Late response, but I've recently started getting back into reading. I decided to read it a few months ago. I'm not a big poetry person. For parts of the book I was struggling with figuring out what was real or not. Everything wraps up at the end and its wonderful, it answered many of my questions. I haven't dealt with loss, but I've dealt with depression. It was very relatable to my experience *looking back*, as in the metaphors used were fitting for descriptions of how depression feels. If you've read it already, I hope you liked it. If not, I highly recommend it. Its probably my favorite book so far, next to The Night Circus. Even months later I'm still affected by it, and I recommend it to anyone that asks. I was skeptical but I took the chance and it's a lovely story.

One of my favorite books has to be The Chaos of Standing Still. I love how the story has been worded. I relate myself with Ryn the, main character, and kinda made me understand more about her and I love it. Glad you added it to the list.

Ironically, I saw Astonishing Color Of After in a lot of videos from your fellow folks. I remember this book well, so at least it is being discussed in my point of view, which is cool! I see Katharine McGee a lot in the bookstores in the Philippines. The cover is definitely beautiful. Hopefully it is something that I'll read soon! The book by Alice Broadway reminds me of your super favorite vlog! I saw Alexandra Christo's book & My Plain Jane a lot in BookTube. The other books that you mentioned, are books that I rarely hear in BookTube or even in other mediums (Bookstore Facebook like pages, Bookstagram, Bookish Twitters, etc.)

The Nightingale... OH MY GOD. I have never ever cried as much at a book as I did with this one. I still can't get over it. Last year I went to visit Auschwitz in Poland, so when I was reading about concentration camps in the book I just lost it. And her writing style was just phenomenal. It's also on my top favourite books of all time. Amazing video!

I didn't read My Lady Jane, but I'm really interested in reading My Plain Jane!! I read The Astonishing Color of After and liked it but didn't get along with Leigh as the main character. I do understand most of where she is coming from though, like I was trying to see it all from her perspective. I really liked the flashbacks to her mom and getting to know her family.

I FINALLY just listened to Daughter of the Pirate King on audiobook and loved it much more than I thought I would! I don’t even know why I had low expectations for it, but I ended up loving the characters so much. I think you’re spot on that a big part of what makes this book so great is that the romance is genuine, but without taking over the whole book. I love a good romance, but when it becomes the main thing that the protagonist cares about and everything else going on in the world of the story becomes a subplot, then the romance can start to feel forced. And at that point I don’t even care about it anymore. But in Daughter of the Pirate King, the romance is very well written and Alosa constantly demonstrates that she prioritizes the well-being of her crew over her own feelings. I love that she gradually starts to open up to those feelings, especially in the sequel, but romance is definitely not her number one, all-consuming goal. I think that’s what makes the romance in this story so appealing.

I received My Plain Jane twice, from Owlcrate and the month after from Litjoycrate (unless it was the other way around?!) so now I have the same book but totally different as one is blue/yellow and the other is purple/green so they're the same but they're also different. I also got Daughter of the Pirate King from Bookoutlet a few months back. Can't wait to read them.
