In the war films, the way that very important characters only interact with the protagonists for a brief but crucial period of time effectively mirrors the dynamics of a combat zone.

Perhaps not on the level of the ones on this list, but I'd give honorable mentions to: Friday the 13th---Mrs. Vorhees: Betsy Palmer does a great performance of elevating this film beyond a generic slasher. And yet, we don't see her (or even know about her) until the last 15 minutes of the film. Airplane II--Buck Murdoch: Most of this sequel is pretty much a retread of the original, but William Shatner's character in Act 3 is a breath of fresh air, with some great lines. "Those lights are blinking out of sequence" "Get them to blink in sequence."

How did you forget "The Wizard of Oz"? Only the most famous final act appearance of a titular character of all time!
@Reggie20002 жыл бұрын
@@erakfishfishfish I see how you got there, but not really. The film cleverly has each actor pull double duty, to lend a vagueness to the concept of whether it was all a dream or not, but even still, The Wizard, is still not seen until the arrive in the Emerald City. I mean even if you think it's a dream, in the 1939 version of The Wizard of Oz, Professor Marvel is still not actually The Wizard of Oz. Even if it is a dream, he is still a different person. Right? I mean I know Dorthy goes "And you were there, and you were there." and do on but that actually makes no sense, no matter how you slice it. If it's real, they weren't there, and if its a dream, they weren't really there either. Imo

I feel like a separate list for "Movies that aren't about what they say they're about" would make more sense for that. My nomination for said list would be the titular character "Oscar."

@@SethiusAlpha LOL Definitely! That dude pops in with 20 seconds to go. I wonder how that works in the stage play? 🤔 Is there an actor that just plays a ton of bit parts, and then is also Oscar at the end? I'd that joke not in the stage play? I've personally never seen it performed.

Many people missed that detail and believed they were looking at Tom Hanks' character. Colour me surprised that a Brit narrator doesn't know that "Ralf" Fiennes is pronounced "Rafe". Of course, just seconds later the narrator says "you're an inatimate object." And later in the video he says "insiduous" instead of "insidious". Of course I would not dare propose that I would do any better in a voiceover, we all trip up. But... I'm not getting paid to do this professionally, with (presumably) a team of editors to make sure the final product is of decent professional quality. *shrug*
