Hi ! Call from Norway. Thanks for great videos on how to use Keynote. I have managed to crate a route on a map for an aeroplane using an arrow. I tried to do this with a picture of the plane taken from above, the plane follows the route, but the nose of the plane stays in the same direction the whole route. Can I fix this in Keynote ?

You can try by using a rotation animation as well as a movement animation, but it will be very difficult to coordinate.

Thanks mate this was great and incredibly helpful, but how did you shrink the screen so the text could fly out of view at the 3:55 mark. Cheers ✌️

Great tutorial, thank you! Question for ya: is there an effect I can use that will 'draw' one letter of a word at a time, rather than the full letter of a word just appearing at a time? Thanks
@macmost
@macmost Жыл бұрын
Yes. "Keyboard."
@BrentSexton-uj1cj
@BrentSexton-uj1cj Жыл бұрын
@@macmost Thank you for responding. Keyboard is the effect where the letters appear one by one, like typing. I'm actually looking for the effect where each individual letter is being drawn or written, as with a pencil, not just the whole letter appearing.
@macmost
@macmost Жыл бұрын
@@BrentSexton-uj1cj No, there's no good effect like that.

This was amazing. Thanks a lot. I had a question, How do you adjust the time between the build in and the build out of the text animation. Thanks
@macmost
@macmost 4 жыл бұрын
That's just the slide time. Click the background of the slide to make sure only the slide is selected. Then click Animate in the right sidebar. Then change from On Click to Automatic so the slide isn't simply waiting for you to click. Then set the delay time next to that.

Brilliant (as usual)! Is it possible to use these animation techniques with green screen then export them into a format usable in iMovie?
@macmost
@macmost 5 жыл бұрын
Yes. No need to use Green Screen though. You can export with a transparent background. One example is: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3nLc4xjjNmAfbs

I can't find the "random" option while trying to animate. Is it possible that it is no longer available or do I have to change a setting?

Hi Gary! I work as a reading teacher online and I'm trying to figure out how to do the following in keynote. To teach the difference between short and long vowels I want to show the word 'rid' on a slide and then have an 'e' appear to make the word 'ride.' On the next slide at first they just see 'bit' but then an e appears and they see 'bite.' Is there a way to do this?
@macmost
@macmost 3 жыл бұрын
Many ways. You can have the rid as one element and e as another. Then set up the slide so it builds by element. The rid appears first, then e. See kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5bGdH1jdrisgJI to see how builds works.

@@macmost I think I've figured it out... I didn't have any transitions set, so it requires a click to move on. It took me over 20 minutes, but I've finally figured out how to animate a series of title slides. I'm going to now try and put some music on it in iMovie. Thanks for your hard work on these videos, and I wasn't criticizing you... I'm just COMPLETELY ignorant to Mac right now...trying to learn MacOS and all it's programs all at once.

You'll have to find an Apple Motion or Adobe After Effects template for that. Or maybe have someone create it for you.

Oh, Gary my boy... I generally love all that you do but this is not one of them. Making an interesting Keynote/Powerpoint presentation has nothing to do with this. When an audience focuses on how "cool" or "cute" the presentation is they lose focus on what the subject material is all about. The most effective presentations I've observed, and there have been very many, were those with no fancy backgrounds or glitzy animation but instead, had the presenter put all of her effort into the content itself. Animation can be great for truly making a point. It can be used to show how things work with graphic animation for example. But how one puts text on a screen? Give me a break.
@macmost
@macmost 5 жыл бұрын
Maybe. But not all presentations are so serious. It isn't always a boardroom or TED situation. I see lots of presentations that use whimsy. People use Keynote for slideshows at family events, for example. Kids use them at school. Teachers use them at school too, which is a situation where you want to entertain as well as educate or you lose their attention. Sometimes Keynote is use to create videos and I see plenty of them on KZbin that try to be cute and cool. People are going to use text animations at times whether you like it or not, so at least with these techniques those animations don't all look the same as everyone else's.

macmostvideo hey, i love this particular one. Juz ignore that fella. If he didnt like it, he should just keep it to himself n not ranting about the importance of so-called perfect presentation. You are here to teach for those who wanna learn other things in keynote. Not learning on how to produce GREAT CONTENT of presentation. Maybe that fella can make one for that.

Robert your point hold s true for "serious" presentations, but Keynote is a great tool for more than just presentations. For example, I have been using it to create animations along the lines that Gary demonstrates to create animated content to insert into videos.
