It had potential, but unless they made drastic changes, it was/is ridiculously overrated.

Its funny - Sekiro was the first From Software game i ever played - had no idea about previous From games or “souls likes”, never heard of Dark Souls - so had nothing to compare it to difficultywise - just “got on with it” kinda thing. Bought it because it looked like a cool samurai tenchu kinda game - I remember the very first checkpoint, when the enemies respawned i was like wtf?!??! Finished that and am now ploughing my way through all the other/older/newer souls and soulslikes!!!! Such fun

Ashen, or Code Vein maybe. It is tricky to recommend anything to a new player, due to genre difficulty. I started with Dark Souls 1R, but it is fairly old now, and the movement is very slow and heavy. Dark Souls 3 is a fairly logical starting point, but the first boss very early in the game can easily turn people away from the entire genre.

Games like the surge, the surge 2, and hellpoint, are well worth checking out and go on sale fairly often, for very low prices. DS1R and DS2 Scholar probably do too.

@@sagitswag1785 i tried nioh 1 on ps5 collection. just couldn't get into it cuz the mission format instead of open world or even open linear, felt weird. i've heard nioh 2 is massive improvement. i need to do remnant 1-2 as well. but theres so many great souls likes. i am gonna do wukong in 2 hours and then enotria next month. if you haven't played them: thymesia is a good dose mortal shell bleak faith (it's actually pretty damn good now - mortal shell world meets ds1) morbid lords of ire is pretty good too. like thymesia sized. metroidvania "soulslikes": blasphemous 1-2 the last faith grime
