If you're a relatively casual player, I think it can't be understated enough that you pick a class that you actually enjoy grinding with / makes grinding easy for you. The class that you think would be cracked because of DPM charts and tier lists is going to be useless if it's eternally stuck at 210-220 because you don't want to grind with it. (Speaking with previous experience as a cadena main).

@@yoshikagekira1719 Nothing's wrong with her if you like her playstyle! She's a very strong bosser if you can use her. I just personally didn't like the whole animation cancel mechanic for bossing and thought her grinding was kinda slow.

Ye a bit late but I’m facing the same problem I just started the game and picked Cadena cause she looked cool and the learning curve plus her own difficult kit as a first time mapler definitely made my fingers hurt and reconsider and this is pre level 200 on a hyper character I’m curious who u chose to main or u stuck to Cadena I have Adele in mind but still picking

Pretty much every class is viable but you just have to watch videos on classes and see what sort of playstyle you like. Alternatively just make a character and level it up to at least 140 to get a feel (200 if you're on the fence about it as many classes "unlock" at 200). For example I recently leveled a Hoyoung to 140 and I think it is probably my least favorite class by far, just feels so clunky and unrewarding to me but I know many people who love the class. At the end of the day I still get the link skills from leveling him up though so I still gain for my main class.

HY gameplay starts at 140 as thats when you get tonic and easy training but for bossing he starts at 200. Pretty much all classes start at 200 which some exceptions.

I would suggest getting the characters to level 200 first, then spend some (10-20?) core gemstones to unlock the skills first. Try the skills out on a boss and see if the bossing style is for you. This is especially important if you are choosing a bossing main. Gameplay really starts at 200 for almost all classes.

If you come from the way the game used to play, it’s crazy how easy it is to level. Although I miss the dragged out leveling and progression pathing, I can’t say I’m not happy about being able to try classes I would never have due to how much time I would have to put into it. Very convenient! Greatly enjoying buccaneer! Cheers

I/L mage feels super solid. Only downside is that chain lightning can feel somewhat clunky since enemies right in your face usually don't even get hit and it doesn't chain nearly as well as luminous' main mobbing skill, but you have ice age, an amazing mobbing skill. Can effectively clear entire maps without even moving or pressing buttons for 15 seconds and then do it again in another 45 seconds. Just throw spirit of snow, ice age and thunder sphere on platforms and teleport on the bottom floor of maps while spamming chain lightning and it's effortless grinding.

Ive been playing Maplestory again after having to stop for a few years, and I must say that Aran has some of the best mobbing I’ve played with in a while compared to others. She really just makes it incredibly easy, especially if you can get those key presses right and its really fun when you do. I got her to level 160 faster than even my Kanna, who I just hit a wall with at some point, and I’d say it takes me about an hour per 10 levels if I dont have an exp buff on her.

i've only been playing for about a month, and decided to main marksman. It's been a lot of fun, the illusion arrow is so good it feels like cheating. I also enjoy how it pulls normal mobs into it, so it's very useful while mobbing too. Not that marksman need much help mobbing without it

I highly HIGHLY doubt it.... everyone levels from like 1 to what 50 in 5 minutes... where as old ones took maybe a month on constant playing pqing in kerning, ludi, romeo juilet, etc etc but Yea I wish they brought back the hard leveling system so it makes people band together and the community gets better

@@MrDavekee need to use green potion and atk speed skill node to be fluid. About the gameplay it's simple if u understand the class mechanic, but if u prefer class with less button press then Kain is not the class

The reason people ask who is the best is so that they can get a good start or a bosser. I ask this question a lot because balance is fickle and my favorite class aesthetically is Phantom. I have loved this boy since he dropped, but he has received so many changes over the years and suffice to say he is almost never in a good spot so I don't play him anymore. It is a bit annoying when I am asking someone this question or googling it, winding up on the forums and get an answer that reads "Just play who you like xD" Yeah I'd love to be leveling a character and find out they're not very good at progressing solo. People don't realize that wasting a Tera/Hyper Burn on a character who's simply not as good as you thought isn't going to keep people playing. In fact, I used to drop the game if It turned out that class couldn't really progress.

I feel you as ex-phantom main Now I swap to PathFinder and again it's getting the nerf route again, imagine getting same treatment twice in a row, it feels so sux while seeing my other friends getting multiple buffs and easy clear content. Don't get me wrong, at least PathFinder isn't as drag into the mud like Phantom in my opinion.

Seriously people ask because a strong class with easily progression get you hooked then you can switch up if you really want to. Playing a weak class for new players just means they quite faster.

Every twitch streamer says just play what you like. When people ask.. Every class is viable and capable to one shot in grinding and can boss.. I’m not saying playing the best classes doesn’t help you but I would leave that to elite hardcore players. If your casual your making a big mistake. Just look up class rankings.. every class basically has people 280+ so relax.. play your favorite class and progress at your pace.

I hyper burned a dawn warrior on a whim and I'm so glad I did. Already past my original Aran main and is just so simple to play while still feeling engaging. Did solo CRA for the first time, cZakum, and hopefully I'll be able to knock out lomien very soon (although my first practice run of damien he promptly kicked my ass)

Honestly Corsair is hidden OP right now. Cooldowns feel so smooth and align well with your summon duration. Massive burst and easier to play than at first glance.

i literally came back to the game (again) to one of the burning events and made an illium even to peoples dismay, and i fuckin love it lmao. its so much fun slinging the ball around and blowing stuff up. it was one of the first characters i finally got over 200.

Having main around a 220 NL in Windia, I switched to reboot recently and hyper burning a NW rn around 140. Honestly so far I think I like the playstyle of NL more but I see everyone preferring NW, even tho NL population is crazy higher 😅 so hopefully I can start to enjoy NW more

i might get slammed for this but, i LOVE the PathFinder -- mobbing is awesome with it. The damage area is huge allowing you to hit above you and below you. and to top it off you get a huge freaking bow that you can use as a sentry or just load up and blast them apart with good mobility. I am an "old school player" just returning once again. I just cant keep away from this game thanks to Coppersan with his incredible dedication to this game for so many years. Luminus with those grim reaper animations though!?! looks so awesome i might have to make one of those. i think my biggest challenge since i play solo is bossing - i seem to be hard stuck on crimson wood boss - the clown, chick, princess and just rock snake just beat my butt like no tomorrow so i just focus on grinding hoping that the higher level i become the easier it will be to kill those bosses

One part of choosing a class that I don’t see addressed is what does the main mobbing skill sound like. It doesn’t matter for everyone, but if I going to farm on a character, I need positive feedback from the visual animations and sfx. Machinist’s missiles are an example of absolutely awful thing that means I will never play the class. More personally though, I was hyped to play night lord, got it to 4th job and found out the farming skill has quite unsatisfying. I didn’t make it to 200, and quit that patch not too long after. As weird as it may be, I wish there were more videos that let me listen to class sfx.

Yes there is party stuff. But you'll be soloing most of the time... unfortunately. The old maple is dead. The new one is more on soloing unless you got urself a good guild for bossing.
