@@randymarsh3478 not in a formal Match-Up though. 2000 was when Rock was made defacto face of the company. I'd say you're wrong, as it took 2 years of solid resume to be recognized as a legend in his damn early 30s. Thus, with his movie career now ahead, both he recieved amd passed the very same torch. Austin never had a passing torch Match with Rock. Just never worked out that way. It's circumstance that made these 2 formal matches torch passing matches.

Brock Lesnar I feel, was originally supposed to be the man of the Ruthless Aggression Era but then he departed from the company in 2004. Lesnar was the face of the era early on until John Cena came about then became the main attraction. He was actually there for a year and 11 months, not 2 years, however it was close to 2 years.

And Savage vs. Warrior from Broome County Arena, February 15 1989. Released on "The Ultimate Warrior" (Coliseum Home Video Release). @@MarzooqPrimal416 Completely the biggest of torches. It was the tip top of the tip top of guys giving it to the tip top of the tip top of the newest generation. It should be #1 on this list. The unfortunate thing was Rock leaving for Hollywood, so everything kind of fizzled from there. But at the time, it was the biggest match of 2 decades for sure. Electric feel. John Cena doesn't even reach it--they tried re-created x8 with the "once, no, twice in a lifetime" and I don't think it was anywhere near as big as WM x8.

Everyone loves to say Triple H's title run on Raw was an "ego-stroking reign of terror," but honestly, who else should have/could have carried the show in the early 2000s? Bubba Ray Dudley? Pre-JBL Bradshaw? Test? Rock and Austin left a huge void on the roster, and most of the other top main eventers at that time were on Smackdown. Triple H was really the best, if not only option Raw had at that time.
@pixxystick2179
@pixxystick2179 3 жыл бұрын
That was the problem tho. There was no one that could take that spot because triple h beat all of them. Rvd, Booker t, Steiner, Goldberg, orton, he beat them all. During triple h’s reign of terror, no one got over. Shawn Michaels and Chris Benoit won the title from hhh, but Michaels didn’t need the title to get over and triple h was still in the main event during Benoit’s reign
@dpenlow
@dpenlow 3 жыл бұрын
@@pixxystick2179 I'm mainly referring to 2002-2003 era. Benoit and then Orton got to shine through most of 2004 (before that Benoit was on Smackdown & it was too early for Orton), and then it was all about the build up of Batista after that. I'll agree that Booker should have won the belt at some point. Not so sure about the others though. Steiner was not in good shape when he came back to WWE. He couldn't move very well anymore. Goldberg did also beat Triple H for the title on 2003 for a short run. I was always unsure if RVD could carry Raw back then or not. Maybe he could have. Kane could have possibly been used better as well, but that's still not many viable options.
@pixxystick2179
@pixxystick2179 3 жыл бұрын
@@dpenlow while I’ll agree that triple h was the right guy in the beginning of his time during the reign of terror, it got really stale because raw just became the triple h show. The two best names to beat triple h during the 02-03 era were Booker t and Goldberg. But even then, Booker got buried at wrestlemania and Goldberg lost all momentum after summer slam. Then when he won it, it was kinda a dud reign because he was having long matches with guys who couldn’t carry him to a good one.

The Reign of Terror wasn’t that bad. It produced a lot of good matches and the best wrestling stems from a dominant heel champion always managing to keep the belt until a suitable successor can take it. That’s better than the title being passed around with short, meaningless reigns. We may look back at it with some annoyance, but it made sense at the time and it’s not as bad as people pretend.

Although Hogan v. Warrior was a great match, and seemed to pass the torch for a moment, Warrior clearly did not run with it (or was never really given a chance to). I'd say Hogan v. Yes, Hogan won the belt back days later, but the ending to the Survivor Series match saw Hogan at arguably his most vulnerable.

Not that matters but ill say it In after mania 04 i would say cena was the hottest guy in the company and most likely had the best year of 04 until rumble 05. To me batista was still just a heater for Triple H i would say after orton was gone flair was 2nd priority in evolution i still believe they forced the Batista turn completely out of nowhere for no reason other then the rumble and mania was coming. It started building for the chamber beat the clock matches truple h won the chamber match and 2 weeks later batista threw cena out and won the rumble. Everything worked out batista became a star cena became a star all i think is the only reason they picked batista to win the rumble was so he had a reason to leave evolution because up until 3 weeks before he was committed 100% to evolution. And realizing how popular cena was he didnt need to win the rumble because him beating kurt angle the next momths at no way out was just as good

Number 7 and number 1 make me sick. Hogan, Goldberg and Warrior are the worst of the worst. Actually make Cena and face Reigns look not so bad.
