Gary’s parents should have put the money he earned towards his treatment. Poor guy was so sick he needed a transplant at age 5 plus doctors didn’t expect him to make it past age 12.

My oldest is almost 5. He is a very handsome little boy. It’s not just me as his mother saying it. When he was around 1 I had entered him into cutest baby contest. The prize was $25k. He didn’t win. My husband and I both agreed the money was to go directly to a college fund. A few months later I was approached by a friend of a family friend asking if they could use him for modeling. We decided already taken pictures of him could be used and we’d be glad to take some more, but we weren’t going to put him into a pressuring photo shoot. The friend decided never mind. Like for cutest baby, we agreed that any money made would go to a college fund.

Ironic the Coogan Act did not protect Corey Feldman

It's because if the production is taking place outside of the 5 states that have adopted the Coogan Act, it doesn't need to be followed. It's not a federal law, its a state law and not a lot of states have seen the need to adopt it. It's sad.

There's also the fact that the act only requires a small percentage of the child star's earnings to go into the bank (I want to say its 15%). Its very easy for the child to have made millions but still only get thousands once they step into adulthood. The Coogan Act, its self, needs to be updated to something more sturdy to protect young ones and reflects modern needs.

I’ve read her book and listen to it and everything she says in her book is true I met her a long time ago at CAPITOL RECORDS Hollywood in 2011 they were doing a filming for the Food Network cupcake wars to celebrate the release of her country music that she did I’m not really a big fan of country music but I like her songs generation love is such a beautiful song and put your arms around. Someone is like a warm hug. and CAPITOL RECORDS Nashville was there and I was lucky to meet her is so sad but she went through with her life and now whenever I watch her on Nickelodeon shows like iCarly and Sam and Cat and I listen to her music from time to time I know that she never liked him because of her mom

No. the love of Money and prestege can become toxic. Better to hire a professional, vetted, reliable accountant and manager for a child. Loving Parents/guardians should just be that for a child actor/entertainer. They need a refuge/safe spot in their lives to escape toxic elements of the entertainemnt industry and the media.

Yes, nepotism and/or affluent families paying their children's way into showbiz is bad, unfair and should not happen in the dimensions that it does, but on the other hand in those cases there aren't as many cases of detrimental tensions and financial abuses that usually occur within families whose main income comes from one children or more (especially a minors/young adults) in showbiz.
