Same, the FF7 Remake games almost don't feel real. For me, it's a rare case where the game actually lived up to the hype and even surpassed it. The only other games that were this good for me were: The Witcher 3, FF16, Zelda BotW/TotK and the Trails series. Edit: I forgot about the Xenoblade trilogy and X, I'm such a fake fan.

It was easily my favorite JRPG of the year, but I can totally understand your frustrations with it and not having another video where someone just talks about how perfect it is in every way is honestly refreshing. ​@@BigBossCQCLegend Metaphor is great but at the same time pretty darn overrated. Best narrative is fair, but as a whole it is not as good as let's say persona 5 or even Rebirth. What frustrated me the most was that the story tries to be mature similarly to let's say FF tactics while constantly returning to the JRPG clichés. All plot twists lead the same way and feel totally unnecessary at the end and the antagonist is starting off strong but ends up being shallow as well. Honestly, I just wished this game wouldn't have received this type of hype as I would have enjoyed it for what it was instead of constantly comparing it to the crème of the crop where I don't think it belongs.

@@bullythebull260 Nah people just like different things, i liked Metaphor better than persona 5 and i LOVED persona 5, both amazing though. And i didnt really like ff7 rebirth all that much, not a fan of the combat, would prefer something more like tales of arise or just turn based, and i cant stand Cloud, maybe because i didnt play the original but i though he was a really boring protagonist, maybe thats their intention idk. I really liked Zack though, and everyone else.

Thank you for the video great list! I’m currently enjoying Ys x and have Romancing Saga next on my list. Also it’s good to hear someone else’s critique of Metaphor. I’ve played the game and had similar thoughts. Most of what I have heard was universal praise but the calendar system and being under leveled post dungeon kind of brought me out of the experience. I’m glad to know it wasn’t just me nitpicking. I loved SMT 5 and Personal 3 reload but just couldn’t get into this one.

Picjed up Megaton Musashi last month when it was on sale since I heard from the JRPG channels I subscribed to that it was a hidden gem that nobody played. Been playing it nonstop since, 142hrs in and Im enjoying the game still. I can see that the short mission based gameplay is not for everyone. But it works perfectly for me, and Im gunning for completion on the endgame missions now.

Megaton Musashi needs a physical release. It dying in digital storefronts is not helping it. The marketing is clearly the initial problem but that game is out now and needs a boost. Physical fans could definitely help it out imo!

I had a similar experience with P3: FES back in the day. I got to about 80 hrs, and just burned out on it. When I came back, I just did the bare minimum to get to the end. Unfortunately, I didn't know I could have social links with my party members until late, so I didn't get very far with those.

Metaphor was 100% worth the hype and I love the combat system with the archetypes. Also, that OST was insane, the orchestra yololeying is unforgettable. However, I agree, connecting to the characters is difficult.

Level 5 is one of my favorite devs of all time. No No Kuni, DQ11, the Dark Cloud games....they put out some amazing high quality games. That being said, I honestly did not even know they were still making games and I cannot even remember hearing about Megaton. I will have to check it out.

I have not played all of these yet, and probably won't for some of them, but of the ones I played I think Ys X and Fantasian are not that good. Ys X felt like it was made by Falcom's B or C team, maybe Proud Nordics will fix that. Fantasian was mostly just average, but I hated the boss fights so much, nothing but gimmick fights you die to and then change your kit and win on round two.

Not hating or fanboy-ing but Metaphor has to be the least restrictive one in comparison to Persona series with its calendar system. You can max all virtues and confidants in your first playthrough with a lot of time to spare WITHOUT following a guide.

That wasn’t my problem, it was the time when visiting side dungeons. It took a few days to get there and back. In Persona you can grind in a dungeon in one day. Literally way less restrictive.

Personally ive gotten tired of seeing atlus rereleasing games even 2 gens after and having to add dlc on top (p3r) and many times they like to release games then rerelease forcing a second purchase in this day and age dlc expansions exist.. but they dont give those that support early a way to upgrade.. and not a fan of timed games(calander etc) nor dating sim/social links. Beyond that great list

Great list. Agree with No. 1, and good to see Persona reload high on the list although I was pained to see Metaphor Refantazio this low on the list. I personally liked it better than Persona 5 where the main characters sympathize with a piece of garbage like Akechi because of his sorry-ass past because this game actually made the criminals face the consequences of what they did and pay the fair price, but that's just my personal taste.

My favorite 2024 is Romancing saga 2 and Like a Dragon. I tryed the persona series but holy smoke that series is over rated and a bored book, persona is like reading a several 100 pages book and a bad book even. Refantazio is much better than the persona games. Shin Megami Tensei 5 was also good imo but its wild that Atlus can make SMT and Refantazio and then a bad series as persona. Did you know that only 25% of players have completed the persona 5 royal game? Still people over rate the game, i mean it cant be as good as people state when only 25% of them played to the end of the campaign. FF7 rebirth also known as the yellow and blue paint game, i might want to give it another shot, but after playing FF16 it just felt like a major downgrade player 7 rebirth.

my number one was Unicorn overlord. holy moly was i addicted. played through it. missed some characters and did play again on highest difficulty. vision of mana did not improve the standard combat. it was a step back. the vessel didnt fit with jobs sometimes. why would fire be a tank? like what? but the vessels itself were awesome. i hated julei. stupid sproutling. the team that made the remake for trials of mana did the saga 2 remake. i wish they had done the visions of mana game. but overall it is a great game. this now might be a unpopular opinion but the original FF7 is overated AF. like 9 and 10 were better. all ff fans love 7 but the best? nahh. didnt play the rebirth yet since it is not out on pc. bought it already. what they did in remake with those weird parallel world shenanigans and those ghosts trying to make the original timeline happen. i was not a hug fan of that. i still thought it was a great remake. but people ahould finally stop exaggerating.
