Aura Fracture is amazing in Hazezon, Shaper of Sand because he lets you play deserts from your graveyard, so not only are you not down a land, but you get to re-trigger the token-making ability, too.

@@OverlyCriticalAnime We''re not talking CEDH here. I tend to run into people thinking they can run 32-33 lands in casual EDH, and then don't have a land drop on turns 3-6 and just don't do anything. I rarely run into someone flooding in casual.

Sweet video bro! These have to be my favorite kind of videos since I also thoroughly enjoy scouring for those ever elusive obscure gems. I actually happened to have a few of these on my acquisition watch list -Avoid Fate, Arcanum Wings, Aura Fracture, ans Arena of the Ancients. Arena seems great in any non-monolithic deck that doesn't care about having the commander on the board. I really like Ashling's Prerogative too, and the rest are all going on the list. I love your work and thanks for the ideas!

Something definitely worth noting for Ashling's Prerogative, and I was totally waiting for you to add... Tokens have a Mana Value of Zero, which is an even number. Haste for your Goblin/Dragon tokens or tap down your opponents' tokens they planned to ambush your attackers with. I personally am not a Stax-type player, but in a pinch, this could be the answer you need to seal your best friends' doooom.

I'm playing Aura Thief in an Enchanted Evening/Constellation deck with Tuvasa as my commander, it is not casual. I have decks that half of the cards listed would replace slots in. And as far as I've bothered to investigate all under a dollar. Good video.

There is a 1 island cost instant called stifle that counters target activated or triggered ability (not mana abilities). Stopping a big ETB trigger and then crushing somebody the next turn is 🔥

The problem I have with stifle is that you could have instead just countered the creature with the ETB and had the same effect.

​@@NateFinchStifle is a card you add when you've already got a bunch of efficient counterspells. 90% of the time you don't really care it a powerful etb creature hit the field as long as the effect doesn't happen, and only needing 1 blue open for that is much better than needing 2+. And then of course we have things that can't be countered or cast triggers

Yea but avoid fate works in any permanent you control not just creatures, pretty niche

You asked where Ashling's Prerogative fits in? My favorite deck just so happens to be a Gyruda Companion deck with Yidris at the helm so it has access to red, so this would pull double duty in giving me haste and tapping a bunch of my opponents' creatures so I can get in with Yidris

I 'm actually waiting for my copy of Ashling's prerogative: I ordered to be used on my Stella deck as I wanted the most cost effective ways to give haste and I wanted some of them to be repeatable (Since if Stella is always hasted, it enables even more cards to combo off like blur or ghostly flicker) but I actually never thought about using it defensively, I will now of course.

Arcanum Wings was an auto-include for me in Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief. Now I have two creatures that could be Eldrazi Conscripted/Collosified at instant speed. Who you gonna block?

if you want your creatures hasty, play Urabrask the Hidden. its a 5/5 praetor that gives your creatures haste, but it stuns the opponents' creatures. and its searchable with Realmbreaker The Invasion Tree. where you can pay 10 colorless and put all praetors in your deck onto the battlefield. which in my Ovika deck, Ovika paired with Ashnod altar and the Tree will pump out all 3 versions EACH of urabrask AND Jin Gytaxias. which is an absolute monster of a field.

A use of Arena of the Ancients that you didn't mention is in decks where you want your commander to be tapped. I'm thinking Kalamax wouldn't mind a copy.

Had Avoid Fate in a deck because I thought a green counters is just such a cool gotcha card, however eventually it dawned on my that tamiyos safekeeping does the exactly same job, just so much better.

Aven Mimomancer actually went into a Noryan Dar Roil Shaper deck. Noryan animated my lands and put +1/+1 counters on them whenever i cast instants/sorceries. Mimomancer then could up the land's 0/0 to 3/1 and give them flying. Shame Noryan is Blue/White and not Bant. Land matters without green is painful...

Witness Protection, Lignify, Darksteel Mutation, Kenrith’s Transformation, Eaten by Piranhas, Imprisoned in the Moon, Frogify, Kasmina’s Transmutation, and Song of the Dryads can all nerf commanders. Avoid Fate stops them.

Eriette, the Beguiler would make good use of Arcanum Wings. Especially if the timing allows you to change targets

@@corydulaney1594 Won't be able to change targets as the aura comes in and attaches to the same creature, but it's a great way to steal a 7 or 8 mana creature cheaply by waiting a turn and swapping in a big enchantment

7:05 You also have Lifeforce, the enchantment with repeatable counterspells against black. Specific, but repeatable. I actually prefer Deathgrip, particularly in my K'rrik deck (where I can pay 4 life to counter any green spell).

Been upgrading the Yuma desert deck, aura fracture seems like a slam dunk in that deck, already running zuran orb, destroying the OPs enchantments seems so much sweeter than gaining two life

Just remember that you need a target to activate it. That’s why Zuran Orb is so valuable. Depending on the colors of your deck, look at Squandered Resources. Edit: Naya, got it - make sure you have Sylvan Safekeeper. Yes, it gives shroud, but you can activate the ability in response to itself (before the creature has shroud).

Ashling's Prerogative is great in my Master Multiplied deck because my commander and about 80-90% of the creatures in my deck have an even mana value. The creatures with an odd mana value are creatures with good ETB effects and little else, so entering tapped has no real downside for my gameplan. Getting myriad tokens of my commander the turn it is played is how that deck gets out of control quickly.

Love Arena of the Ancients. I put it in an Esper hard control/lock deck to counter a friend's Zur the Enchanter deck that he would terrorize us with. Every time he brings that out, I bring out mine, he usually just picks another when he sees it.

Question for rules of combat. For Rodolf Duskbringer, it states, "Flying, deathtouch, lifelink.Whenever you gain life, Rodolf Duskbringer gains indestructible until end of turn." If Rofolf is used to block a deathtouch 1/1. My understanding in that the damage step with no 1st strike or double strike then all damage is simultaneous. Meaning the deathtouch and lifeline happen at the same time making Rodolf indestructible during this step. I had the 3 players I played with telling me deathtouch before all status effects and thus activates before lifelink. Can you clarify this for me?

My problen with avoid fate is that it's really no better than all the green hexproof cards. I guess it doesn't have a targeting restriction (i.e. most hexproof spells mention "target creature"). I love it for the surprise value of a green counterspell and for nostalgia reasons.

Dude really Snakeskin veil is literally a strictly better version of avoid fate since it also hits abilities and it grants a +1 counter. There are like 100 different versions of this effect, avoid fate is the last one I'm gonna be playing. Also, Veil of summer is a counterspell, as are all the hexproof granting ones, you are stopping a spell your opponents cast from doing anything, same way dispel would. They are still counterspells, just more narrow than ones blue has access to.

Aura Fracture is an amazing card in my Hazezon, Shaper of Sands deck. I also have Aura Shards in the deck, which is just as good, so do NOT overlook this card. I imagine it would slide nicely into the new OTJ precon "Desert Bloom" with Yuma, Proud Protector at the helm.

I was thinking this exact combo for my Ivy deck! I don't know that it's super worth it, since colossificstion is so expensive without this enabler. But you could also use it as a surprise hexproof or buff etc.

@@NateFinch I definitely hard cast collosification basically every game with the ramp I include in my deck, I’ve played my deck 8 times since creation and never had issue casting it friend. However, of note, I do not play at a CEDH level of pods at stores. I play very mid tier pods with a modicum amount of removal and combo potential. Average game goes about an hour.

Arcanum Wings has been amazing in my Ivy deck since its inception. Everyone forgets about it, and then they die suddenly to commander damage. Cheating on mana for a big Colossification is great, but being able to do anything with enchantments at instant speed is so powerful on its own

Aura Flux? Nah, you want ENERGY Flux or Titania's Song I've gotten people with Avoid Fate Vines of Vastwood is a little better unless you're trying to protect a non-creature permanent - and it can stop your opponents from targeting their own creatures

Ashling's Prerogative is fantastic in my Kazuul deck. I'm forcing everyone to be attacking each other so either option is great and it really speeds up the game. Of course I always choose even so my tokens come into play untapped.

Came here to learn something, all I learned is that you dont exactly understand what should and shouldn't be going into commander decks. All this niche stuff goes in niche decks sure, but i should NOT be putting any of these into my commander decks...
