Our group of 4 entered at Baker Lake and leisurely explored the area up to North Temperance Lake. We ate fish, saw wildlife and really enjoyed our time outside! About halfway through the trip, our bug nets came out due to black flies and mosquitoes.
We welcomed Bill for his 1st trip up north... hopefully not his last :-)
Join us as we re-live our 10-day trip in 18 minutes!

Another excellent presentation! My favorite photos were of the geese in the sunset, the moon, and the goose standing in the middle of the river! Looks like you had great weather but I do miss your photos of the storms. Thanks for showing the map with your campgrounds marked - helpful for my own planning. Looking forward to your next production! Safe travels.

Thanks for watching and the feedback! It was an odd year for weather... cold and no bugs the first half of the trip. Then heat and bugs for the second half. The only precip. we had in 10 days was a couple of tenths of an inch of rain one night. No thunderstorms!

Gary, how is it that you only have 687 subscribers? I can't think of anyone I follow that I anticipate more than your videos. Your videos are a few precious minutes of peace in a difficult world, and they bring me such happiness. I hope to make it up there when I retire. How old are you these days. What about creating a video based on you packing for the trip and any tips you have learned over the years. Go over all the gear you take and how you select the route. P.S. I saw a couple of the guys wearing high rubber boots. Is for portaging through swampy areas? Thanks Again!

Thanks for the awesome comment! I just got back from another trip... this time with my grandson. It was another great trip in spite of some rain and mosquitoes. I'm 68 so I'm not pushing it quite as hard as in the early years, but still getting out into the woods and loving it! The rubber boots we wear for spring and fall trips allow us to wade out into the water when loading and unloading at portages. Thanks for the suggestion, but I have no plans to do a "how to" video for planning Boundary Waters trips. There are many excellent KZbinrs out there who have that covered. I'll stick with my odd blend of fine art and trip reports, at least for now. What do you mean only 687 subscribers? I see I'm now up to 688 ;-)

Great photography, thank you. Our trip begins in late July, do you recommend leaving your vehicle at the entry point or having Sawbill Outfitters transport to and from?

Thanks Edward! We have always left our vehicles right at the entry point parking lot with no problems.

Yes, the mine is at the north end of the 65 rod portage... follow a path to the west about 100 feet.

BWCA has to be the most beautiful place on earth for about 3 months in the summer. I've been there twice. Heaven on earth except for the flies and mosquitoes. Fresh fish. What else do you want?
