My reason I ran plaza of heroes in my decks was mainly for low cost 3+ color commanders. It functioned as a untapped tri land most of the time for me which is why I still run it. The ability was just a bonus

The Golden Throne helped me win a game. I was removed by the 2 remaining players and before I picked up to leave i notice Golden Throne and I was able to have my turn and won at 1 life

edhdeckbuilding I think there is an "older version" of Sinister Concierge: Dream Fighter from Mirage. He uses phase out instead of suspend.

When considering redundant effects on cards, I've started cutting the most situational cards in that category or the ones with the lowest low and replaced them with more draw. I've been using this mindset for the past few years and the decks just play better generally. You tend to draw into multiple good versions of your effects rather than settling for the times you get only the worst version. My new rule of thumb is to put just enough card draw in your deck that you start to feel uncomfortable, then its enough.

Friends have criticized “ringwraiths” in my Lord of Nazgûl deck, but for “the ring tempts you” decks it serves the exact purpose as Squee. The ring bearer makes you loot, get tempted by the ring and Ringwraiths comes back to hand. Repeat

I've been on the fence for the golden throne in my the watcher in the water deck for a while now. Haven't put it in because of how dependant on the commander it is to actually produce mana

And if you like Squee, the Modern Horizons sets also introduced Master of Undeath with a similar ability in blue/black although at the loss of a life each time he triggers to return to hand. Different angle, but if doing a lot of discard, then Containment Construct (and less so, Conspiracy Theorist) can let you play discarded spells, heck the construct even lets you play discard lands.

I took Crafty Cutpurse out of the only deck it was in. Just did not do much for me and was almost always either a dead card, or a barely limited level value, but that might just be a case of my playgroup.

It's interesting to me that you like Colossal Sky Turtle but not MDFC lands, to me the same argument applies - it's a land in the early game if you need it, and something else later when you don't.

As if Alela Artful Provocateur needed more additions, Canoptek Scarab Swarm is great in her deck, having those insects become 2/1 and creating a faerie is big for 4 mana in addition to the graveyard hate effect.

There's a Yu-Gi-Oh card called Sinister Serpent that's identical to Squee that got banned. Card advantage was just way too important back then. It got errata'd to efficiently only be once every other turn and was unbanned but never sees play. Honestly, they could have easily unbanned it 10 years ago without the errata because the game switched from card advantage to combo by then.

10:22 Sinister Concierge is in my wife's 9th Doctor-Clara Oswald Untap UpkeepUpkeepUpkeepUpkeepUpkeep deck. And let me tell you. The amount of horrible things I have seen this card shut away (either through unwise attacks or deals being made) or have people decide not to attack because their thing's gone for three turns but this annoyance will be back next turn. Holy I have a fear response to that card. I've also seen her use it as boardwipe protection while she rebuild, the concierge takes Clara away while she spends three turns rebuilding then boom Clara's back. Basically I hate that card irrationally.

Okay not that it needed it, but Squee is getting slammed into my Rielle deck for the humor. First time I discard it like "gross, a 1/1 for 3 mana? what are you even doing in the deck? discard!" only for next turn to come around and Squee gleefully jumps back into my hand. "No!" "Stoppit!" "I'm never going to cast you, quit trying!"

I put Squee, goblin nabob in my Asmoranomardicadicedanaculdacar deck. It's fun to watch my opponents wonder why he's such a high value target for the entomb effects that I run, but they worry about the archfiend of ifnir instead.

Crafty Cutpurse is really good with Curse of the Swine or any of the removal spells that give your opponent a token to replace the thing you removed.

I’ve been a big fan of Colossal Skyturtle since it first got spoiled. I’ve notice more people talking about how good it is lately. Glad to see my chonky boi getting his proper dues ❤ I run it in my Uro deck along with Greater Good. Both cards do so much work in that deck!

Crafty cutpurse is pretty underrated. There’s so much token stuff going on now and taking them is pretty good and will sometimes make your opponent stop what they’re doing. Last week I flashed it in on a 3 color Omnath player when he had a field of the dead and the green creature to double land etb trigger. I got 12 zombie tokens from him. I was gonna knock him out with it but my friend ended up wiping the board.

It may not seem like it but Sinister Concierge definitely spooks people more than you think it would as a chump blocker. It's that mind game they know they have to trip that land mine and lose something and gain nothing. Copy this nice lady a few times as tokens and watch them sweat.

Rules question: with the change to "when it enters" instead of mentioning battlefield, would that mean if a card somehow made a creature into a land while its in your hand, would it still trigger when you play it?

The change to the wording on cards with an ETB trigger is really just that, there’s no rules change it’s just a clarification they are making to hold newer players hands so that they don’t misunderstand. Those cards previously mentioned themselves because they were talking about themselves, as in that card. I don’t believe there is anything that’s going to change the properties of a card in your hand so that it is no longer a creature or anything else and turn it into a different permanent type but there are cards that could make your permanent enter the battlefield as a different permanent type and there is no change to those cards. The ETB should trigger regardlessly. Another example is something like Necrotic Ooze which gains the activated abilities of all creatures in all graveyards, so if for example you also had Sakura-Tribe Elder in a graveyard while controlling Necrotic Ooze then the Ooze can sacrifice itself to put a basic land into pay from your library even though STE says “Sacrifice Sakura-Tribe Elder:” as a cost to use that activated ability; the card is really just saying “Sacrifice This Card:”.

Scarab Swarm is a big favorite of mine and it’s Shirei, Alesha and Donal mono blue flyers 😂 the first two can reanimate it and Donal copies it to hit two graveyards, it’s really solid. I especially like exiling a Buncha fetch lands the green player is looping

Oh AND it works in Aminatou where you can blink it and you want a lot of flying blockers for your commander. Literally four of my decks off the top of my head 😂

Greater Good is solid but it will also depend on the deck.. Luckily Momentous Fall works as well for those decks that may not want said enchantment around
