The newest Hyundai’s, are much better vehicles now. The S. Korean’s are moving closer to the Japanese builders everyday. Santa Fe, V6 and V8 models, ( without turbos) Palisades, and some Genesis models, are thousands less than other builders in each class. Fit, finish, and styling show that they are listening to consumers. Kia, sorry to say, not there yet.

@@Z06ified Yes, actually I did know. Two points of interest. Some auto rating agencies have the Hyundai brand ahead of Kia, for satisfaction and reliability. However, recent issues of engine recall of many Hyundai vehicles have surfaced, which now calls that in to question. Time, as always, will tell.

The funny thing is, as an auto mechanic I agree with him 100% regarding all those vehicles that are available in Europe, the UK to be exact. At one stage last month -- April 2021 -- I had 2 Range Rovers repairing simultaneously, a V8 and a V6, plus a mini with engine out for all the things he mentioned and more. I know of the Mercedes GLs but had no personal experiences with them. He's definitely on point with his summary

spot on with the X5 . in 2018 i bought a 2013 X5 with 94k miles. My first ever SUV and it was in amazing physical condition.. Didn’t do my research (one of the first times ever) on this model. In a LONG 8 months i sunk nearly $2500 into it for the following: Leaking rear differential, frozen door lock actuator, replaced front control arms and suspension links. All work done at a BMW dealership with an extended warranty which i bought separately. I couldn’t sell this piece of crap privately and lost my shirt on trade in for a 2013 Lexus ES350. For the majority of German cars over 50k miles and about 5 years old will bankrupt you. I recently sold my 2013 ES350 and bought a 2002 Lexus ES300, one owner, 160k miles, dealer serviced from day one through 110k miles. Timing belt, water pump and valve cover gasket replaced all done at 88k miles. Amazing build quality. Everything works like its 5 years old ! LExus forever

A total lifetime of 5 years and 6 months. Unfortunately, our family friend borrowed it and totaled it. No more Dodge minivan for us since 2005. We switched to Toyota Siennas since then. I guarantee my 2020 GLE450 will last 100,000 miles. Because when we paid $75,000 for it we paid an extra $4000 to extend the manufacturers warranty to 7 years / 100,000 miles. If you can afford one, you can afford the extra warranty. No one drives these cars out of warranty. That's why there are so many 4 year old ones around. Oh by the way, we skipped the air ride suspension and got regular old springs and shocks.

Gary Crispin: The fact that you bought an extended warranty makes it sound like you did not expect your GLE it last for 100,000 miles without needing significant repairs. I could be wrong, but the point of this video was to point out those " rare " vehicles that won't make it to 100,000 without needing significant repairs. I recently traded in a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria with nearly 200,000 miles and it's original engine and transmission never needed repairs. My biggest unexpected repair was replacement of the heater core 2 years ago (10 years/150,000 miles). Any other repairs were incidental/normal wear items like brakes and shocks. Oh, I forgot, towards the end it started running through headlight bulbs nearly every 6 months, but that was my fault, as I had a tendency to " lean on " my high beams instead of my horn when signalling other drivers that they were not alone on the road. My current car is the only one where I purchased an extended warranty. I bought the car knowing this particular model has a history of steering problems. However, the price versus the odometer mileage made this car a very good deal compared to competing models from different manufacturers.

You are hilarious mate - and absolutely on point. I own the Infiniti Q50 2.2D and I think it suffers from the fact that it's overweight compared to the Mercedes C-class that it's a derivative of. You can feel the weight in the lower gears and during braking at speed. That weight is bad for the tyres and it's very unkind to the brakes too, both of which I have changed rather more frequently. So unfortunate because the power train is the very unbreakable Mercedes 2.2 D, which I have never had an issue with in my 3 years of ownership.

I had a 2006 RR Sport Supercharged, sold it at 85k in 2012. the things that failed me on that vehicle was the suspension air compressor, intermittent alarm going off probably due to a door switch, and the dynamic response system that would occasionally start doing the dippsy doodle when it hit a bump at a turn, happened in the same places multiple times in NC and in Maryland LOL, since it was under warranty, the dealer replaced some expensive part but it never corrected the dippsy doodling. However, this vehicle was fully loaded and the arm rest beer cooler was reliable and used often on road trips. I traded that for a 2012 Audi Q5 2.0 TSFI. I recently had an oil consumption issue (85K), I replaced the crankcase vent valve assembly and drove it 2000 miles, I got a 1000 miles per quart of oil but in town it eats it faster, 500 miles.

@@jessicarucinski8013 Hi. I'm glad that you no longer own that Countryman. I work for a dealership in Germany. There is nothing and I really mean nothing, as expensive to fix and unreliable as MINIs especially the old models until 2014 when the new 3rd. Generation Hardtop, Convertible, Clubman and Countryman came out. Fiat 500 are not bad in comparison. I mean yeah on a Fiat your suspension parts will go out a little earlier and if you got a lot of extras like heated seats, auto A/C or Park Distance Control the can mess up, but at least the engines and transmissions won't blow up, they will start, unlike the MINIs. Heavy oil consumption, timing chain issuess, high pressure fuel pumps, CATs that fail because of the oil burning problem..And they wiresystem is trashy.

Sounds like prior owner bumped the engine hard into the ground, warped the pan and damaged the mounts. A used car is never a good indicator of a cars reliability and quality. Do you really think they would tell if they nearly wrecked the car? Its probably why it was put up for sale is my guess. "Let next owner deal with it" basically. Sounds like you've been duped. Much more convenient to claim its a lemon of course

Sir, you are clearly knowledgeable about cars. I will say you could easily list any vehicle on this video and go over their problems but that doesn't mean its won't make 100k. The teslas have shown to have very little battery degradation. The model X will be just fine. My 2008 Navigator air ride suspension needed replacing, the coolant lines that are above the engine were leaking, but I got them fixed, 200k miles and still going strong. My Chevrolet Volt, 140k miles, battery is degrading but that doesn't mean the car is doomed. You get my point I think. Again, you're very knowledgeable, but I think this video is a bit on the dramatic side.

What more do you want.....Reliability then buy something eles because you buy a car because you love to drive a car that puts a smile on your face on a winding road. It helps if you do your maintenance like I do.

I took delivery of my G37S coupe in November 2007. Only options are the premium package, which includes sun roof and better sound, and navigation, which includes a rear view camera with graphics tied to the steering rack. The car now has 70,000 miles. In that time, nothing has failed. The greatest expenses have been major services every 15k miles and a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires at 40k miles. I've had Q50s as loaners. The computer graphics are a bit more refined than in my car but not enough to justify trading up.
