What a great balanced presentation of dress shapes and styles. I particularly appreciate the inclusion of both Big 4 and Indie patterns. You really do your homework! Could you consider addressing the challenge of sewing for small small busted women? I have always struggled with bodice fitting and darts are my nemesis because they create so much unneeded space. Small bust adjustment just doesn't help and the solution is not to only sew knits. It would be wonderful if someone in the sewing community would give this issue some serious attention. I would love to find a well-designed dress with a dartless bodice.

Oh, my goodness. Your description of a house dress took me down memory lane. My grandmother wore a house dress that fit your description of a house dress to a T. Faux leather shirt dress? Yes!!!! Love that idea. Great video, Sharon.

Oh, how fun to go down memory lane together! Yes, my grandmother also. Gosh, I sure do miss her. You would look FABULOUS in a leather shirt dress! I see a #sewthelook video in your future 😀😍👗

It is hot and humid in ArkieLand in the summer and that it a good reason to wear a dress. Lots more air circulation going on down South. Love the patterns you showed. Thanks.

Wow! That was a lot of great information! Love how you showed different fabric choices and how adding trim can really make the look your own! I like the first dress! I think my family would flip if they saw me in a dress....since I usually wear shorts or a skirt! Lol!

I’m so glad that you found it inspirational! I think you should sew one just to watch your family flip out 😜🤣👗

Thanks for sharing that, we always can use more house dress ideas. I just made 2 butterick 6758, so comfy. My second one I hacked the bottom and just didn't put the button placket on the front. Just 2 backs on the fold, same design, worked great. Happy Sewing

IHi from England. I wear dresses most of the time, so much easier than separates! My favourite dress patters are Victory patterns Jackie dress and Nina Lee Southbank dress. Both stylish and so comfortable to wear. Thank you for doing these videos.

I love vintage dress patterns, like Very Easy Vogue 9242, McCalls 8766 (gotta love a 60s tent dress), or Simplicity 6936. All comfy but stylish!
@SharonSews4 жыл бұрын
Hi Cathy! I had to look those up, those are cute dress patterns ❤️. I especially love the vogue dress with the slightly cut in shoulder. I like tent dresses, however they don’t work very well with my body shape. But they sure are cute!

Thank you Cathy, that’s very helpful. I love this video, looking through pattern books nearly does my head in. I can never really find what I want. 🤷♀️ A house coat in Australia decades ago, used to be called a brunch coat. My mother wore them, very comfy. Thanks for these patterns 😉✅

There is a pattern from Sew So Easy - Racerback A line dress that looks like fun. I am going into the warmer months and some cooler loose dresses will be ideal. I made some warmer Love Notions Willow wrap dresses a few months ago and have been wearing those with tights and a cardigan. Working from home means there is no "air-conditioned" set temperature. I keep heating low so need to rug up :) Thanks for the inspiration.

Vicki Maiorano Thanks! I had to look up the Sew So Easy racerback - that is so cute! Yes working from home means we don’t get to enjoy those air-conditioned offices 🥶. Glad you found it inspiring!

I just don't see the appeal of the Wilder dress, it looks like a nightgown to me. I like the other dresses but I LOVE the Celeste dress. Great video and lots of inspiration.
@SharonSews4 жыл бұрын
I see your point Jennett, about the wilder gown, especially because they sewed the sample version on the model in white. I included it though because there are so many designer versions of that dress out right now! Fabric definitely makes a difference. And I love my CELESTE dress!
@jennetthamilton79424 жыл бұрын
I will admit I have seen some lovely Wilder dresses on Instagram. I guess it depends on the fabric and how it is styled. I actually found a sheet I want to make into the Celeste dress, it's white with pink flamingos all over it. I just thought it would be fun for next summer. I love your vlogs, you are just so passionate about sewing.

Hmmm house dress,perhaps a fine thing bit I like to get “Dressed” every day I love dresses but a dress over a flow pant moves me . Y know the “Tina Givins “ style check her out. For now many ladies have time to be glamorous ✌🏿👼🏿🙍🏽💕👜

I will definitely check out Tina Givens, I have heard of her designs but haven’t checked them out yet. They do sound intriguing to me. I got into a bit of a rut wearing tees and shorts, and I now want to be “dressed “ every day, even though I’m staying at home. 👗😀
