The more I learned about Suga, the more my heart broke for him. He is a loving and generous soul. He endured so much. BTS needed Suga as much as Suga needed BTS.

When I first came to BTS, and started learning about them as people, my initial impression of Yoongi was that he is a person that "Thinks deeply, and Feels deeply". I have since added " And Cares deeply." We hear so much about how he has supported each of the members; and how he extends that to those around him. BTS would not be who they are, or where they are without Yoongi (that's true of all the members, but you get my drift). He plays such a vital roll within the group, and he does it with intelligence and compassion. In a group of seven unique, intelligent, and caring individuals, he still stands out in his own way. Respected, and respectful, it is his quieter nature that allows him to observe people, to look beyond the surface to the vulnerable core. And that allows him to approach them in the way that is best for them. And I agree with what you said last time - Jimin and Yoongi may seem very different on the surface, but they are actually alike in a lot of ways. (In fact, each of the members shares similarities with one or more of the others, and I think that helps there bond.) And I honestly think the Suchwita episode with Jimin was my favourite, because of the way they naturally play off each other. Yoongi's dry sense of humour had Jimin almost rolling on the floor in tears of laughter. But they are both so good at observing other people, and knowing the kind of support each individual needs. (I've also noticed that Yoongi seems more accepting of, and more comfortable with, Jimin's back hugs than he is most of the members. And I think that is because knows how long to hold the hug, and when to let go. In fact, you can virtually count down the seconds to him releasing Yoongi.) Sorry, but I think they are so sweet together; and, in many ways, I think they are the most empathic members. But Yoongi is a remarkable individual. A stand-out in a group of stand-outs. And I can't wait until he, and the rest of them, come back. And I hope Tae gets the wish he expressed on Suchwita - that they get to take a trip together to see the Northern Lights. It would be a great chance for them to reconnect, and decompress, after their discharge from the military. Just seven friends together - before they get back to the business of being BTS. Thank you for your wonderful videos, and I look forward to your next series. Borahae. 💜💜

I think one of the most enjoyable things that came about via suchwita is that he quietly let us into his private life via formal interviews with his friends who then reciprocated by providing more humanizing info about suga from perspectives we've never heard before... like the intimate and permanent bond between el capitxn and himself that was almost born out of grief and struggle then going completely to the other side and hearing his friend talk about suga as the little maknae of their friend group that they like to cheer for. It allowed them to talk about him in a way that he otherwise would never have just casually dropped on his own.

Suga's my dude. He's amazing. We share an extremely similar personality. And as I always say, I definitely want to be reincarnated as a rock also. Its true 😅 I love his pragmatism so much. I feel this is such an important value to have. And so very, very rare. He will never sugarcoat reality. In fact Id say pragmatism is something I look for the most in friendships / relationships. Because, lets be real. (😂) So if I believed in bias, it would be Suga. But I love all the boys. They are all amazing in their own right. I want Suga to resume Suchwita so badly. Maybe he can continue to meet with members as well, as we would all love to see this. No matter how mundane. Jimin tripped on a rock last week and got bruised? Pffft tell is in detail, we are all a captive audience. Or maybe just meet with them during promotional periods to form a picture of how they are doing and their thoughts and ideas. Also, I mentioned that I 'thought' Suga dressed in a way to make Jimin feel less intimidated during that episide and got backlash that Jimin would never be intimidated by Suga. No, but being on ths other side of the table with the focus on him alone is a lot of pressure. Suga is more aware of this than anyone and I know, in my heart, that he would adjust accordingly. Suga has mentioned multiple times that Jimin gets really anxious alone. Go and watch the promotional talk show, in the green sweater, thingy and you'll see. He's almost hysterical at points. Or that show where he was introducing his songs on live alone in the silence. He even said he didn't know why he couldn't stop laughing. We know why by listening to what Suga is trying to say. Ok, rant over lmao. Suga's perception is ridiculously accurate. Like a parent really. Being quiet allows for much observation and information gathering. He knows all his members more than they probably know themselves. He's in the back chilling... but you can bet he sees and hears everything and can come to conclusions based on that information combined with educated guesses to render a full picture of what a member may be feeling, going through, etc. Also he has a stack of very valuable wisdom to be dispensed as needed and / or integrated into new music. Its absolutely mindblowing and I love that you covered Suga here as I think he's such an amazing person. He's always the one I look at when something's up. His poker face is strong but you can still gather insight. Thank you so much for covering this topic! I hope he's ok in boot camp. RM had slipped up in a live and said Suga was struggling in the military. Ever since then I've been worried. Because, can you see someone ordering Suga around and putting him on a strict schedule? I believe Suga is the one that values his autonomy the most. So having someone on you 24/7 is probably a nightmare for him. Also the status vs age situation. He is older than most recruits and I'm sure it chafes when he's being ordered around by, what amounts to, children compared to him. (Love you Yoongi. It's not forever. Its ok to struggle but you always get through the rough patches with grace as evidenced by your music. I look forward to the stack of songs you bring back. I bet there's a lot to parse) Ok I typed a lot, lol. Sorry if their are grammatical errors, misinformation, misspellings, logic errors etc. I'm experiencing some cognitive issues currently and I'm unsure what I even accomplished haha. I really had just wanted to say thank you then started on the word vomit, sorry. >_>

I learned to never judge a book by its cover. I use to take the train to work everyday and there was this lady waiting for the train also that we all thought was mean and antisocial. One day we noticed we hadn't seen her for awhile. One of the other commuters that knew her told us she died. We didn't know she was terminally ill and had a special needs child she was worried about. Needless to say we all felt bad for assuming she wasn't friendly. That's why when I first saw Suga I never thought he was cold. I knew there had to be a reason for his demeanor. When RM said listen to their music because they are telling their stories, I began to hear in Suga's lyrics his story. It's all there, a perfect example is Amygdala. Imagine a young kid from humble beginnings trying to make it in a field he loves against his parents wishes. He gets hurt and fears being let go from the group. His parents have costly health issues, and I'm sure there were many other concerns we know nothing about. So yes I can understand why he didn't act like a bundle of joy all the time. Suga feels things very deeply and when he sees others hurting he wants to help in any way he can. I've noticed he has open up a lot more especially with his show. He's in a better place mentally and physically and it shows. He has nothing further to prove, he made it and can take care of his love ones. This just my observation and opinion. I really like your videos.

There could never be too much talking about Yoongi. He was always one of the main draws I had towards Bangtan. Learning about him made me want to learn all of their stories. I've spent my life letting music be the one thing I could count on and help me understand myself and speak up to others, but I never really cared this deeply for a group. There is just something about them as individuals, thats makes them what they are as a whole so deeply special. That sounds nuts but if you know THEM, and how can we not when they have always been transparent, they you know what I mean. They draw you in but it's not a gimmick. It's real. They want that connection as badly as we do. Yoongi, in my opinion leads by example in that way. When he is open to do being OPEN and letting the truth be told about himself and letting us see all there is, it allows the others to feel confident to do the same as they grew up. Thank you for this piece and yes, by all means, talk more more more about Mr. Meow Meow anytime :)

I think Suga has always been caring and sensitive but outwardly he didn’t always show it. I believe in part that was because he was in pain for so long with his bad shoulder. When you’re in pain it takes over whether you want it to or not. I noticed the change in him as soon as he came back. He probably did a lot of growing/thinking while he was off but he was much more outgoing and talkative and smiled much more. Without that pain taking over his mind and body we saw the real Suga especially on Suchwita. I’m so glad as he seems much happier these days and can’t wait for them to come back. It’s going to be exciting! 💜🇨🇦

If there is truly reincarnation, Suga has done it. He is truly an old soul and wise beyond his years. I have a 30 y.o. son that I tell he was never young. Suga is ancient. And also very lovable. Thank you for what you do.😊
@leahwarburton8 ай бұрын
i agree, Yoongi is wise beyond his years. At times he feels like he understands people so well, because he has been doing it for centuries. Tae is another old, but innocent soul. Namjoon has a maturity remarkable in one so young (and yes, he's still young enough to be my son). Jimin, also, has an almost eternal quality about him.... In fact, it would not surprise me if they had all been reincarnated; some more than once. Nor would it surprise me if they had all been connected in some way in past lives - whether it be two, three, or more. In which case Hobi would be right, and it's fate that they all came together. I'm sure your son is a remarkable young man. My mother used to say there were things I just seemed to have been born knowing. I think she was both fascinated, and slightly unnerved by it at times. I've also had people tell me it sometimes seems I belong in a different time. And that's okay.

Your last point on Suga's - debt of gratitude - deserves its own video segment. As you know from being Army and being familiar with the Agust D D-Day album, one song in particular, Snooze featuring Ryuichi Sakamoto and WooSung from The Rose completely validates this point. It is truly a heartfelt heartbreakingly beautiful hip-hop rap song and proves that Min Yoongi is the most prolific and influential hip-hop rap artist songwriter and producer of his generation. Just a note, the "Dream" chord sequence comes from a song on Suga's Agust D first mixtape, So Far Away featuring Suran, another haunting, yet beautiful hip-hop rap song. Suga re-recorded this song featuring Jin and JK, and as an Army I prefer the Jin and JK version better.

In fact , besides their amazing talent, what I absolutely love about our 7 kings is they really seem so humble, kind, funny and really good people! I actually fear for them to be too influenced by the west! Especially Hollywood! I’m afraid they will be tempted by a lot of the wrong things. Maybe I’m just an old Army who wants to watch out for them like my sons! Maybe I have no idea of what they are exposed to in the K-pop world. They are just so precious.

I agree. I wish they would use their incredible influence and fan base to reshape the American Music Industry rather than try and conform to it like I feel they are doing at times (i.e., JK's initial solo songs - at least the work improved as he went along). I sometimes suspect they don't truly understand their popularity in the west - being surprised at how many men were at their PTD concert, Suga saying he needed to include English lyrics so US fans could have something to sing along at his concerts, then finding out the entire crowds are singing everything with him in Korean, or J-Hope not anticipating that his Lollapalooza concert would be packed with Army... So many people of all ages are listening to BTS rather than what is being manufactured and put out by the American Music industry. They don't have to conform - just continue to do what they are doing and forge the path needed to push back against the chart manipulations and lack of radio play.

I agree about the "shipping" and their personal relationships... none of our business. They're mature adults and we need to be mature, too. Besides, they have NOT come out and said anything about their romantic relationships or sexual preferences. So to imply something otherwise is not doing the members any service to do so. In fact, it's almost mean-spirited, cruel, and defamation of character. We need to mind our own business and stop doing this "shipping"; just leave them alone.

The most direct was actually Yoongi's claim to bisexuality... maybe, We do know they are suportive and people are curious. Am I interested? Sure. But I have no right to it and that is the way it should be. I found it so strange when people tried used they/them/her pronouns for Jimin because of what was written on his hand during the Map Of The Soul concert. It is annoying how shippers argue. Personally i think they do not see the members quiet as real - because of the narratives in TV shows/movies they forget that this is another culture and individuals can be very random (also we only see a small percentage of their live). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

When JK and V say that Suga is the hyung they admire most right now I understand why.

Thank you for not doing the personal relationships. It seems to me every shipper out there wants to turn every channel into a shipping channel. I can't tell you how many I request KZbin to remove from my feed daily!!!!

I never responded to your query to comment about love language. My love language is Gifting. However as live a very humble life I am unable to so when i want to so I have a secondary love language: Words of affirmation. I treat words of affirmation as giving vocal gifts. I can be more generous this way :)

Kpop companies encourage shipping, can shippers be blamed when the artist's themselves feed into the shipping? Shipping can turn a band into overnight stars these day's, I wish this was talked about more as it might put shippers feet back on the ground when they realize its all theater?

This industry works in the blurry limit between real and fiction similar to a reality tv program. The " story" is never completed is expected to find crumbs and conect the dots. Some people treat this as any other ficcional show, as each artist persona as not their 100% self, and create their own intrepretations / fanfictions to create sense or fun of the partten they are seen or seaching for, or idealizing for. Until here there isnt much harm, but the ettiquete of how to comunicate with other fan and specially diretly with the artists is where things get Messy. Some companies ask the artists to play along with those ideias, saying witch member would they date, or calling other very romantic coded pet names etc. Limitis that actors dont usually Cros and usually break the 4th wall to say so like : " i would never date such slezy *Character*, I am happly in a relationship ". Never breaking the fiction idea and reinforcing it by playing along, makes the limit less clear specially for younger / naiver fan that will continue and test the etiquete even furter to the point of rudness or disconfort of the artist. I remember years ago in a talking show the present had bring very nude/ sexy fan art to actors about their character in a story with only a few drops of a hint of romance / sex. The actors where horrorizied but still tring to be polited acknowlaging the talent of the artist. The presenter breaked the ettiquete of respect for the actors and the artist by bring it up infront of the cameras. The harm wasnt of the artist for producing such type of work, but how it was weoponized against the actors. Some anti fans do try to use the own fandom in such ways by weaponizing the shipping culture to do harm to the personal life of idols, as to "not alound" them to have a public love life even if they wish to do so " because it will desapoint the fans " or have a peacefull co working space in fear that everything will be turned in to fuel to the "evil shipping comunity" so better to act more coldly to avoid that. There is never a 100% win because the fans as a coletive is diverse and anonimous. So how it is now is a self reinforcing wheel of not the most desired behaviors. 😅 sorry for the long reply. It was a subject that was rolling in my mind for a while.
@Cat-Tiger-Taegi-Cult8 ай бұрын
@SoraiaLMotta No problem, but it's not the casual shippers but those so delusional they've become toxic. I can enjoy some shipping videos because we see many older videos that have been buried due to overloaded content. It's the comments that become irritating, not only shippers but those who hate shipping both come off as toxic. There is some sense in shipping it gets artists noticed and provides a different source of entertainment, it's the shippers and anti-shippers that make it toxic.

Great discussion. So then maybe the issue is more about explaining the parasocial relationship? I have had to remind my teenager a few times that what she sees presented on social media is not real most of the time, because she originally thought that the BU was real. It is a job, it's called performance art, they are performing. I remember watching I Need U and going this can't be true bc Tae would be in jail, not creating a music video about it! I think that teenagers and susceptible young adults, especially, although not only, have a hard time emotionally coping with the parasocial relationship. This "ship" or that "ship" brings consumers to the artist/label but the artist/label, when they present themselves in their personal lives should speak clearly about the difference. There, I'm working and presenting a fantasy; but here in my own space during a live, I'm me, not my persona. But it can be tricky and lines can get blurred on both sides. It's like any relationship, you gotta set boundaries and inform when boundaries have been crossed or lines "toed".

@donitapolk9413 Tae has called out shippers, and so has Namjoon. Most just ignore uncomfortable questions about their bandmate or, like Yoongi, redirect them onto other topics.
@donitapolk94138 ай бұрын
@@Cat-Tiger-Taegi-Cult yes, I have seen Tae's and Namjoon's and JK's requests for people to not cross boundaries. I think the industry needs to make it known and it probably will start/continue to grow with the artists setting boundaries and sticking to them.
