I lost a lot of audio on the roof due to the college kids next door bumping music while playing beer die nearly naked - sounds made up, right? Go to 12:28 , lol.. Therefore not much was shown up top, it's just fascia and sheeting, luckily! What do you think of the QuikStik from Simpson? Would you use one? Can find more info here: www.strongtie.com/products/go/fasteners/quik-stik-rafter-fastening-system The Simpson Rep was great, dude had a killer sense of humor and insisted we record Q doing his 360's after driving a 6" screw in. The amount of time you save vs. H1's are insane! Best bet, our next build - we'll be using these! Let's hit 22,000 Subscribers today! B A N G O N !

Definitely going to use Simpson's quikstik system on my next house. Simpson sent me a plastic setting tool a couple of years back that still required a ladder to install the screw. Being able to work from the deck is safer and a tremendous time saver.

Just a thought from a old man but would it be easier to cut ur notches in ur gable rafter when it’s on the saw horses rather then up in the air like that. Plus cut all of ur look outs to length on the ground instead of doing all that in the air. Are roofs are normally like 8/12 10/12 and we frame a little differently here in Wisconsin and maybe you can’t even do that because you won’t be able to get it straight I’m just asking but I love your videos and your work ethic.

Dude Pops broke out the leather whipping belt to catch those rafter tails! That was epic and at least he didn't use it on you for leaving them so long....maybe it was his fault since he might have been the cut man that day. lol That quick drive truss screw is sweet. Perkins Brothers builders out of NC demonstrated it in their vid. Supposedly the inspector is supposed to see the orange screw head but I guess its on how far its driven in. I'm sure that will be a adjustment and something to watch for. They put the crotch of the tool at a angle on the top plate like Q did and drove the screw. No matter what that is way faster than H1's or any other sort of connector and positive placement gun.

What’s up Matt. And everyone else watching this video right now. Does anyone have any tips on overcoming fear of heights? Recently just got into construction work and we’ve been working on a project casita and balcony build. I can see that every framer just walks on the top plates and trusses like nothing. Holding either lumber or tools in their hand without hesitation or something to grab on for stability. I’m not able to learn and help my foreman when he has to get on the top and explain things that I don’t know. I’m either on an 8ft ladder on the second to the top step peaking over or standing on the roof when it’s been sheathed. So I’m wondering if you, Matt or anyone else in the comments, ever had this problem when they first started? I’ve always had a fear of heights and I even struggle working from a ladder. Ive only been on top for like 3 days now and it’s just a struggle for me. I’m on the ground hyping myself up, thinking it’s nothing, then once I get eye level to the roof, I blank out. I freeze for a quick second and I rethink if I should keep going up. Any tips would help. I even tried research but I want it from a construction worker pov. My foreman monkeys around when he’s standing on the trusses (with safety of course) only to scare me. I even get scared watching him standing on the edge to nail on the fascia. I get on the ladder to do that. Lol. Great video btw. I’m learning a lot at work as well as from you and other youtubers.
@wadebarret1005 жыл бұрын
xXPeRFecTz I started like that I was afraid of heights I couldn’t even walk on 2x6 plates, it takes time, now I walk on 2x4 plates like nothing, another coworker told me not to look out side while your walking, focus on the plates.

Just time and practice. Respect the height but dont fear it.

Question: When you bought it, did you stretch it out and leave it in the sun all day? Anytime you buy a hose they’re bundled up so tight, that they twist all day long.. You HAVE to unravel them, lay them out straight in a line, and let the sun hit them for the day.. Then when you roll them up, they’ll take better shape and not tangle.

Honestly I dont give a fuck about price. Osb is a much straighter product that dosen't warp. Osb should never hit water anyways unless it rains on the job. I've almost fell through plywood before. I've lost all faith in plywood and mainly build with osb as it feels way stronger

@@MattBangsWood I started wood working this past fall. I bought a ton of tools and spent a fair chunk of change. One day I decided to get drunk while in the shop, it was hot as hell and I felt the need to have 9 beer. Next day was rough. Woke up and went back into the shop. An hour later I was in the emergency room with a finger I turned into hamburger from the table saw. It happened so fast and quick I didn't even know it until something felt weird. Ever since then I have slowed down and stopped the 9 beer intake lol. I'm down to 2 beer only and that's after I unplug all power tools. Lesson learned!! 😊

I should add that I helped build two garages from concrete up with an index finger wrapped and covered for 2 months. The 8th week I took the wrap off and it grew back. It's seriously screwed though. No feeling and when it's cold outside that finger is ice cold instantly. It's also worth mentioning I can't pick my nose properly anymore because I have no feeling left. 😣
