With all this whining I kind of hope Elden Ring does win. I mean, I don’t vote for it but geez, get over it. SOTE was all new content and was nearly big enough to be an Elden Ring 2. I’m not surprised at all it was nominated. But ultimately I had to vote for Wukong.

If you're doing this as more than "player character", may I suggest Ghost Trick Phantom Detective (super twist: game starts with us knowing we're dead and us trying to find out who killed us as a ghost... Then turns out the dead body we thought was ours isn't!), Spec Ops The Line (the bad guy we were sent to stop killed himself months ago and the protagonist hallucinated talking to him), The MISSING (the entire game is a dying dream as our protagonist attempted suicide, and their best friend and a paramedic are trying to revive them causing them to pop up in the dream in odd ways), Whitestone (the protagonist and several other characters are actually reanimated corpses revived by the main villain as they studied alchemy) and of course the biggest plot twist of all VIKTOR REZNOV from Call of Duty Black Ops who follows our protagonist for the entire game only to turn out to be a beainwashing induced hallucination.

As a massive fan of fromsoft Eldon ring dlc is peek but I also agree the dlc should not be nominated yes it is some of the best content ever made even arguably better then some of the games up there but it had its time I don't think it should be an option of we can have on going game category why can't we have a dlc category

Shadow of the Erdtree has no business being in the goty category. It's not a new game. It's an add-on to an older game and at best should be nominated for best ongoing game, since they don't have a best dlc category like they should. Goty should always be reserved for standalone games, excluding remasters

Give me Chris, Claire or better yet Jake Muller as main character.. I personally think if the enemies in new RE will be potentially most dangerous, Jake is by far the most suitable to go on such mission, he has speed and strength far above human level, he is familiar with some of the deadliest monsters, such as Ustanak or those huge monsters you shoot down at the very first missions. He is also shown to be quite smart, and personally i would be interested if after so many years his personality would change, going from quite cocky arrogant guy, to perhaps more calm Leon-like guy, or choose Chris path, meaning being normal but have quite short fuse, and react too much on emotions in some situations.

I kinda predicted Jake being rank 1 and Sheva, i personally think both Jake and Sheva have easily the personalities and story to become full time main characters. Jake could be for example visit places like Spencers Mansion and fight off things like Lisa Trevor with ease, where as Sheva could find herself well in bad city situations like Raccoon, where she could use her RE5 experience with puzzles and undergrounds to move even faster and effective through cities, or somewhere like Village. Spencer could be re-written that when Wesker killed him, before throwing him down he infected him, and when Jill fell down with Wesker, after Chris left Mansion he could survive death, and transform into a stalker smart stalker enemy type, that haunts nearby woods just like dogs did.

Completey agree it's really disgraceful tbh I made a post about it online myself a complete snub to Sh2 remake, Stellar Blade among other titles overlooked by a Dlc for a game released 2 years ago! This is why fans should be involved more instead of these crappy media outlets! And especially voting fans only recieve 10% of the votes in Goty awards which means the media that makes the decisions on nominees recieve 90% of the final vote so I wouldn't be suprised if Elden ring also won Goty! Im right there with you on them making a seperate category for Dlc & I also think Jeff needs to take all this criticism & feedback on board to not have another blunder like this on future shows! Also Bloober Team deserved so much better they created the best horror remake of all time & totally stomped all over all doubts anyone had about the game prior I hope they know that their work hasn't gone unnoticed by the fans

Regarding Steve, he STILL could be alive, as the Code: Veronica X version on PS2 had extra and alternate scenes different from the Dreamcast version which had Wesker say he acquired Steve's body to research the T-Veronica Virus and said, "Maybe he'll come back alive just as I did...and be able to see your sister again." That version set up the possibility of him returning as CV was initially intended to be the first in a trilogy of games that never got off the ground due to low sales because fans didn't want to buy a Dreamcast and felt RE shoulda stayed on PlayStation. I thought FOR SURE Wesker would have Steve as a brainwashed enforcer and Claire would have to reach out to him and remind him of his love for her to snap him out of it, but this never got touched upon.

Little tip, don't put spoilers in your thumbnails. I was planning on getting white day and then scrolled to your thumbnail showing a main character that was dead the whole time. It's not fair for people to see spoilers thumbnails for games they haven't played yet and we're planning to play soon.

No Silent Hill 2 sucks and is a crazy snub but honestly the GOTY nominees make a lot of sense. Especially as someone who played all of them. All of the selections made waves and are great. Metaphor is my personal pick.

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is the BEST game expansion I've played since Dying Light the Following. I'm a Souls fanboy. That being said, The Game Awards must be on drugs to put this one on GOTY list instead of an actual game like Silent Hill 2 Remake. SH2 isn't just a remake, it's a complete new game made from the ground-up. it's not even a 1-to-1 type of remake.

I think that gaming overall isn't the same since 2005-2013. Of course the graphics & certain game play are better. But there isn't games like OG RE4 making a splash in the industry or like Halo 3. Also getting rid of midnight releases takes away a lot from the social aspect. I remember when Red Dead came out & there was people gathering around eating baked cowboy beans at the midnight release.

I dont pay attention to the game awards. But i wish Persona 3 Reload got nominated, I loved that game.

I found the nominations lackluster to be honest ): I was really gutted that the Silent Hill 2 remake wasn't nominated. Yes I know there's the controversy because it's a remake but I think that shouldn't void it. Especially given the fact that Resident Evil 4 remake was nominated last year (which was my game of the year lol) The Silent Hill 2 remake still brings something new to the table. Also given the fact that so many doubted that Bloober team would pull it off. I was one of the skeptics as well but I'm very glad it was a success and Bloober team deserves recognition. And I'm definitely voting for Luke Roberts for performance of the year. He blew me away as James Sunderland

If I had to pick one, it would be Sheva.

I will mention a character that definitely deserves a second chance that no one is bringing up, but me, but that is Ethan Winters. He deserves more games as well and has potential to be a likeable character. If anything, with his games should be more psychological horror because it fits his character a lot. Ethan Winters deserves a spot in that.
