@@pegg9533 I agree! I am in the Dayton Ohio area and I go to SEVERAL DGs in the area ( 6 different stores just today) and I have never seen one with even a fourth of the stock that her store had!! I glanced down the cleaning aisle in one of the stores this afternoon and one whole side was meant for laundry supplies and there were literally TWO SMALL bottles of detergent on the shelf. Our stores have been really really bad!!! :(

@@wendydomsher1973 I'm near Branson, Missouri and have visited at least 6 DGs around here plus some between there and Warsaw and not one is as clean and organized as this one. Wow! I bet they would have more customers if their store was this tidy and welcoming. Pretty hard to browse every aisle when some of them aren't even passable with you shopping cart due to boxes everywhere. Employees need more hours as they are expected to run the register, stock, and face the shelves. For several hours during the day there is only ONE employee working. Nuts.

@@julietannOsfan1972 We can be unusual together. I don't care for them, either. I did think the gnome Kathryn jazzed up with a string mop beard was adorable, but they just are not my thing. My husband and I make stained and fused glass ornaments, and even though gnomes are a big seller, I just can't bring myself to make them. Happy Thanksgiving!

My son works at a DG near our home in SW Missouri and every single DG around here... well, I've been to 6 different ones within 45 minutes of our home... and they're ALL a mess. Boxes and rolling stock carts on several aisles. My son says its because they won't give their employees hours. In fact even the store assistant manager is getting less than 20 hours per week.... people are always quitting in droves because they can't get enough hours to pay their bills. My son was promoted to key carrier and promised 25 to 40 hours per week but hasn't had a week with more than 26 hours.

I like the large totes for our decorations we store in the shed. Other then that, I like smaller totes. My husband doesn't care, as long as they are the clear "see-through" so we can easily see what is inside.

So what's the secret to finding a well-stocked DG? I've yet to come across one that looks anything close to the store(s) you show. My area is shopped out, dirty, shelves are always a mess.

Maybe ask what day they get stock in. Like at my Walmart, all their shelves are stocked full Monday mornings, then they pull down additional items from top shelves if they have it throughout the week, or if a customer asks.

@@esmeraldagreen1992 thats because their delivery trucks aren't reliable. My son works for DG. Finally they changed it so that they at least know WHAT DAY the truck will come, which varies each week and they might only get 2 days notice, but they never know what time the truck will show up. Crazy.

This dollar general is beautiful and lots to choose from! Pretty much the dollar general by me has carts in front of shelving, to heavy to push out of the way. Even an employee was seeing me peering around the carts but did not even acknowledge that.

I see the dollar tree and dollar general stores in your area. Ours are dark and small, with a small inventory. Makes me sad. When my daughter worked at Dollar General she started buying the boxes. Her husband is so over her getting anymore. Love how you show the inventory of the different store.

I live outside of a very small town and our Dollar General stores are amazing. New stores are popping up on the outskirts of towns. Actually the best ones are further out in the country. Love Dollar General!

I buy those boxes all the time. I especially buy them in spring when on sale and pretty designs but around Christmas, I look for stuff I can use year round. I usually work Christmas eve so I always put stuff like hot cocoa, candy, new holiday pajamas in there and leave it for the kids to open then I come home and we have family time. This year, Ross had one it was white with a woodland scene done in silver so I'll be using that for storage in my room after 😉
