Sounds legit. I've seen similar backgrounds in Toronto and London before. Two of my cousins have my English uncle, their Sri Lankan mother, were born in Japan, raised in China and now live in Germany. I'm English and Irish, born in Germany, raised in Germany, England, Spain and Canada, also lived in New Zealand and the US as an adult. Currently in Canada. How does this kind of thing happen? Reeves mother is British and Britain was once an Empire. I have relatives living all over the world and when things get complicated, I've been bounced around living with relatives for housing and jobs. Especially post world war 2, Brits and Irish have gone out and lived internationally a lot, simply because the cost of living where we're originally from is a struggle. We get out and look for better. I have relatives in Turkey, Australia, Guatemala. My father has a large extended family that stay in contact and my mother is the second youngest of nine children. Relatives are always offering to take us in when we hit a rough patch and going to a new country is always a good way to cheer me up. I'm trying not to do it to my own kids though. I don't want them to feel as alienated as I did growing up.
