What you failed to mention about being sentenced to the darkness in wrong turn is that they didn’t just have their eyes gouged out, the had their hearing destroyed and tongues taken out so all their senses were gone. They threw all the people they did this to in the same cell/cave. The scene where the girl is running through that cave and she has to get past all of those people stumbling around and feeling their way across the walls is so so fucked up

Honestly V/H/S/94 was so unexpectedly good for a fourth entry in a decade-old found footage franchise! Best movie in the entire series if you asked me, even better than the first one (and miles better than the massively overrated second one, which only had one good segment- the cult one). The first story was a perfect blend of horror and comedy, with a fantastic ending; the second one was a bit predictable but still engaging; the third one (the one mentioned here) was just phenomenal, the best short of the entire franchise (yes, I'm even including Amateur Night from the first movie)- it's rare to watch something with that level of gore and come away feeling that not only was nothing in it gratuitous, but that the story was massively thought-provoking and poignant as well; and the final one wasn't the best thing ever, but was still a decently told story with a satisfying twist and some genuinely funny moments. The only disappointing thing was the frame story; the visuals were excellent, but the story itself was bland and confusing, with a pretty unbelievable and boring twist. Still, what a great movie overall! Definitely one of the best found footage films I've ever watched...

@@maximoleon3110 yeah it was so bad I totally forgot it existed until now lol. I didn't even know they were making a new one, but I'll definitely be giving it a go based on 94. @levischorpioen
@levischorpioen 3 жыл бұрын
@@Oldbasshole Exactly. You saw a film title and made assumptions as to what the film was going to be about due to previous false connections you made with films bearing the same title. The film did allude to inbred cannibals and beautifully used it as a cautionary tale about, ironically enough, making assumptions about people you don’t really know. I thought it fit the franchise perfectly, and to me it’s a perfect reboot/re-interpretation. It’s cool if you didn’t like it, but I’ve always found the “where my inbred cannibals at?” argument to be quite lazy. That’s not what Wrong Turn is about. It may feature them, but Wrong Turn is always about trespassing the territory of a forgotten demographic. This film did that perfectly.

I find VHS 2 to be so overrated. It only had one good story (the cult one); the rest range from boring to ridiculous, and the frame story was the worst of the entire franchise, so boring and poorly developed. VHS 94 on the other hand was phenomenal, especially the first and third segments. The third one (the one mentioned here) is probably the best part of the entire franchise...

@@oliverholmes-gunning5372 I thought the alien abduction story was very effective, the ghost cam one was okay, and the zombie go pro segment was good fun. Ratman was a bit too short for me, it was good, but too short. I preferred the vampire segment to the over the top cyborg one.
@oliverholmes-gunning5372
@oliverholmes-gunning5372 2 жыл бұрын
@@devonchafe2764 Interesting... I guess everyone's different! I thought the alien one was pretty meh (I hated the ending, but that's because I love dogs lol), the ghost cam one was absolutely ridiculous, and the zombie one couldn't really find what tone it was trying to convey. The Raatma one was a bit too short, I agree, but the ending absolutely made it for me. And the vampire one was pretty decent, and I definitely wasn't bored for it! But nothing beats the cyborg one for me- yeah, it was over-the-top, but never in a gratuitous way I felt. That one stayed with me for hours after I finished the movie, which is pretty much the first time that's ever happened during the VHS franchise hahaha. Along with the siren one from the first movie, Raatma and the cyborg one are definitely the most memorable of the franchise imo...

I disagree so much when it comes to Quiet Place 2. Not so much at your point, but when you say it's a good movie. The monsters not being able to swim raises HUGE questions for me, the biggest of which is how these things overran the world so quickly if they can't actually traverse it. Combine that with what should have been an obvious weak point to figure out and exploit, and what would seem to be an easy way to bait them in and bomb them, I just can't buy into either movie.

So you have to look really close during the first movie a bit after ...SPOILER Beau dies. When the camera scans over all the "newspapers and notes that Lee has collected and made you see a variety of things, including city names like Boston, New York, London, Bogota, and Moscow. That's 5 cities spanning 4 continents, which would be pretty impressive if the asteroid only hit the western hemisphere 9 months before the events of the first movie, especially considering the inability to swim.

Regarding the scene in Blood Quantum: It should also be stressed that, if a dude gets a blow to the junk during s3x, it IS life-threatening. Because, y'know, there's so much blood flow to the area, that if you get cuts or breakage or anything, you do actually run the risk of bleeding out. Erectile injuries are no joke, even though we want to treat them like it.

I know that on a list like this, spoilers are inevitable, but the least you could do is not explicitly spell them out to me before I even get a chance to skip through that particular segment. That Malignant one was frustrating. I had no opportunity to skip to the next one before I got spoiled. Maybe be a bit more vague with your titles next time?

The least you could do is not watch a list you know will be filled with spoilers. Next level would be actually paying attention and skipping the buts you do t want spoiled. But yeah, it's probably better to blame the people who made the video.

@@couchslouch3540 it is in fact entirely the fault of the people that made the video I expect spoilers. I also expect some kind of warning, anything. I did not get any chance to know whether I would want to move past that Malignant segment before I was spoiled. It instantly spoiled me. Most of the other segments didn't have that problem. Like I said, at least title the segment more vaguely instead of just telling us what the twist us.

Malignant started off great but went way cornball with the Matrix like kung-fu moves of the villain, to the ridiculous thing growing half of a body out the back of her head towards the end, to the wooden dialogue. You knew the ending about 10 minutes into the movie. If you had told me Malignant was a Uwe Boll film, I would not have been surprised.

@FrenkTheJoy

He said abrupt ending but he meant it was rushed. Just because there's a sequel doesn't mean that the ending needs to be rushed like they realized they had 30 minutes of story but only 5 minutes of runtime.

Once again, I watch these to know what movies to skip. I skipped over the part about the Quite Place 2 because I liked the first one and I want to see the prequel/sequel. And I did like The Wolf Of Snow Hollow. Otherwise, I will definitely NOT be watching any of the Fear Streets or any of the others on this list, except maybe The Censor.

Malignant wasn't that surprising. I mean... the title?! It gives it away before you even see anything of it. It's a damn medical term in a horror movie. If you have a little knowledge of the medical term and saw the first minutes, you can say how it will turn out.

So the Wrong Turn series was originally a take on the legend of Feral people living in the Appalachian mountains but the reboot makes it more of a serious concept since theres been more and more sightings in recent years of these animalistic humans that hunt and feed like an animal.
