It takes abuse victims a long time to process what has happened to them, if it was their fault or not, etc. They don't come forward straight away because of the mental and emotional toll it plays. Also, no one would have believed them initally. This is Bill Cosby. No one would have bought that. The industry are the ones who turned a blind eye. People knew for years, yet it only got looked into when a comedian called Cosby out publicly. That tells me women had already reported him and been ignored by people who think like you, until someone who knew Cosby and moved in the same circles verified it. It was the comedy and Hollywood industry that looked the other way, not the girls. Besides, there should be no statute of limitations on sexual assault. Don't defend the guy just because he is male and black. Let's not lay the narrative that the black community doesn't commit crime or that a Hollywood celebrity isn't protected by an industry that looks the other way. You are also looking the other way if you defend a predator over the testimony of over forty women. This isn't just one or two, but at least 40. You also need answered my question. What motivation do 40 women, from all different places and different walks of life, who didn't know each other, have to say that a beloved figure like Bill Cosby drugged and raped them, other than it is true and they want to see justice? Why make it up?

What Polanksi did to her has followed and haunted her for her entire life. In recent years, she's made it clear that she is sick of the whole matter defining her life and that she's desperate to move on from it. I don't think her pretending like it was no big deal is right or helpful, but I also recognize that she's weary of decades of constantly being forced to relive her trauma and having her life scrutinized by the media. I haven't been subjected to that, so it's easy for me to think whatever way about how she's treating the matter now. I get the impression she'd possibly prefer that he never face justice if it means she gets to permanently move on with her life. And at the end of the day, even if what she said is unhelpful or even wrong, it's ultimately Polanksi's fault, not hers. He's responsible for the decades of pain she's responding to.
