I might be homeless soon, have about 6 months of rent money in my bank but hate living with my parents and recently lost a job. Might just leave this place and go homeless. Use my money to take showers and stay clean until I get a job and then move in somewhere. Might stay with a friend if he lets me

Don't go homeless. If you got the 6 months of rent money, spend them on a tiny lot and build something there. make a little garden. Much better than owning nothing, sleeping on fvckin concrete surrounded by trash and angry depressed people.

I live in an almost sunless place 4 hour from the rainforest. We get so little sun here that everyone has to get D. Best way for your body if you cant get sunshine, is good old sardines. The Grocery Outlet store here (cheapo store) has imported Italian Smoked sardines in olive oil. First time in 50+ years I ever found a sardine that didn't taste like ass. They taste good. A few a day does it and my dog loves them too.

Visited Seattle awhile back. Saw a lot of homeless. Some are straight mean demanding you give them money. The ones I gave money to were super nice and polite. Offered local knowledge or directions. Or the guy eating food out of the garbage I was like hey man here is half my sandwich. He was grateful and polite about it. Saw the levels of homelessness. Seattle is a Great city.

I've been homeless on and off over a period of years living in Minnesota here north of minneapolis. Also extremely cold Winters and if you go into Minneapolis you'll find homeless encampments where people probably deal with a lot of the things you talk about. I'm somewhat like you in my homelessness in the fact that I have learned how to survive it and I get annoyed by other homeless people which is why I generally go off and do a heavily wooded area far from where anybody is and set myself up there where I can have a fire and I don't have to deal with anybody's bullshit. Makes it more difficult for the fact that it's usually quite a ways from any stores or anything so if I need supplies it's a lot more of a pain in the ass but it's well worth it once I get out there and I have some privacy and peace. Minnesota gets brutally brutally cold in the winter I'm sure it's just as cold as New York if not colder and without being able to have a fire it's pretty tough to sleep comfortably I'll be it it is possible as I'm sure you know what the right equipment but it has to be high-end equipment.

Well, as I've always said, they're homeless for a reason. They are homeless because they cannot follow the rules of society. Alot are mentally ill and addicted to drugs. The problem isn't lack of money. If you gave them $10,000 it would be gone in a month with nothing to show for it. I will help anyone who is legitimately down and in need but it's disheartening that so many are unable to be good citizens. 😢

Thanks Joey, your content is really useful and eye-opening for me, who have a brother who became homeless since Jan 23 in L.A. with his dog. He lost everything (high paying tech job, nice apt, friends) due to his coke then meth habit. Meth led to psychosis & paranoia. He is always talked about leaving the matrix so I think a part of him really doesn't want to go back to "normal society" which I get. He was always a prepper type but he is acting more like a child out there on the streets. We want to help him, we did at first, but it just seems like nothing has changed, he says he is stuck in a loop, is still at the everyone steals his stuff stage. He refused rehabs and says he is not addicted. I can't tell if his stories are truth or not and really have no idea if homeless people have any resources as he is always asking for help. He says he hates it but is doing nothing progressive out there besides worrying us famiy members. I'd like to give him my CRV however, do you suggest we do not help him, until he is sober ? I would love to see a video about families of homeless and what they can do to help.

I will tell you from experience.. he can only get sober when he is ready and one day he will.. until then, since you love him, the help you give him help keep him alive in the situation he is in, so don’t be afraid to offer as much help as you can offer… he will fuck it all up likely it happens to addicts , but it’s all part of THEIR journey and leads many of them to sobriety eventually, if they can stay alive.. so do not be fraud to help but with no expectations for he will only be able to do it in his time not the family .. addiction has changed his brain and he is trapped in there… I know all this from experience and a mother who never gave up..

But I miss the rain It rarely rains here. I was homeless but I never stole I liv d by the golden rule. But when I can was on the streets we did not steal . We were all brothers and sisters and you did not steal or hurt your brother or your sister. We helped each other out. And we kept a clean camp. I want to buy a portrait. Is there a way to do this? Not sure I want a pic of me...I hate taking selfies....maybe a portrait of my kitties. Idk, I'd love to have a Joey work of art. Let me know if this is possible.

I will at some point. Maybe one day I'll go out on the beach and do portraits and film it and I'll draw you one if you want

There was a homeless guy with is dog near the Walmart where I shop. I would go by on my bike towing a kiddie trailer load down with groceries. I would stop and slip him a 5 or even a 10. One day, I was riding by. That same guy with his dog had a cigarette stuck in his face. I just tipped my hat and went on by. I refuse to give to anyone strung out on nicotine.

What’s disgusting about your Starbucks story is that the wealthiest country in recorded history can’t provide basic housing for an old lady that’s probably mentally ill. At least in the USSR everyone had a place to live!

Totally agree. She was nuts. That's why I ended up befriending her. I realized in a way it wasn't her fault.

LoL in the old USSR she most likely would have been shot. It's known as utilitarianism. They don't waste resources on the weak in communist countries. Just saying...

@@Eightiesgirl yeah, no, thats a rule and a pretty good one. you really expecting the homeless to carry around $325 worth of cabbage, raw pasta, tomatoes, and boxes on boxes of mac & cheese. to what? ask someone for the use of there place to cook it all or just set up shop in the middle of the street to cook an actual meal or just eat nothing but pop tarts and ice cream
