The "monstrous" thing in Oslo is a skijump called Holmenkollen. They jump about 150 m there. Another monstrous thing is those gigant cruiceships in our fjords! They pollute the air with their dieselmachines, and the small villages is overfloaded with tourists. Of course good for business fore some, but they are hated by others. The best way to explore the fjords is in a small boat or a cano. On Svalbard everyone who goes outside the town of Spitsbergen has to carry a gun at every time. Luckely there are seldom any deadly confrontations between people and bears, even thoug it happens now and then. Since 1971 six people has died in a polarbear-attack. I missed something from what I think is the most beautiful and impressive part of Norway: Finnmark. Wilderness all around, sunshine all night in the summer, fresh air, eagels all over, white endless shores, facinating stoneformations, and almost no people or cruiseships anywhere. The last frontier. And life goes in slow motion there. Love it!

We did an auto tour through Norway a few years ago. It was stunning. Such a beautiful country with all the different landscape 's. We visit some of the 10 great destinations mentioned in this video. I often think about that trip we did. We will surtanly come back. Norway is great.

Don't talk about that in Norway though. We don't consider you Norwegian by any stretch of the word and you'll most likely just annoy people. "Norwegian" Americans on vacation in Norway are some of the most obnoxious people I have ever met in my life. We're just too polite to say it to their face.

A tip for visiting: observe how locals interact before being "touristy". The Nordic people don't like loud or in your face attitudes, but do appreciate those who are reserved and reapectable. Most of us will help you if you need it, and show you where you need to go (though some will be rude due to time constraint or just being their "charming" selves). Don't say you're local, unless you're either ready to speak the language as a native (while most can communicate in English, they rather still babble away in their own language. Implications of being of some nationality might end up with them switching language on a dime, and expect you to understand), or have relatives who'll show you around. Lastly, it's fine to be excited, but keep it inside. Exuberant exclamations on something us locals concider every day might garner ugly glances. Smile, and laugh, by all means... just keep it toned down.

Sorry to break it to you, but if you bring that energy to Norway you'll get nothing but a cold sholder and a fake smile. They'll never see you as a brother; youre strictly american to them. Norwegians hate people from other countries comming there and acting like theyre norwegian based on herritage. I can assure you if you start going "i have norwegian herritage, skål brothers and sisters" with that american energy. People will laugh at you behind your back; while smiling politely to your face. So dont go boasting about your herritage. It wont impress them at all. They dont give a damn, and will just think youre annoying. So keep the energy down, only ask people if you need help finding something. They dont like small talk. If you somehow happen to find an odd ball who will engage in small talk with you tho, you can of course casually bring up your herritage. But the second you start boasting about it theyll just shut down and smile politely while secretly wanting you to get out of their way. The culture there is quite different from the usa. So be polite, and respect personal space more than anything, keep your voice down and just be chill about it. Theres no such thing as an outside voice in norway, so use your inside voice and you'll be fine. And for the love of god, if you take the bus, dont make eye contact; dont speak to anyone unless youre giving up your seat; and dont be loud. I cannot stress this enough. They really fucking hate it, trust me. Everyone who was raised right in norway knows you keep your damn mouth shut while riding the bus. The bus is a sacred and silent place to gather your thoughts

8:20 That's a ski jump. Holmenkollen to be exact, the most famous ski jump in Norway. It's famous for having horrible visibility by the way... (Frequent fog) You can imagine how some jumpers feel when making a world record only to discover that no one saw their jump or perfect landing. ;-)

3.20 Tromso. Been there. 4.25 Trondheim, been there. 7.15 Oslo, been there, beautiful city, 7.59 Vigelandpark. Lol, you should google that one, you'd be in shock. It's all naked statues...in detail. HUGE details if you get my drift, lol. 8.19 I think that's a ski jump/slope thing. 9.35 Lofoten Islands, yup, been there too. Made a whale safari. Got sea sick. And I mean SEA SICK. Did see sperm whales though. 10.47 Yes, you guessed it Bergen or Bryggen, been there twice. BEAUTIFUL. We were lucky, there's a lot of fog there, but we had beautiful sunny weather. You can take a special train up the 'rock' (mountain, whatever) so you can look down on the city. The ships are HUGE and can get close to the land, the fjords are very deep. We were camping and one day we woke up and looked outside and we had a huge cruise ship right in front of us, lol.

I subscribe to the channel of a woman who lives on Svalbard. The polar bears are not really an issue. It's a vast island with the human population very concentrated in a small area. At the same time, she points out that, if you live there, you are required to carry a firearm, either with bullets or a flare gun, at all times when you are out and about because...polar bears. :)

Ok. Bergen IS the home city of Aurora, but to place it higher than Lofoten ??? My three last summer holidays have beenin Lofoten, Lofoten and Bergen. If scenery is your thing, Lofoten is the place. EXTREMELY beautiful. - I get it. Bergen has more buildings to look at and cultural places, and they have Akvariet, Bryggen, Fløibanen and Ulrikken. But they also have Bergensere LMAO. Just kidding 😉 HCR - If you ever decide to visit Norway, be sure not to miss out on Lofoten. That would have been a disaster. Have a great week and stay safe buddy. Love from Norway 😃

4:03 Regarding the snow. I'm not sure about Tromsø, but snow is becoming more and more rare along the coastline in Norway, further and further north. We don't have much left of it here in Trondheim despite having a lot in the nineties. 4:29 My home city. Unfortunately much of the older buildings in downtown Trondheim has burned down. Property developers are banned from tearing down historic buildings that's protected by law. But they're not legally required to do sufficient maintenance. So the old buildings are neglected till they burn down or otherwise fall apart and can be torn down for safety reasons. That way they get access to build something new on the property or sell the land at a profit. We still have a lot of old buildings in Bakklandet, old working class homes of wood. But our downtown areas isn't what it once where...

The place at 9:30 is Reine in Lofoten five kilometers from where I was born. A beautiful but dangerous nature, several tourists has lost their life in those mountains, and a few was never found again :(

#10 Ålesund is where Sigrid is from. They didnt mention one of the worlds most beautiful roads, Kystriksveien (the coastal route), which is one of the 101 most scenic drives in the world. Scenic spots like Træna and the UNESCO-listed Vega islands (with 6 500 small islands). The Træna-festival where Aurora performs with Wardruna is from this place. Other sights is the North Cape, Saltstraumen (one of the strongest tidal currents in the world), Trollstigen (scenic road), Preikestolen (The Pulpit Rock, a steep cliff with a plateu)..

Some other places worth visiting are Skien, the birthplace of the famous playwright Henrik Ibsen, Sandefjord, once the centre of the whaling industry, Tønsberg with it's famous Slottsfjellet ruins, Fredrikstad and neighbouring Halden with their historical fortifications and last, but not least, Oscarsborg fortress near Drøbak that played a vital role in delaying the german invasion fleet destined for Oslo, giving the king and the cabinet time to escape capture

Holmenkollen: hill record are 144 meters, the Vikersund ski jump arena in Norway (1 hour drive from Oslo) has the world record 253,5 meters..... You can try it yourself.... Kind of... Using the zipline in the summer 😎. I live 30 minutes away 🇧🇻😀

Lofoten is my location, and yes we have changing weather, this year it has been verry stable tho , yep we has had stable bad weather the entire year. we have ofcorse winter here, but not that cold as many belive, avrage winter temp is from +8 to -8 degree c and 0 to-5 degree c is most common

The most unique places in Svalbard are the Russian towns. Barentsburg is a Russian mining town on NATO soil with 70% of the population coming from the Ukraine. In addition there is a Russian ghost town called Pyramiden that was abandoned in the 90s and is the location of the Lenin statue closest to the North Pole. The place is maintained by a small group of people from Russia and the Ukraine. Pyramiden is the ultimate time travel to Soviet times. To get to these two destinations you have to travel by ship from the main town of Longyearbyen.

Well i am from Norway and i must say the US have simular places who are as bautiful like in Colorado, Montana or Alaska so only diffrens maybe is the fjords like sognefjorden who is 1308 meter deep lol anyway i will say US have almost the same :) And not to forget Canada !!! I also wondering why US soldiers need to practice in winter war in Norway? you have as much snow as we have and Alaska is even worse in the winter than in Norway???

Nothing wrong with the places picked, but this video was really boring and lackluster, and skipping some of the best parts of each place. For instance, the beach at the very end of the sequence from Lofoten, is voted one of the most see places in the world by Lonely Planet, where surfers from all over the world descend. Also, the archipelago is on UNESCOs world heritage list. Just to mention a few things that were missing from one of the destinations. PS: It always rains in Bergen. So much so that people there are known for forking out on fashionista rain coats, umbrellas and wellington boots as they, literally, have to wear it all the time.

Naaaah, DO NOT agree w #1.... I live 1-2 hrs north of #3 LOfoten, in the neighbouring islands of VEsteraalen. Seriously, they didn't mention Senja...it's a knockout of any of the other areas.Or even some of the cities further north... hmmmm.... So my top 4 are in the Arctic, #1. The Lo-Ve Islands with Trollfjord(my playground), #2 Senja, #3 Tromsø and #4Vadsø and the area around Vadsø. Bergen and Alesund after that... Trondheim... And U're welcome to visit. I'd advise August/September, then U get extreme colors, lights and nature. U get the waining summer going into the gorgeous colors of fall, and the Auroras (Northern Lights) Meet reindeers, go on whale or eagle safari.... etc etc. :D
