The 2010s brought us food trends that changed the way we eat both in and outside our homes. Trends like non-dairy milk and vegan substitutes skyrocketed thanks to growing environmental awareness. Bakers around the world felt pressure to create the newest hybrid dessert, beer was pushed aside for bubbly water, and party spreads were made all the more tasty with the rise of the charcuterie board as an art form. Insider took a dive into the best food trends of the decade.

Hot sauce is a trend? Black, Asian, and Latin cultures have all considered them staples for generations...
@fullup91
@fullup91 4 жыл бұрын
Well considering black people make up only 13% of America, and Tabasco was the wildest hot sauce most Americans experienced prior to this recent boom in spice, I'd say it's a "trend" that's here to stay.

Hot sauce DOES NOT equal to all spicy stuff. Just because a sauce is spicy, it doesnt automatically make it a hot sauce. Plus, most asians dont even use hot saucr. Its not a damn staple. Live in asia first b4 talking shit

Halal isn't blessed food. Halal is the slaughtering criteria and cleaning method. The method is called halal not the blessings
@KazMaw1
@KazMaw1 4 жыл бұрын
@Brosephsride it's slaughtered to release all the blood in the animal. This blood has been proven to cause diseases including cancer amongst others. It also ensures that the animal doesn't suffer as it's death instantly once the 4 veins or clots or sth are cut off.
@fullup91
@fullup91 4 жыл бұрын
Once the animal is strung up by it's heels, it's neck is sliced. It screams in pain as blood trickles down it's face. Just watch any halal slaughter. It's fucked up. No need to make up stupid lies about animal blood causing cancer. Many culture's around the world have thrived from blood sausages and tribes in Africa drink blood mixed with milk. Stupid lies about halal.

"Flat flavoured water is disgusting" Ladies and gents this is how you come across as a spoiled brat, humans drink water so that they don't dehydrate. What you want is that water to be potable in order to drink it. Beer companies already make a shit ton of money for example Anhauser and Busch has monopolized the market for both light beers and craft beers.

Interesting how things that other cultures have had for centuries is now "trendy" 🤔🤔🤔
@aclstudios
@aclstudios 3 жыл бұрын
That's how trends work though. Something becomes "trendy" when it gains popularity outside its smaller target market. Not something being invented, which typically happens way way earlier. Example: Sri racha was only used for a few dishes at Asian restaurants in the USA, if you were lucky enough to see it. Now it's everywhere. I guarantee most black people had not heard of sri racha until rather recently. Like the cauliflower thing, not mentioned in its video. It was originally a side dish on its own, or maybe chopped into stir fry etc. It became a trend when people put it in pizza crust, or made "mashed fauxtatoes" out of it.

Re: Number 7, the thing about "milk." First off, all those alternatives should probably be called juice, but no one would want to drink "soy juice" or "almond juice". Second, almonds take land and a LOT of water to produce, so don't even think it holds a candle to cattle. It takes 1,611 US gallons (6,098 litres) to produce 1 litre of almond milk. Over 80% of the world’s almonds are grown in California, which has been in a severe drought for most of this decade. Think about it.

As a vegetarian I've literally never been preached to by any vegan I know, but I have seen a lot of insecure meat eaters make fun of and attack them as a group with literally no provocation. Weird how there don't seem to be any vegans preaching here, but there is someone attacking them for it. For me this decade has been defined by non-vegans literally seeking out/bringing up vegans and vegan communities to attack while simultaneously claiming victimhood.

Graphics person - try using a different graph style for the increase in hot sauce. Does not look impressive. But if you set the left margin as zero and then moved up to a peak of 40%, it will more clearly show the increase.

Wow! I love your constructive feedback. That looked undramatic. If you set it at zero, it looks more drastic. :P

I feel like everything mentioned is a case of the Netherlands are doing it. We should probably copy them. Especially the CBD craze, I think Amsterdam were doing these products back in the early 2000's, and they had entire Avocado cafes when most of the world discovered spreading it on toast.

Fun fact! Where I live, it isn’t legal to call plant based beverages “milk”. It has to come from a mammal. It can’t even be called a “milk alternative” on the packaging.
