How about there being a civil war battle in Arizona? Most people aren't aware that AZ split in two and the southern half joined the confederacy during the civil war. There was a small skirmish at Picacho Pass (about 30 miles north of Tucson) a few days before the war ended. Arizona also lost what is now Las Vegas due to their secession after the war ended (as punishment and to give water- the Colorado River- to Nevada which did not secede.) Tucson was the capital of Confederate Arizona.

There was almost no air to breath, we were inside of the part of a thunderstorm that is usually 20,000 feet high, it was about 200 feet high, I still hate thinking about what I saw out my window. I am a native Arizonan, a born and raised desert dweller. I do complain about the summer heat a lot because I do not like our summer heat. However, weather wise, I still think we win. We don't have to worry about hurricanes or tornadoes. Sure. we get our monsoon season, but, compared to hurricanes and tornadoes, our monsoon season is actually pretty nice. I haven't yet met a true Arizonan who doesn't appreciate a good monsoon storm. Most places I hear of don't like hearing that they have rain in the forecast - but us Arizonan's, we look forward to it. Of course, I am speaking of the lower deserts. I can't speak for those who live along the Mogollon Rim, or how they feel about their snow in the winter. I love my state. I can't see living anywhere else.

A really nice video! I moved to New Mexico from the east in 1990 and I still reside here. If I did it all over I would have move there instead. I'm a desert person and I feel that Arizona is so much more picturesque than NM in that respect. To make it even better it's a red state and it doesn't follow the daylight savings time B.S.!

These are pretty interesting. I've been in AZ my entire life and another amazing thing here, if you don't mind a ton of tourists, is Sedona and Jerome. Sedona is absolutely beautiful. And Jerome is a wonderful ghost town and it has ,if I'm correct, the 2nd most haunted place in the state, The Grand Jerome Hotel.

Ive lived here for 40 years and love the outdoors and Ive only been to the Grand Canyon once in my life. My favorite areas are anywhere on the Mogillon Rim. The Sonoran Desert is beautiful as far as deserts go but I HATE it here 6 months out of year. You can't experience anything outdoors during half the year because its over 100 degrees and June, July are 110-120 degrees. Its a nightmare. Nov-Feb are the only months that are enjoyable and you can actually get out and not die of heat stroke in the first 10 min. Oh and Sedona is full of spiritistic hippy weirdos that think the rocks talk to them
@BillMarion6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting! Like I said in the video, I love Arizona. It's awesome! The heat, however, would get to me as well. Do a lot of people in Arizona travel to mountainous regions with cooler weather during summer months just to get out of the heat? I'm asking because it's something I think I'd do! lol I live in the Tennessee Valley and a lot us do that around here in the summer. We head for the mountain creeks or lakes and cool evening breezes. But even in this region there are about two months out of the year that you just can't escape it. But it doesn't compare with your region at all when it comes to heat. It's funny when people say, "but it's a dry heat." 105 is hot regardless!
@musclerambo16 жыл бұрын
I have lived in AZ for about 30 years and the Summer heat is my favorite season of the year.
@DivaInTheWoods5 жыл бұрын
@@BillMarion That's funny to me that you said that about their heat. I live just west of Atlanta, so I know we both experience some miserable humidity! While visiting the west, I walked about a mile when it was about 100° around 6pm and never broke a sweat. Granted it wasn't midday in overhead sunlight, but there have been days in GA just walking from my front door to the car and I'm already "clammy". For me personally, that's much more miserable! You feel dirty right after a shower. Yuck! ...again I don't live the AZ life, so my 2 cents are worth 2 dead flies I suppose. LOL
