About tip number one, it depends a lot! If you'r going on an exchange to learn another language ( language schools) and not high school or university, people are so more open for new friendships and to hang out with you! People in those schools are aways arriving and leaving every week, so they are more used to new people! I just came back from an exchange program in London and on my first day after school people invited me to go iceskating than to the pub than cinema and all night long. And extra tip for brazilians: if you'r feeling alone, look for another brazilian in your school. I know you supposed to be with people from other places, but from minute one another brazilian will be your best friend. In my case i spend the hole time with brazilians, all the parties, museums, travel, xams and new year and still leaned a lot of english. Also italians are great to be friends with, idk why italians and brazilians goes so well together but they do.
@Emi-ly4um4 жыл бұрын
Idk,I think Brazilians are really warm and open to open to other people and cultures,maybe that's why.
@gabrielcarvalho60854 жыл бұрын
@@Emi-ly4um That's true but in my first month i've just hanged out with Italians, Japanese , Russians, Africans and etc and they were as nice as brazilians. Language schools are really different

This is really good advice, and one of the best videos on this topic. I went on exchange twice as a teenager and all these years later I found a box of memorabilia. It was really good to see and read what I got up to in those foreign lands. Still today, the songs I listened to back then just transport me back to those years. So I’d add an 11th tip: Keep a diary of what you got up to with memorabilia. Keep a playlist of the songs you listened to. Take photos of the people you got to know in the places you hung out. Years later you’ll be amazed at how quickly it will transport you back in time to those happy day 👍

I'm not going on exchange or whatever, and I've never been an exchange student, but I expect that people will FLOCK the exchange student. In 5th grade, there was this cute French exchange student and I had a huge crush on him😂. I never really noticed if people would try to flock him tho🤔. I did my best to talk to him, and tried to talk to him in French sometimes. I even listened to a lot of French music so we'd have something to talk about 😂. 3 years later I'm in love with the language, and I'm actively learning French!☺️

its a culture shock really when going to a new school ina country outside australia or north ameica because if there is an exchange students everyone is rushing to be friends with them right away and its a super big deal, whereas in most toher countrys poeple are pretty reclusive to themslves and tend to keep to their part more and not get involed much. For people that dont know this it can be hard when transitionig into a new school especially in another country.,

Omg I wish I’d got to hear all these tips before my exchange year I mean im sure I have but I just didn’t care so I was an exchange student in america last year I’d been always afraid of speaking my mind to ppl bc of my poor English, and been afraid of getting out of my comfort zone and now I’m back to my home country and looking back to all memories I just think I could do so much better I just wanna start over it again. For y’all who’s planning on studying abroad soon and anyone who’s on their exchange year and is struggling. Pls don’t embarrass your language skill even if it’s not even good at all, it doesn’t matter just try hard to talk to ppl.Sadly most local ppl don’t care about you unless you don’t try to be friend w them. Maybe making friends is the hardest things during the exchange year but I’m telling you, friends can be the one who change your year and make it the best one. Pls get out of your comfort zone like you can do funny things in front of everyone in class I promise someone will be interested in you and if you don’t have enough encouragement to do so, just remember it all won’t matter at all in a year when you back to your home country Well anyways talk to ppl and make friends and experience as much as you can and just make it the best year of your life!! im from south africa and I moved to the netherlands recently. the language is hard and i find it hard to make friends. I was the "popular kid" in south africa but here it is different. The poeple are different and i dont understand them. I have thrown myself out there just trying to make friends and then a huge truck full of assholes rode right over me. Its difficult to find a reason to keep going. I just simple dont care anymore, nothing really makes me happy, not even good grades. I just started a new shool year and its been pretty shitty so far. I was speaking to this girl the one day, just a good conversation and i thought wow new friend unlocked but then the next day she acted like she didnt know me. And i sat alone the whole day. So i dont know what im supposed to do to make friends in this country. I dont speak to alot of people because if i make a mistake with the language most people laugh in my face. I try to laugh with them but i still feel like i wanna die inside.

I've just applied to be part of a ten-month study abroad program in Italy. I'm still on the fence about it, mostly because I'm nervous to go to school in Italy when I'm not yet fluent in the language. Were all your classes fully in Italian? And do you feel like you picked up the language pretty quickly? Thank you for these videos! They are really really helpful :)
@theoitaliano295310 ай бұрын
hey! yes, the classes were completely in italian and one of the harder parts. teaching was very dry and not interactive so it was hard to concentrate not understanding anything. i would spend a lot of time copying notes from the board and then translating it for fun/language practice. sometimes teachers would give me customised stuff, and because you’re there for 10 months it’s way more likely the teachers will invest a bit more in you. i picked up the language very quickly! even though i had done zero language beforehand. a great portion of italians speak english tho so you’ll be fine! any basic vocabulary or grammar u can learn before will be useful tho, but the speed at which you learn will accelerate like crazy while there :) definitely do it!!!

We shouldn’t support a program that supports anti-Asian hate. Please stop Asian hate! So please make sure to research before you go.
