LOVE, LOVE my 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid! I've had it barely 6 months. I had a CRV before this The gas mileage is twice what I got with the CRV. It's a perfect size for me. I don't need a larger SUV and the Cross was a clear winner with the Hybrid option when I bought it.

@RuthHernandez-ce2po18 күн бұрын
@@coolstil I own the Corolla cross and it is just fine for my needs. It is not too big which is right for me but I can still fit four people in the car if I ever want to (which is almost never.) It has plenty of cargo space, especially when I put the seats down. It is easy to get into and out of when I take my handicapped elderly friend to the doctor. Her wheel chair fits nicely in the back of the car. The car is easy for me to drive and because it is not too big it is easy to park in most places. My sister has driven my car some and she also likes it. I did not buy the hybrid. Mine is a regular gas engine but for the price and the amount of driving I do that is fine for me.

I like all the SUV's in your top ten. Although you went too quick to list all the details, you mentioned the important things that help you reach your conclusion. I have test driven most of them, but excluded the smaller ones, and I agree with the CRV hybrid as a top pick. There was one major issue aI had with the CRV, no spare tire. I consider this a major safety issue and it needs to be considered for the next generation of SUV's and cars. At least trucks still include a full size spare tire, which was the stndard for all vehicles in the past.

No doubt the CRV hybrid is a good SUV, but I wouldn´t say it is more reliable than the RAV4 hybrid, it already has recalls about fuel pumps and sticky steering wheel. I would wait for the upgraded versions. Not sure how the hybrid is going to work out if they keep the boxer engine. Unless you absolutely have to have top-notch all-wheel drive, I would avoid Subarus because they are tire grinders. The mechanical drivetrain is more expensive to maintain also. I love the "slip and grip" all-wheel drive Toyota hybrid all-wheel drive platforms. So solid they're using it in the Mazda CX-50 now. That 2.5 liter naturally aspirated Toyota engine is a reliability beast and the ecvts are a bulletproof drivetrain. Near zero repairs.

@@rt61256125Toyota has been perfecting it's hybrid system for nearly 30 years. The ECVT Toyota uses is practically bulletproof. It has nothing in common with a standard CVT transmission whatsoever. Unlike both a standard CVT, or a standard transmission that has multiple clutches that are literally designed to wear out, Toyota's ECVT will last a lifetime if fluids are properly replaced in a timely manner. The naturally aspirated 2.5 liter engine, has no turbocharger to fail or maintain. Toyota paired with it In the RAV4 Hybrid and Venza is now being used in the Mazda CX-50. The battery in the Venza is actually a lithium chemistry which is an improvement over the nickel metal hydride in the RAV4 and Mazda CX 50. You should still be able to buy a new 2024. The stargaze roof in the limited model is a bit gimmicky, other than that I have no complaints.

I think there are a couple of big recalls on the CRV hybrid (also affects other Honda hybrids). Something to do with the steering (?) and a possible fuel leak (could cause a fire). It's still a good vehicle to check out, but I don't think it's better or more reliable than Toyota's system (which has been around almost 30 years now).
@carhelpcornerАй бұрын
All automakers have recalls. Usually it's not a dealbreaker. Honda's hybrid system is in its 3rd generation and has been used for over 10 years, so it's pretty close to Toyota.
@jeffer1101Ай бұрын
@@carhelpcorner I don't disagree that it is a decent system. However, I do think Toyota's system is much more mature and very well established as a benchmark for quality, efficiency and reliability. @brettodonnell4187Ай бұрын
The steering recall is on a number of Honda vehicles including non-hybrid CR-Vs and Civics and doesn't really have anything to do with the Hybrid system. Ditto for the fuel pump. @ztekzАй бұрын
While Toyota is more known for having better overall reliability than Honda, Honda isn’t too far behind as they’ve also been doing hybrids for over 2 decades. Recalls happen all the time (look at Hyundai/Kia heck even Toyota pick ups lately) but that doesn’t define reliability and longevity
@AwesomeJoe007Ай бұрын
Honda may be doing hybrids for 2 decades, but it comes and goes. And every time they reintroduce their hybrid, it's always a different hybrid system as the hybrid that they have right now. So, that's still relatively new. People are not so receptive about Honda hybrids as they haven't succeeded since 2 decades ago.
@TheMrJourneyerАй бұрын
@@AwesomeJoe007 I was talking to a local dealer (not in the US) and they said that they stocked up last year on gen2 Honda Insight hybrid engine components because they should be due for replacement starting 2023 or so. The average age of that car is ~12 years. One year on, they have yet to get an engine replacement request. So if those older hybrids were already pretty reliable, these newer hybrids will only be even more reliable IMO.
@brettodonnell4187Ай бұрын
It's a 3rd gen of the system that was introduced in the Accord in 2014 so while it's obviously been tweaked since 2014 it has been in use for a decade now. Because of inflation and tighter budgets, people want to make a smart purchase. A lot of buyers out there do look for reliability and resale value. If you know he’s gonna trend this way then why do you come to complain at all? Just go to a channel that serves you. Yes you only live once but that doesn’t mean you have to be happy by putting yourself into unnecessary debt. The way that you enjoy life is you enjoy your family and friends and a romantic partner if you have one and to go and see and do things. Life isnt about cars. I think most people view cars as a means to an end.

@ read first what I’ve commented and then reply! I’ve said we don’t care about reliability in Canada since we don’t drive same cars more than 4/5 years. The only reason you’ll buy a 10 years old car in here is because you’re broke or teenager. Most of the people who are chasing reliable new cars are the ones who immigrated from poor countries and still have this mentality of buying a lifetime car or senior people who don’t care about design or driving experience. Because the driving experience in Toyota or Honda is horrible. They aren’t made for fun

The interesting thing is that if you buy one of the ultra reliable models to only keep for 3-4 years, you STILL win! The most reliable models also have the highest resale value, so you get most of your money back when you trade them after a few years. Just look at how much a 2-3 year old RAV4 Hybrid sells for. So from a financial standpoint, reliability absolutely matters and benefits you whether you buy short term or long term.

@@carhelpcorner about 8 years ago I’ve purchased my first brand new car in Canada and it was Ford Fusion Ecoboost. I wanted to lease but wasn’t approved since I didn’t have enough credit history after being only 2 years in country. And it’s important to mention that I’ve tested all cars in the the same class , such as Altima, Passat, Accord and Camry. I’ve focused more on Camry since everyone told me to do so and after test driving that car I was totally disgusted by the horrible driver experience. Super loud inside, ugly and cheap interior design and then I went for Fusion and I had it for 5 years without having any major problems even though it was Ecoboost . Plus I didn’t loose any money after trading it for another ford car. Additional to that, I spent an amazing 5 years driving this car. It was very good looking car from outside and inside. And I still miss that car - and this kind of experience that you’ll never get from Toyota. I never heard these kind of words from Toyota owners, they only say how reliable it is.

@@Ya-nv8ciTruly wealthy people buy 2nd hand cars or drive them into the ground. Buying new cars regularly means adding 10 years onto your retirement age….
