The one change that caught me by surprise were the new items. For weapons, there's the "Sage Stick" for Mallow, the "Wonder Chomp" for Bowser, and "Stella 023" for Geno. For accessories, there's the "Enduring Brooch" and "Teamwork Band". Lastly, there's a couple of Special Items, which are the "Extra-Shiny Stone" and the "Crystal Shard". All these are earned from the "Post-Game Boss Fights", with the "Extra-Shiny Stone" being a prerequisite for the rematch against Culex. Rematch against Belome gets the "Sage Stick", which is just a golden version of the Staff weapons Mallow can use. The one against Punchinello earns the "Wonder Chomp", which is a golden variation of Bowser's Chain Chomp that's acquired in Booster Tower. Beating Booster post-game earns the "Stella 023", which is a laser variant of his hand gun weapon. Challenging "Bundt" again lands the "Enduring Brooch", which can help keep the one who equips it alive by surviving one fatal attack. Beating Johnny again earns the "Extra-Shiny Stone", which again is needed for the rematch against Culex. The Jinx rematch requires you to use a Triple Move that can deal damage to win, but the short-stack will reset your gauge to make you build up power, but beating him will earn the "Teamwork Band", which makes building up the gauge easier. Finally, the rematch against Culex earns the "Crystal Shard", which is just a trophy at this point. However, to even get a chance at these "Post-Game Boss Fights" after beating the game, you have to swing by Marrymore and use the special voucher Toad gives you to stay in the suite, which in turns triggers a cutscene that prompts a return to Star Hill, which also leads to discovering some new wishes there. Those unlock the boss fights. Order is given by the Frog Sage.

Why have a "breezy" difficulty when you can switch party members mid fight and not have turn penalties for doing it?

Another thing they forgot to talk about is “the difficulty or lack there of” even if you’re not playing Breezy Mode all these changes make the game super easy for those who played the first game

Tbh I totally want the OG on the SNES emulator switch app. That way all generations can love the game.the way we did. I loved this remake. Like I'm 11 again

I could probably understand the change from yari to Speardovich, how many people in the west would probably know what a yari is (in normal converstaion)? I'd assume not very many, unless you were REALLY into all sorts of weapons (and/or languages).

at least in latinamerican countries, it was explained in club nintendo magazine (nintendo power but localized and in spanish). Lots of other changes where explained there as well, like the concept of oni link instead of fierce deity link, rockman and megaman differences, kaiten giri instead of spinning slash, birdo being a guy, toadstool name, and many others. They were cool piece of trivia before the internet. And yes, to old die-hard fans of the game, the change form yari to spear is weird.

yep. Only in the west. (Yes, I know you’re being sarcastic, but I’m going to be serious). I don’t know why, but that was only in the west that she was called toadstool. All the years that she’s been around in Japan, she was always called peach. Hell… you can tell because they kept one of the lines for the first boss fight in the sewers, where the boss says, “tastes peachy”.

@@CallMiiEshmael you are correct. It was super Mario 64 where peach was first called peach in the west. Until then she was always called toadstool. However, they did keep that name, and just use that as her last name.

Apparently only the West had the subtitle, "Legend of the Seven Stars." To the rest of the world, it came out just as Super Mario RPG.

I think I must have a different definition of "Boss Rush" than Mojo does. I always thought it meant fighting one after another, no saving or healing in between.

Thing that annoyed me the most was Mario not throwing up the peace sign. Always loved how he would spin then do that. The hat tip is lame.

Apparently Nintendo changed the peace sign because Miyamoto doesn't like how it makes Mario look "childish" as the peace sign apparently has a more childlike reputation in the East. I find this hilarious as the exact opposite is true in the West.

I remember playing this in 1996 I was ten 😂 Still got it in a box with our '94 Snes.. Got few box up Nes & Supers all yellow stain from plastic get old. Who would of thought remake.. I should buy a Switch now Long time supernes, n64 fanboy in my day. Never own Nintendo system since then

Still have Original Super Mario RPG on Super Nintendo Classic Mini, I need to play it before i'll buy this surprisilly GOOD looking Remake, LOVE how CUTE this is, our old lreally LONG MISSING HEROES MALLOW and GENO are BACK IN BUISNESS after these YEARS, maybe I'll wish this Remake for christmas what's coming surprisilly SOON. It does help when traveling from one side of the world to the other. And some areas have multiple sections, so you won't have to fight through one part just to get to another.
