I took my wife to Lake Lousie in Alberta a couple weeks ago, where she learned to snowboard for the first time, and it was honestly awesome. We live on the east coast of the US so it's not often I get that sweet western pow haha. I'd have loved to get to BC but her family is in AB and it was just a bit too far for how short our trip was. Next time though! Thanks for including the lesser known resorts, I'll definitely be looking into visiting them too someday 😊

I get that North America has great mountains but lift systems are so far behind what you see in Europe so it's unfortunate to see only one EU resort in the list given the insane amount of options. St Anton in Austria is truly unique, the largest in Austria, but Les 3 Vallées in France is much larger (as a matter of fact, the largest in the world) and tops St Anton anytime (and many on this list) because of the broader variety of terrain, state of the art lift system and snow coverage and quality throughout a very long season.

3 Vallées is much better than St Anton. I like Tignes better as well. Most modern lifts I think are probably Ischgl. Like that resort in late spring. Anyway, haven't been in the US, but looking at some of the lift lines, it puts me off. Maybe smaller resorts would be better in the US.

@brentlanyon46549 ай бұрын
@@SnowboardProCamp 89 was shut down between Meyers and Sorensens. I was fortunately staying in Minden that night and was able to slowly get back in my Subaru wearing good tires. There were zero lift lines, not too windy and I couldn't see my tracks from the last run it was snowing so hard. Lots of dropping in to natural half pipes from snowed over dry creeks. Haven't ridden Palisades yet, but Alpine Meadows (which merged with Squaw to become Palisades) was one of my favorites. Appreciate your videos, btw; I'm planning to take my boys out this winter to learn.
@graemearmstead92377 ай бұрын
I haven't skied Chile but with that caveat I'll say that St Anton and the greater Arlberg area is easily the best of the areas listed although Niseko has the best snow. The Arlberg ski area is far, far bigger than any of the listed resorts and has an extraordinary variety of terrain with a lot of it steep and very challenging, even for true experts. However, having said that there are several French resorts that I prefer. Several cover more than 300km2 with a couple that are about 600km2. All of Whistler/Blackcomb could sit in a small corner of these areas. The off piste terrain is justifiably famous, the lift systems are easily the best in the world and if you want to cruise there are long, well groomed freeways that in some cases have verticals of over 1500m. Without a helicopter or snowcat there is simply no comparison. Although having said all this the snow in Japan is so good that you could well have the best days skiing in your life at what would otherwise be a fairly modest Japanese area on any day with fresh powder and in Japan there are more of these days than anywhere else.

Palisades #1. $200++ a day lift ticket. Nieseko $65 a day lift ticket for 4 peaks and the snow is like nothing else.

Great list! Give you a few secrets…St. Anton..nope..follow east to little Stuben (all north facing and mini Japan bush riding) which is connected then north to Lech and Zurs… the lift infrastructure is insane….Le Sybelles, La Grave and Serre Chevalier in France…south of Laax is Obersaxen…and many connected areas on the Swiss/Italian border. No one of North American ski resorts will make even 100 top! It’s not only mediocre lifts systems and scale of terrain, it’s services, alpine villages, accommodation, food and après-ski. I visited almost every major ski resort in Canada, US and Europe. And the biggest ski resort of the World is Dolomite’s Super Ski in Italy!

For me, any list has to include Chamonix, France. Still the king of hardcore back country - for both winter and summer pastimes. But really the resorts we all rank as best are probably where we had the best snow conditions whilst we were there (blind luck to an extent) or where we had the greatest nights out with friends. So we all have some serious bias to deal with! ;-)

This list honestly is bad. As a european i can tell you st anton isnt even top 5 in austria and its the only resort named in your „world wide“ list. I agree with palisades and niseko being on your list (ive been to both and loved riding there) but honestly the best *resort riding* that you can find happens in the alps. If you want endless tracks, barely no lift lines and dont pay 300 bucks per day for a ticket then visit austria, france or even switzerland (eventhough thats a bit more expensive). Also insane freeriding options all over the alps.
