One thing i really wanna see is the introduction of a more complex legal system, where there are a variety of different laws that have to be voted on by your council. One of my favourite features in CK2 was fighting my way through discontent vassals that kept trying to stonewall my legislative agenda. This would add so much intrigue and complexity to the game and would make your realm feel more like a cohesive entity rather than just some dude's personal possession. You could see your kingdom slowly becoming more and more centralized as time passes by.

Please for the love of god bring back the OG boat system in CK2. Having ships and using boats and having ports was a HUGE part of history and is still huge to this day. It made playing somewhere like England better because you'd have the security of knowing your enemies cant cross the channel but also the dread of knowing your mainland allies will have a hard time carrying their ships across too. You could build up countries to be able to blitz to crusade targets to get the most war score faster, and also made it so raiding as a biking required you to actually invest in ships to be able to hold all your nice and cool loot.
@justdirt5 күн бұрын
What i want is really simple but the hardest thing to just do. That is, write like 200k more words of flavor text. Simply put, at a certain point, you've seen almost every single event or pop-up there is. Every new DLC brings a ton of content yes, but it doesn't change the normal day to day rulings. There should be region, culture, and faith exclusive events. If I'm playing as a ruler in West Africa, I should get different events than someone in India or Western Europe. It's easy to say, "Just write more," but as a writer myself, ik it's not that easy. However, I've seen how much writing goes into total conversion mods. Ik that putting things like this into the game isn't hard. All the groundwork is already laid out

They desperately need to hire writers, or if they already have them, hire more. A massive chunk oft he game is text, and part of the job wouldn't just be creating more text but also considering how those texts and event setups fit together. CK2's writing being less specific made it feel way more immersive than a lot of events in CK3.

We need Coronations and a more complex system for forming Kingdoms/Empires. All this would also flesh out the Legitimacy system that we have, which is kinda barebones (Paradox tied it mostly to Plagues and Legends and didn't really integrate it with other systems which isn't very good). And of course a Papacy redesign. Historically the Pope played a huge role in recognizing Kings/newly formed Kingdoms and for a long time the Holy Roman Emperor was crowned in Rome.
@goofygoober18165 күн бұрын
That would make the game significantly more fleshed out. Pressing a button and just saying you're the emperor doesn't make much sense. @@FromRussiaWithLuv007 I’d have to disagree with you, I think naval warfare was actually quite important during the medieval period, the idea that "navy wasn’t a big thing., doesn’t really make sense to me The Byzantine Empire relied heavily on its navy to control the Mediterranean, using advanced ships like dromons and naval weaponry like Greek fire, which they would spew out of tubes like a flamethrower. Also, powerful maritime city-states like Venice and Genoa built strong navies to dominate trade routes and expand their influence. Since Crusader Kings III covers the period from 867 to 1453, naval power was a key factor throughout this time span, making naval combat and fleets a part of warfare and politics. Therefore, adding naval mechanics would make the game better.

With how important Coronations were back then it's kinda insane that they aren't in the game. Mods have done a good job filling in the meantime but for a European King, especially in Central/West Europe, being crowned by a bishop/cardinal/Pope was SO valuable to political security. In a society so controlled by tradition and dogma, the act of being given The Orb and The Scepter by God gave enormous prestige and power to the crowned.
@herkles54165 күн бұрын
Going to make a little thread as I got thoughts on the various points. Also to feed the algorithm :) 1.) I do think that we will get some sort of Crusade improvement in the future. It is a highly requested feature, and the 1178 start date does make a lot of sense to improve upon it for then. that said I don't think that Muslims should just get the same thing. It should be more flavored around Ghazi and their own views of the time on holy war. This would make playing as them feel both more historical and different. 2.) So in regards to the college of Cardinals, I want to see them back but improved but also not all the time. Let me explain. The Cardinals only selected the pope starting in 1061. Before then they were effectively the plaything of the Emperor and the Roman Nobility. so in 867 it shouldn't be there, it could happen with a gregorian reform movement. But if you are say the Karlings and able to restore the empire or the Ottonians succeed in their ambitions then it shouldn't happen. This would also give the start dates different feels in regards to papal power and influence. This should come along with different outcomes for the investiture controversy and the papal struggle with the pope.
@herkles54165 күн бұрын
3.) I agree sort of. Maybe not in the way that they were implemented in ck2 but I do think having regents for kingdoms would be good. You should be encouraged to hold court in your kingdoms, to travel there and visit your vassals. But travel takes time and while you are away there should be someone looking over things, hence regents. This is how the Godwins gained power and influence, they were the regents for Cnut and his family when they weren't in england. 4.) So yes and no. I 100% think that you shouldn't be a member of them for the landed characters, and for the longest time I long felt that they shouldn't come back at all. and I do stick by for landed characters things like monastaries shouldn't be there. but for landless Adventurers, I could see that being there as a possibility and make sense for them. 5.) Coronations should IMO be an activity that you have to travel to. It should be like a wedding. And it should be done for other things, ala co-kings. Related to this should be elections. If you have an election for your title it should be possible to do some shenniganary and waylay your opponents with schemes or bribe others with titles and promises. Though in contrast to CK2 I think it should be there for all faiths not just catholic and fraticelli.
@herkles54165 күн бұрын
6.) I 100% agree. But I don't think it should be just merchant republics, but all republics. City states and communes. With 1178 Novgorod and many of the northern italian city states aren't exactly merchant republics, but should be playable. That said I do agree that with admin government that it feels like it is on the horizon and it is something that people want. And I also agree trade should be there, not just the silk road but other trade routes, holding faires like the famous Champaigne fairs, and so on would be good. In regards to the crusades, as the maritime republics like Pisa, Genoa, or Venice, I would like to see being able to make my city a destination for crusaders. Let my city be where you guys embark from at a nominal fee of course. For the republic government themselves, I would like to see a variety of different forms it could evolve into. Venice as an example went through a lot of changes over the game's time period. The government structure wasn't the same in 867 as it was in 1066 nor in 1178 and beyond. Venice would have numerous different councils whose power was fought over, in addition to the doge. The concio, great council, council of ten, commune of venice, signoria, minor council, senate, etc. All fought over influence. having the player do stuff that leads to the Closing of the Great council would feel great IMO. and mind you this is just venice. Genoa, Pisa, Florence, Iceland, novgorod, the republic emirate of Cordoba, all should feel a bit different.
@herkles54165 күн бұрын
7.) I agree and similar to republics I feel that with landless adventurers they are laying the ground work for nomadic government. In regard to trade routes, One Proud Bavarian had a mod with the various famous road networks. And it ties into things like travel and the like and I think that should be how trade routes work. These were well established paths for a reason and it would make travel down the famous roads feel well neat. 8.) Oh I agree. India is a place that should get plenty of love and care. 10.) going for a spicy take but I don't care that much here :P but to each their own.
@Tom-mk7ndКүн бұрын
Akin to the viceroyalty title, I think all vassal's contracts should have an option to revert to the liege upon death (unchecked by default of course). That's how feudality started and even some fiefs were not hereditary well into the later periods, especially after medieval states started to become more centralised.

Ideas that were not present in ck2: -Claims should give cheaper cb on titles, cheaper title creation, higher initial control, some legitimacy. Spouse with claims should give half bonuses. -claims on kingdoms/empires should be eternal. They still exist today 200 years after the end of some kingdoms. -house allegiance, inverse of a feud. Get by helping or giving lands to a house. Less factions, more gifts, aid in wars, better aptitude. Medieval houses coordinated to feud on others, so why not to help. -siblings partition. The russians had partition between brothers, instead of partition between your own kids.

Honestly, don'r particularly care for the claims. Meh. It's just resources. You'll manage just fine. However house allegiance? Now THAT is great. CK3 has always lacked the... personal touch. Even with the Friends and Foes DLC, it's kinda meh. Game would benefit from expansion upon the rivalry system and adding the opposite for it. Would really solidify its characters so much more. On topic of that, add loyalists faction.
@macdeus26015 күн бұрын
I think the claim inheritance system in CK2 is designed to represent how likely people are to take you seriously in addition to what your character might literally claim. I mean, IIRC the current King of Spain still officially claims to also be the King of Jerusalem, but nobody's going to join the army to fight for that. Having them expire after a couple of generations if no one actually pushes them makes sense if they're meant represent real political issues that might lead to real conflicts. Plus it would get ridiculous since every character would eventually have claims to a thousand different things at once.

I could definitely see nomads, merchant republics,or Theocracies as the $15, $20 or even $30 and it would vary depending on how much they are putting in. Theocracies could be the $30 assuming it brings big changes to Christian Religions, the College, and, of course, Crusades, but just as easily it could just be the Theocracy government and the college and that could be a $15 flavor pack. Similarly Nomads could bring in Asia and the Silk Road possibly being a DLC even bigger than Roads to Power or it could just be a government with very unique mechanics. Either way it’ll be years before all of it is implemented. I for one desperately want a $30 India DLC that radically uplifts the area, but realistically I think we’ll be lucky if we get a flavor pack.

2:20 Viceroyalty system would be great for some kingdoms, such as the Crown of Aragon (in this case a king who would have another king as a vassal, but with a particular technological level / special decision) or for ONE emperor of the Holy Empire having centralized his power. Added 2 opposite legacies : Centralisation (more properties) or Décentralisation (more vassals) of our kingdom. In my opinion the game must become more unstable in the internal politics of a kingdom, and more historical in its territorial organization, such as for example with the presence of ONE AND ONLY emperor for ALL CHRISTIANITY (1 Catholic max and 1 Orthodox max) ; because in the imperial title awards a status of vicar of God on Earth... Same thing in Islam... Only one Calif and one Sultan (great emirate repleace sultanat for exemple).

Admin gov opens the door for China. Adding the rest of the eurasia could be posible.

CK3 team 'forgets' that players are going to compare CK3 with CK2. To this day I still dont agree with their stance of not porting game mechanics that are 'going to be reworked anyway' into CK3.. Like what Paradox admitted, it does feel like we are buying an early access game..

Found a mod that lets you play as landless merchants and merchant republic with trade added

migration for everyone as it would be fun to migrate to europe as an asian tribe and then get integrated there

I very much miss some total overhaul of the economics in the game. Nowadays, playing tall is very much in the meta, and by roleplaying a king with high stewardship, you can easily set up the next few generations. That wasn't the case in CK2, you could practically always add something to your domain, besides, you could put a giant building anywhere you wanted, not in game-designated places like in CK3. Plus nowadays it doesn't pays to be a peacekeeper, where in CK2 I remember there was a wealth mechanic that grew with years of peace. It's a shame they've moved away from that, because for me CK2 economically was a much better game than CK3.

Literally never happening because CK3 is meant to be SIMS: Medieval.

If that were true it would be even wackier - which is what we all want

@@Soul_Tomato I'm just saying because CK3 has ~6 years left in the dev cycle so the chance of seeing any of these (which was already low) only decreases. 😔

Improve the combat system and add navies. That's the only thing holding ck3 back from being better than ck2.
