The fact that this program uses the word "abandoned" shows that the writers know little about the reality of climbing Everest. Also, "...never seen from again"? 🤔

A large part of the problem , esp with Everest, is that 'climbers' have insufficient experience or ability and pay professional climbers to not guide, but 'take' them up the mountain. These guides will take inexperienced climbers beyond their ability level sometimes in dubious weather or snow conditions. There "should" be a requiremrnt to prove you have climbed X minor peaks and Y major peaks recently, preferably without professional guides, before a permit is issued to THAT person.

The story of David Sharp is not accurate. There were a number of people who tried to help David by giving him oxygen, but he was completely unable to stand up and despite being given oxygen was unable to even talk coherently. To say that absolutely nobody tried to help or even noticed him does a great disservice to those that did. Just wanted to clarify that, and not in a negative or sarcastic manner so please don’t take offence. Ty ❤

@@irene_f. hello Irene, yes there was a call put in, I believe there was a group with a double amputee trying to reach the top and they contacted their base about David. They were told to carry on and not endanger their own lives. The awful thing is that the double amputee was targeted and blamed for David not getting help, including by Edmund Hilary! Like the poor guy could’ve done anything! It’s a terribly sad story as it is for anyone who has to succumb to the mountain’s conditions. ❤️

Insinuating these people died because they simply didn't carry the amount of oxygen that they should have, that they COULD have...is ridiculous. I assure you... EVERYONE hiking Everest w/ supplemental oxygen, is ALREADY bringing THE MAXIMUM amount of "extra oxygen" that they can possibly carry. A person can only carry so much stuff. Your comment is equivalent to commenting: "They should have swam longer. If they only swam harder. You should always swim your longest, and hardest."....on an article about someone who drowned after succumbing to exhaustion. 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻

Puh I don't know about that video. . You should really check your facts before you publish sth like this. Green boots was removed in 2014. Mallory was climbing with Andrew Irvine you could at least name him. Mallory also died most likely to an injury caused by his ice ax ( the one which was found was from Irvine ) and caused the fall. His body was found in 1999 by conrad anker. They went on a mission to retrieve Mallorys camera which could ultimately proof whether they reached the summit or not. Also his body is buried under stones. David Sharps body was also removed out of sight in 2007 so he is not in the cave anymore or "half buried where fell"

I love this channel but this is a very poorly done video and doesnt explain the realities of high altitude climbing...all of which everyone must accept when they set out to climb in these conditions...so many inexperienced Everest tourists die and risk lives of, or cause the death of many others. Everest is out of control and has been for a long time. Hundreds of people in fixed rope queues trying to get to get to the summit in the same small summit window. It's appalling frankly. I don't think abandoned is the right term for these people being left where they fell.
