Dude, I've been reading manga for 75 years now, and let me tell you... I'm so happy Blame ranked so high on your list :) (it belongs on #1, though ;) ), although I see why "Campfire of Dreams" is in the top spot. High energy video I really liked! Merry Christmas and take it easy over the holidays. Oh, I forgot my list... 1.Blame! 2. Berserk 3. Blade of the Immortal 4. Vagabond 5. Bakuman

75 years?! It's depressing that I'll never be able to match that 😂(I'm 47 and have only seriously been reading manga for about 4 years. What have I been doing with my life?!). I bow to your wisdom, Senpai.
I never really had any interest in Blame! before but now I think I'll give it a try sometime next year. Just looked up the premise of it and it sounds really interesting. I can't really decide what my own favorite manga volumes would be though. The manga series that had the most impact on me personally so far would be Gunslinger Girl, Goodnight Punpun, A Silent Voice, Solanin and of course Berserk. Aside from Berserk with no ending, the others were all fantastic series with tons of memorable points and exceptionally well done endings whether they were the endings you as a reader wanted or not.

I've read all of Berserk, Dorohedoro, Uzumaki and BLAME! this year since you have been reading them. I have no idea how to decide what volume is my favorite, I mean I could say which arcs or chapters are the best but volumes is harder. However, I think you nailed this list.

Can we say that Berserk went berserk in your list? 🤔😁 Maybe one of these days you'll sit and watch and the OG anime from 1997 and will add and the soundtrack to the words and images. It ends with The Eclipse, so it won't spoil you anything from the manga. All the best!

number 1 so far is tied between chainsaw man vol. 9 where Aki gets closer to power and denji, plus the heartbreaking fight on the last couple chapters. and berserk vol casca and guts get close to eachother. both are tear wrenching to me.

I genuinely think making a top 5 or 10 list is impossible for me and depends on different parameters. I think I'd narrow it down to three, those being: 1) Berserk - if I'm focusing on the greatest Protagonist and Antagonist that I can think of (and yes that includes a lot of literature too). 2) Akira - if I'm focusing on the underlying concepts and principles that the story is built on, which I have never seen anyone ever appreciate lol (again, that includes a lot of literature). Plus it's a seminal work and a true landmark in manga and anime. 3) Made in Abyss - if I'm focusing on pure storytelling and incredible world-building. The kind of story that can make you feel like a kid again, but also horrify you as an adult (it sounds insane to say this cutesy looking story is actually darker than Berserk, but I'm definitely saying it). Admittedly, the anime (my favourite) is possibly an even better experience than the manga thanks to an exceptional adaptation. Then there's Girls' Last Tour, which is so simple but so beautifully and smartly written, with two of the most loveable characters you could hope to follow, that it has to be close to my top three (also a perfect anime, though sadly doesn't adapt the last third of the manga). Then there's Blame of course, Vagabond for visual excellence that belongs in a museum, Land of the Lustrous for one of the most original concepts and best protagonist character arcs, I Sold My Life for 10,000 Yen Per Year for the feels, Planetes for hard sci-fi and great characters, pretty much anything by Naoki Urasawa, Spy Family for the laughs and Anya being the cutest thing ever created, Vinland Saga, Deadman Wonderland, Dorohedoro, Gantz... yeah there's just too many and many more lol (with an honourable mention to Hajime no Ippo, which I'm almost fully caught up on as the longest running manga I've read and I have to say that I just love it). Oh, and of course for the kid in me there's One Punch Man :) And that's not counting something like Mushishi, which I think works better as an anime and is just brilliant. But I'll shut up now.

How could I forget Akira?? Made in Abyss?? It really bugs me that I didn't include Planetes, because I really liked that one. If you like Spy x Family, you might enjoy Sakamoto Days. Now I'm off to read the stuff on your list I wasn't aware of! Merry Christmas!
@discipleofthecapedbaldy9622 жыл бұрын
@@graymalk1992 Not heard of Sakamoto Days before and after a quick wiki search it sounds like it shares so many of the ingredients of Spy Family. Will have to check it out (I've also added Bakuman from your list below and while I've not read Blade of the Immortal either it's been on my list for a while now and I keep hearing good things so I think that may be next!). And yeah, Akira for me is just the work of a master who knew exactly what he was doing. Made in Abyss is shaping up to become just about my favourite story of all time lol and the first season of the anime (which I saw before starting the manga) somehow hit me harder emotionally than anything I'd ever seen before. And Planetes definitely deserves some love. Outside of the work of Boichi, who really knows his technical stuff, I can't think of many manga that someone like Arthur C. Clarke could've read and rated, but I really think Planetes is one of them. And I'm hoping that Girls' Last Tour might be one of the ones you're not familiar with, because you'd be in for a treat and I'd say it's the single most underappreciated and little known mangas I've read. I'd recommend watching the anime first though and then the manga, simply because the anime is truly perfectly done and provides a beautiful music score. Fair warning though, certain volumes of the manga may be difficult to find (but easy enough to read online ;)). And Merry Christmas :)

@@discipleofthecapedbaldy962 yeah, I wasn't aware of Girls' last Tour. Will definitely check it out. I've spend a lot of time looking for good SF manga. Some I thought were really good, like 2001 Nights, Stardust Memories, Astra Lost in Space and especially Uchuu Kyoudai (the story of two brothers who become astronauts)
@discipleofthecapedbaldy9622 жыл бұрын
@@graymalk1992 I've only seen the anime of Astra Lost in Space and loved that for its humour and just generally being really heart-warming. Not familiar with the others though and will definitely add them to the list. Many thanks!
