I carry a big 2x or 3x long sleeve cotton tee shirt for warmth and you can cut parts of the sleeves off for charring cloth material or bandages, filtering water and making improvised cordage etc. etc. I have used this for many years and it usually gets used 75% of the time for something. I also carry 2 extra pairs of socks rolled small and tied in a 24"x24" orange or OD green bandana and vaccum sealed. Happy feat make for a happy trip! Great kit and video!

Hey Andrew! I love your channel. Next level survival info. I just watched an episode where you gave a shout out to Corpral Corner you and Sean are my favorite Bush craft survival channels on KZbin. You remind me so much of a former Navy Seal one Bob Buck he and I worked together in a restaurant in Manhattan where I live. I've lost touch with him and tried to Google him but I can't find him. You remind me so much of him you could be his brother. It's funny how all of you former military personnel talk the same way. I'll never forget one time Bob was running the daily meeting during the summer and he said "it's hot I want to see water water water sales. I know we're all hot and tired but liberty is at 4:00 o'clock " We all laughed out loud at his use of the word liberty and he said I don't know how to talk any other way. I see from your show you are a former Army Ranger Bob was a Seal I never asked him what I think is a rude and unnecessary question which one of our coworkers did one day when we were having drinks after work and that is did he kill anyone. He answered the question yes. I could see on his face an uncomfortable reaction. I know as a former military person you respect all life and kill only as a necessity. We live in a dangerous world and there are forces and people that wish our great American life harm. But thanks to YOU and people like BOB BUCK I can sleep peacefully at night. Thank you for your service!!!!!!!

Nice to be able to go back and watch older videos when we are stuck inside. The 5c, 10c I added at least one more thing on all my kits and it’s a folding saw. It’s just to easy to pack. And one other thing is a couple zip fire staters, they burn for a long time and dry out tinder and kindling. Check them out.

In its place, I now use a Morakniv Garberg. Its a geat full tang knife, I just miss the awesome handle that the bushcraft has. Anyways, great video as always, I love your content. Keep it up brother. Great realistic kit. Some people add lots of little articles 90% of the time will never use. Worst of all is they duplicate them (redundancy concept) adding dead weight. With those items you have lots of possibilities. I would add a Bic lighter a Sawyer Mini filter and a saw.

Nice presentation - there is just one detail that jars me: cotton! IMO, it's rather dumb to waste such a limited resource as clothing, when punk wood (or just plain, weathered wood) is abundant. Punk wood chars readily and takes a spark just fine. Anyway, I much prefer wearing wool and blends¹ in the woods, so the only pure cotton I carry is a multitool called a bandana, as well as the occasional keffiyeh, neither of which I'm going to waste on making char cloth. I keep my char in a small (sub-Altoid size) tin box, which I also use for charring it. I keep the box in a small zip-lock, to keep soot off my things and the char dry. I just open the lid and direct the sparks into the box, which makes the whole process much easier. It's then a simple matter to fish out the pieces that caught. Punk wood for the win 😆 ¹ Due warning: it is written in Leviticus, 19:19 that wearing blends (e.g. poly-cotton pants or wool-blend socks) is a sin!
@howtogetoutofbabylon89783 жыл бұрын
Mixed fibers are not so much just a sin but stupid: Those laws are not to make our lives miserable, but safe and healthy. So from a Survival perspective it would be wise to Heed them rather than to mock them!!! A good example is that lots of survival gurus teach you how to eat dead animals such as roadkill and I remember one great survival teacher, and I won't mention his name, but he made a big deal of eating a baby monkey and it looked like a baby human. He died. Another great survival teacher teaches you how to eat raccoons and stuff. He is going blind!!! Did the first guy die from diseases like trichinosis and whatnot for eating so much pork and roadkill and baby monkeys? Is the other guy going blind because of diseases in his eyeballs and brain from eating crap that he made fun of the Bible about? Linen is good energy, so is wool. Mix them and they cancel out the good energy of both!!!
@PingHansen3 жыл бұрын
@@howtogetoutofbabylon8978 Actually, quite a few blends make great sense, e.g. the two I mentioned. Wool blends for socks (and I'm talking artificial fibers here, not cotton) improve greatly on their durability while giving very little away. Polycotton is another prevalent mix that can create a cloth with properties far superior to pure cotton. But they are still proscribed for those who profess to be Christians. Thus the warning. But there must be some advantage (like greatly improved breathability for loosely woven cloth) to mixing wool and cotton, as quite a few traditional keffiyehs were made from just such a blend. Keep in mind that those that used them were very pragmatic people who wouldn't do such things without reason. Nowadays the issue is moot, as cotton simply is much cheaper than using the old style, and thus more prevalent. As for eating wild animals raw, that is just plain stupidity! Like several Mongolians who contracted bubonic plague from eating raw marmot liver. Like getting Hantavirus from mice. Like getting trichinosis from eating raw bear liver, or brain worms from eating raw slugs. Or like COVID-19, which scientists suspect comes from eating yet another raw animal. I don't really know if marmots or bears are proscribed, but one can also get trichinosis from eating wild oxen raw, and most likely goats as well. Both of the latter are non-proscribed animals. On the other hand, I DO know that ALL Christians are prohibited from eating pork, and that includes bacon (Deuteronomy 14:8, and Leviticus 11:7-8). Nope, it's _not_ just a Jewish/Muslim thing, it is even repeated in the Bible for emphasis. Still, those particular proscriptions seem to be universally ignored by even the most seemingly devout Christians. Add to that the fact that ovoid "footballs" (mostly carried by hand) made of pigskin seem to be extremely prevalent in US sports, which is in direct conflict with Leviticus 11,7-8, But I'm certain that you personally follow Leviticus 19:27 (no shaving or cutting your hair), and do your best to enforce Corinthians 10:2-10 (women must be covered) and Corinthians 14:34 / Colossians 3:18 / Ephesians 5:22-24 (women may only speak when given permission), as well as fully respect the biggie, Exodus 35:2 (resting on the seventh day), lest you be stoned to death. But, which day IS in fact the seventh? Bear in mind that in the US, Sunday is day one of the week, so accordingly the seventh has to be Saturday. Unless you're a computer programmer, in which case you can safely keep working, as Sunday always is day zero, the result being that the seventh day never comes. And, forgive me for being curious, but do you (assuming that you are from the US) keep any Canadians as slaves, as allowed by Leviticus 24:44-46? They are foreigners, after all.
@labellaescrima19963 жыл бұрын
@@PingHansen Canadian slave??? uncall for Sir, keep your bible stories and your philosophy out of the Canadian way, deeply appreciated.
@PingHansen3 жыл бұрын
@@labellaescrima1996 Do look up the word "sarcasm" in the dictionary. Also try to google "Laura Schlessinger slaves". As it stands, the "New International Version" of the Bible, Leviticus 18:22 specifically states: "Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them, you may buy slaves.". For a person living in the US that would most likely mean Canadians or Mexicans. If you have any issues with the contents of the Bible, I would suggest that you discuss it with your priest.

@@PingHansen or historian seeing how the people that wrote it did so by observing the reality they existed in. When reading the Rubicon by Tom Holland I gained a better understanding of the new testament. For instance When Sulla came to power of dictator for a decade he implemented a mark to people who wished to buy and sell their wares. Those without his seal couldn't buy or sell within the city. Which I believe influenced revelations mark of the beast. Seeing how sulla came to Power around 88bc when he siezed rime for himself then fought and defeated any of his challengers. Establishing himself as the legitimate ruler.

@RangerSurvivalandFieldCraft4 жыл бұрын
The items I displayed are of my own choice and idea within the mnemonic. At no point do I claim I created the mnemonic. In my video and description I use what's called a "determiner." A determiner is an element of the English language which denotes attributes onto a noun that is regarded as common knowledge or accepted widely as such for which the common name does not require mention constantly. We use it often in sports, for example. In this case I use the word "the" to denote the longstanding author and the mnemonic; a "decade" as you say. Notice how I use the determiner in my response to you and we both know of whom and what I speak. It works especially well with esoteric knowledge for which it would be reasonably guessed that a majority of people would know, say the same majority of people who may watch a video like this one. Those people would understand the determiner and know what was meant. Had I created a helpful mnemonic that influenced the survival community and the industry (more determiners) I would think there would be a bigger response by the exoteric. I digress. But for those requiring a little more just read the description where I site the author.
