Former Bonanno crime family member Dominick Cicale shared chilling details about his initiation into organized crime-his first sanctioned murder. Cicale confessed to the killing of Frank Santoro, a man associated with the Genovese crime family and a long-time friend of his father. The motive behind the hit was shockingly trivial: a joke. Santoro made an offhand comment about kidnapping a mobster’s son for ransom while intoxicated, which reached the ears of Vinnie, a high-ranking Bonanno member. Despite recognizing it as a jest, Vinnie decided to make an example out of Santoro, fearing the joke could lead to actual plans by other drug addicts in their circle.

He didn’t grow up in poverty. But his father or grandfather grew up in those conditions way worse than what people are growing up today. And a lot of these guys didn’t have their fathers because there was in the streets,dead,or in jail. These guys are not shooting up playgrounds in broad daylight with children playing. And hitting everybody else but the target. You don’t need to be poor to be a criminal or uneducated.The first thing you need is your father doing the right thing. If you listen to him in the other parts, his father was not around. Sometimes that doesn’t even work. They’re not robbing old ladies for their pocketbook and if they did, they would be in a street, 2 behind their ear. Grimy in ways yes, but they’re not robbing someone’s house and raping the girls in there, like MS-13 and others. They at least they got some kind of rules to the game.
