Lynette, we have always interpreted the call of doves as saying, "sit 'n bietjie..... soontoe. Sit 'n bietjie ..... soontoe. It has stuck. Red eyed dove.

Swart mees (Southern Black Tit) is black with white wings and a smaller beak, Thick-billed weaver is brown with a heavy black beak.
