There have been some minors changes in the route, the Bandits Way star requires 20 dogs due to XP changes, the Energizer and Sleepy Bomb aren't purchased anymore which means less wiggler jumps as you'll have more frog coins, and the sewer star is skipped since the revolving door strat on Bundt has been applied to more bosses, so the XP route is even more tight.

I had an epiphany when I was playing and saw Yaridovitch's new name-that he's (obviously) the spear weapon boss, and yari is a type of Japanese spear. Also, and it could be completely coincidental, but Yari Dovitch sure does sound a lot like Maury Povitch, and I find that to be hilarious.

one thing I'm curious about is if there'll ever be runs for the remake with an "unbroken chain" or a "build and carry 999 chain(this's the max chain number) from mushroom way to the end of the game" type of category. essentially both're "if the chain breaks at any point its a reset to the last save/autosave, or reset run." its pretty tough. for unbroken chain I can deff see "if chain breaks reset the whole run." that'd work perfectly for that one. but 999 chain deff needs the leeway of "reset to last save/autosave". it takes at least 2-4 hours to grind to 999 with 3 goombas so it deff needs the save rule. Bundt+Raspberry are the hardest wall of the run with their insta-bite+delayed light orb. Boomer's a close 2nd cuz Iaido slash. Exor 3rd due to his instant-carni kiss attack. and lemme tell ya in a 999 chain carry low-level run Exor's carni-kiss is deff a run ender/reset, cuz its even faster than Raspberry's insta-bite so you gotta keep your eyes glued to the top-left for it. Surprisingly, Cloaker(from Cloaker+Domino boss fight) is actually hard in a low-level run version of chain challenge. I found out its cuz his attack animations for slash or knife throw in the 2nd phase with Bad Adder, are literally the exact same. you have to be on your guard for it and be prepared to reset since its actually hard to react to. and 2nd phase smithy's last as he resets you to the 1st phase if the chain breaks at any point during it- I think it'd deff be nice to see runners attempt these 2 types of chain runs, they're essentially the same, but 999's a tad harder since you have to build it in mushroom way on goombas(groups of 3) before the run even starts, while unbroken chain's much simpler. these 2 challenges really rewards the skill of blocking perfectly/partially and actually makes the game pretty significantly harder depending on if is a low-level run or not. another interesting part bout these 2 chain challenge runs is, in casual low-level run version, Jinx is the absolute freest boss. you can even beat the superboss version of him no problems.

I'm watching this video both because I like your videos and to see what the remake looks like. I have to say, I'm very impressed with how it looks; Most of the time, it looks like the pre-rendered CGI models were directly brought into real 3D! 15:57 One thing I was looking forward to after your other SMRPG remake video was seeing what the final boss's second form looked like; The original looked *really creepy*, so I was hoping they would absolutely **_nail_** it, and *they did!* 😨 His face is still just as creepy as it was before, especially the larger head in the background. I can only imagine how creeped out I would've became if they released this like 10 or so years ago, back when I probably saw the original version (and made a stupid ROM hack where Mario fights a scripted Thwomp boss while the Forest Maze music plays in the background).

I was something about how, in Japan, the peace sign is use in media for children. Miyamoto didn't want Mario to be seen as a character just for children, but as one for all ages. There are SPEEDruns that are hundreds of hours long as well and speedruns that are only a few seconds that could be considered to be slow. It all depends on what you compare it to. If something "normally" takes 50 hours to beat, then 3 hours is fast. If something takes 84765 hours to beat, then 100 hours would be very fast. If something takes 1 seconds to beat, then 10 seconds would be very slow.
