Everyone! We all can’t believe it, high pressure has learnt to come to the UK! In all seriousness, I’m thankful we have an actual *area* of high pressure instead of a ridge that lasts 12 hours.

Classic pressure set up for late April to mid-May that the beloved Ian McKaskill used to adore because it often brings the best weather to the west of Scotland and the Highlands before the midge get going. As Aidan hints can last for weeks. The counterpoint is dry cold weather to the SE to dry out the clay.

As mentioned in the video, it’s getting drier for most of the UK compared with the exceptionally wet recent weather (although it won’t be completely dry, especially in the east). Whether or not it’s getting ‘better’ is much more subjective and depends on personal tastes / needs!

It can also bring persistent high pressure over the UK. I.e., for the UK, whether we get low or high pressure stuck over us all depends on the precise shape and orientation of the jet stream.

We tow with an EV, not going to be everyones cup of tea but the towing experience is super smooth and you have 100% of power from zero so you don't notice the caravan when pulling off. Charging when towing is a pain as it means unhooking as hardly any pull thru spaces, but with a bit of planning you can stop where its not a problem. Cost for electric is £5.40 for approx 120 miles (easy to achieve between charges with the caravan on the back) if charging ay home, or about £35 if charging anywhere sensible. Public charging is the same as buying petrol, plenty of expensive and cheap places, both need a bit of thought. Majority of miles are charging at home, without the van its about 280 miles for £5.40. Money no object I'd get a taycan shooting brake, will tow two tons and do another 50 or so miles on a charge. Currently we stop every two and a bit hours, would prefer if we could push that to three hours. Not the cheapest to buy currently but if you buying new or nearly new then they can make sense for some but not all

On your map there are places such as denmark, norway, holland, south ireland etc where sometimes you give information and yet sometimes you dont. Why not give the same info to places that are not England as you do to places that are England especially when you have access to and mention the European weather forecast (ecmwf), they are on your map so please dont leave them out.
@metoffice
@metoffice Ай бұрын
We’ll occasionally mention other countries if it’s interesting but we mainly just cover the UK because that’s the remit of the UK Met Office. Other countries in Europe have their own Met Services and more expertise about their own regions.
