Shawn Harrington I enjoyed that storyline too but the fact that they brought up what happened 9 years ago for both of them in 1996 (the Olympics and the Wrestlemania Ironman match) and how they were essential to the storyline was just a stroke of genius

agreed, underrated build up, it's funny because nowadays wwe tries so hard to mesh kayfabe and real life stories that sometimes it looks corny af... back then angle simply felt that he was more legit of an athlete than michaels, but never proved that in the same scale like michaels did in pro wreslting, let alone wrestlemania, it was subtle, they didn't need to tell stuff like ""this is not the character talking shawn, this is the real man" or something like that to get the point across lol
