Maps are not lying nor are they inaccurate. They're made for sea travel, they show exactly what they're supposed to and they do it very well.

the scale is fucked up though. You can measure distance in google maps, and it will show you ridiculous stuff like Greenland=Saudi Arabia (which is supposed to be) but Greenland APPEARS to be 20 times bigger on their map

+Rebun Anouk No the scale is not fucked up, it's purposely made that way so you can navigate great distances using them. If you don't understand why what you're describing happens then it's not the maps fault, it's your fault for not knowing that our planet is an oblate spheroid and not understanding simple topology.

Maybe it depends on that most of Earth's landmass is on the northern hemisphere and they had to stretch the map out upwards and downwards so it could fit on a square area. I mean, not only the landmass in the north is huge , Antarctica is oversized as well. Africa and South America is small, maybe because they are at the euquator, the broadest latitude. It is a bit difficult to explain in this foreign language.
