I think the reason why Lady D is so popular and such a great "monster" in the RE-verse is because she is actually very much the OPPOSITE of a monster visually, at first glance lol. She is a drop-dead (pun intended) gorgeous woman of stature but once she starts acting more akin to a vampire AND whips her nightmarish retractable claws out, you realize that she is a totally menacing Tyrant-like monster (with the similarities of the height, claws, strangely pearl-white skin, with a thirst for blood and violence). The contrast between her beauty and horror is what really captivates the audience, I believe. Great character. Love the fancy "royalty" vibes she exudes too.

My big problem with this list is jack didn’t make it onto the actual list. He is terrifying. His backstory is sad and he’s a reoccurring villain throughout the resident evil 7 game. he keeps coming back.

How does he do that. Normally he appears for 15 minutes and then explodes. Then he doesn’t reappear until you get the statuette, and you have to to kill him to set up the statuette, so he goes down, then you chainsaw fight. Then he comes back a while later as a blob and dies. He is not persistent at all. Madhouse makes this worse in a way because his teleportation makes it impossible to run from him. Therefore, you have to get the scorpion key instantly and escape to the basement, where Jack cannot chase you until chainsaw fight. Lucas is a far more persistent threat in that due to his audio system he is constantly talking to you at all times. His room is a great addition showing his sadism and overall is a larger presence in the story

Jack Baker honestly deserved a place on this list. Horror games rarely do anything for me but the first half of RES 7 I was genuinely on the edge of my seat. The sections where he was hunting you down in the house were anxiety inducing. The Bakers had a great and tragic backstory, but for me Jack stands out. Such a great villain to the series and without a doubt deserved an actual spot on this list.

Well, remember, the Baker family were actually manipulated by Eveline, since Jack stated that he's no killer, neither was his family, but Eveline changed all that because of the gift she gave them. So in truth, Eveline actually deserved to be on this list more than Jack since he was just the tool for Eveline to try and kill you.

Going by the comics the Nemesis had the saddest backstory. Man was a boxer that got tricked by umbrella to become a subject in an experiment. Seeing the love of yo life as a zombie and watch em shoot your child when they also became a zombie before you lose your humanity and became a servant. Now the Bakers is also sad if it wasn’t was Mya they would’ve had a 50/50 chance of survival. They were innocent💔

2 things I have to say. 1. I think the villain with the most tragic backstory is Lisa Trevor from RE1 remake. A child that got experimented on and turned into a monster while losing her whole family. (She was scary as fuck in RE1 remake). 2. I’m SHOCKED both Mr.X and Jack Baker didn’t make it on this list. They are probably my 2 favorite villains in the franchise. Although maybe that has to do with more of the gameplay ? Because the Jack Baker and Mr.X parts of their game (RE2 remake, RE7) were the best and most scary parts of the game! I know that most people don't care but there is a difference between a villain and an antagonist. Evie is an antagonist as she is not evil,but very much manipulated . She was taught to use her powers and encoureged to be what you see ,she was being raised in a deep dark hall and taght morals by the connections which are umbrella with different name .If Mia actually cared about Evie as a real child and not an experiment ,maybe Evie would have learned morals and be happy with the bakers without infecting them .

I enjoyed the big revelation about Mother Miranda at the end of Village and also the reveal of, was it the BSAA or Blue Umbrella that Chris works for in village? Anyway I loved that Chris found out that they were dropping zombies in to combat the Village. What does that mean? Where are they going with that? I wish Lady D had been given an intermediate form between her human form and Dragon form a good idea would be they land in the Chapel and the mould is around and she mutates slightly with it and becomes like Digimon’s LadyDevimon a devil woman. She could have the mould become like leather covering, the blades and can turn mould into bat like entities then after a fight where rely on light and fire she turns into the dragon.

In the original, Saddler does manipulate Mendez the same way he does to Salazar and everyone else. Mendez was the village chief and priest of the town before Saddler came and talked Mendez into converting the villages catholic faith into las plagas worship, and it was Mendez who agreeed with Saddler and allowed for all the villagers to convert to las plagas worship and br injected with it. Original Saddler gave him a dominate plaga as a reward for his faithfulness, and considered him and Salazar to be his closest allies. You can find a note on the island that Saddler wrote saying that the deaths of Mendez and Salazar were disheartening to him. Og Saddler was really the best villain imo

This'll probably get lost in the comments, but I do have a question. If you were to come up with a villain, what kind of evil would that person be? Any backstory, abilities, motives, schemes, personality, etc. Personally, I kinda want a villain who is less supervillain-esque. No big speeches, evil laughs or quips. Instead: cold, ruthless, more to the point, works in the shadows, uses manipulation to an advantage, at least be a step ahead and perhaps actually survive. Just my idea and I do have others, but I wanna hear what you and everyone else here has in mind.

I agree, Alexia and Alfred Ashford compliment each other. Not only cause they are twins and have the same end goal, but they also have a "queen to servant" relationship. Alfred comes off as the more incompetent of the two but he is still a major threat during the first half of Code Veronica X while Alexia becomes the main threat in the second half since she was cryogenically frozen for the first half. Plus for the duration of the first half Alfred manages to take on all of Alexia's responsibilities along with his own but during the last portion of the first half his disguise falls apart and the player, on their first playthrough, is left assuming the two are the same until the second half begins.

It's a real shame Specner is never an antagonist to play against, he's behind the scenes but as the guy to somewhat start the whole series he should have been the villain in a game. Despite RE6 being pretty bad, I think Simmons is a good villain. He's got a diabolical plan, takes out the president, he's also one of the only other characters to be infected and retain his humanity even to the point he can transform between being monstrous and looking mostly human. Even his boss battle he unveils form after form in his relentless battle against Leon. Of course Wesker should be number 1, he's a badass and a villain in multiple games.

I really REALLY love what they did with Burkin in the remake. I love all the small details you don't notice in the heat of battle. But I love that you can see his head disappearing into his body to the point that at stage 3 it's just a stretched out patch of flesh on his shoulder. And in stage 2 his arms are pulled in close to his body in favor of the new larger arms. Not to mention his final stage while not a hard boss is absolutely monstrous. Just an ever expanding mass of flesh, teeth and eyes. He's my favorite monster in the entire series hand's down. He's got a interesting backstory, amazing boss fights and is just terrifying start to finish.

I consider Ada as an anti-hero. Also for Mr. X other than his extreme key terrifying and intimidating presence, imo he’s too similar to Nemesis to include them separately on this list. Yeah you could argue the Mr. X in RE2R is more intimidating than Nemesis in RE3R, but to me if I was only going to include one of them on this list it would be nemesis. X doesn’t have much of a personality. If the list was about scariest monster he would easily make the list. As for best “villain” nothing really pushes him above any other character on this list as he doesn’t have as much of a backstory or personality as the rest of the characters. But that’s just my opinion,

@@NerdSpaceGames While Mr. X’s backstory is rather simple and is basically just him being there to eliminate stars members, I think he has some of the best game design of any RE villain/boss and is possibly the most terrifying enemy in any of the games. He changes the entire dynamic of the game, and the way he constantly searches for you and follows you around is unparalleled. Sure Jack and Lady D have a similar purpose and do well at said purpose, but Mr. X is pushing you into enemies and corridors you otherwise hated going through to begin with while the other two are chasing you alone. As far as Nemesis goes, sure OG nemesis was terrifying and sure lore wise he serves the same purpose but he doesn’t quite hunt you the same way X does, he shows up in specific parts of the game.

love the list! my only contention - aside from lisa trevor being less tragic than mother miranda - is that resident evil 4 is actually not the highest-selling game in the franchise by a country mile. one of the most popular, sure. however, resident evil 5 is the highest-selling game and it’s hardly close. you came off as trying to be counterculture by saying you didn’t like RE4 as much as the masses do, and it led to you saying things that’re false. a bit more research next time and you’re golden! again, love your videos!

the thing about Lady Dimitrescu is that she's basically a female version of Dracula. both are vampires but while he is a one of fantasy she is a biological vampire and as for her mutated form. well think to Dracula's real life inspiration, Vlad III of Walachia, also known as Vlad the Impaler or Vlad Dracula which means "Vlad Son of The Dragon" who is the son of Vlad Dracul meaning "the dragon" and that's the form Alcina takes in the fight.

I'm not sure Birkin is a great villain; but his G virus sure does make the most dangerous creations. Their ability to replicate and transform into just about anything is a huge threat. It's pretty much Lady D's ability on steroids without the need for blood to sustain it. Plus they're so relentless and hard to kill that it takes something extraordinary to kill them.

I disagree with the take on saddler. The reason being that if the plan was so effective then all he needed to do once leon found ashley(who was infected by then) was let them leave. He literally failed because he tried to keep them there.

Small Funfact: the Creators of Resident Evil 5 did use Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars as inspiration for Spencers voice, like he talk and how he moves. For me i think even if he isnt the most Popular, Spencer will always be my favorite Villain because he just is a Mastermind in almost every way, yes he isnt as Scary as Nemesis, Birkin or Eveline or as Strong like Albert and Alex Wesker but he is defently the most Evil Person in Resident Evil History and thats why he is my Favorite Villain and if one Villain deserves his own Video Game then it defently is Spencer, also if Resident Evil 9 really takes place in Europe then think because the Place in the Resident Evil 5 lost in Nightmare Dlc was also in Europe in Spencers Family House so MAYBE the Story of Spencer is far from over than we think and also a very good Video 😊🧟🧟‍♂🧟‍♀

Though not an RE fan per se, I think Capcom made some major missteps with RE 5, relevant to the video above being killing off Albert Wesker AND Oswald Spencer. Killing both really hamstrung the progress of the series, since it lost two figurehead antagonists who helped drive the series (directly and indirect) as it did. Nowadays we just see them scrambling a new villain every next game, just to kill them just as quickly. It...kind of hurts to see, as a story writer. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they should be the ONLY antagonists, nor should they be immortal; like, there should have been a true title dedicated to killing Spencer, where he finally takes a dose of his own medicine and become a final boss, not the footnote cutscene that he did become in 5.
