The square flap in front of the raincoat is supposed to go over the closure hiding it from the rain. If it is one the other side and doesn’t cover the closure then it is done mainly for design. The long draped scarf feature is for drama. I purchased this pattern and can’t wait to sew it up. I just need to find the best dramatic fabric for the look

A kissing front means the two seams kiss (they line up next to each other when joined) but do not overlap. You would be unable to wrap it around you in a snugly warm way.

So do the big 4 and Know Me copy the designers or vice versa or do you think it is just coincidental?
@SharonSews6 күн бұрын
Pattern companies have traditionally followed, runway fashions and designers, and then created patterns from some of those designs for the home sewer to sew. Vogue especially. I remember when I was writing an article for Sew News (years ago), they had industry access to upcoming trends and fashions long before the rest of us did- which makes sense, but it was an eye-opener for me. Regarding Know Me patterns, I suspect when they are creating their designs, they’re probably influenced from RTW they’re seeing on TikTok and Instagram, but that’s just my opinion 🤷🏻♀️

I most recently made the Vogue trench, the piece hanging is just to hang there, one could add a broach or even make it a different color and to help it stand out

The storm flap on a trenchcoat is indeed used to close the coat snuggly against rain, wind, etc. Also useful to hide vents preventing buildup of moisture and odor inside the coat.

Thanks for finding coats we can make that are so close to expensive designs. I really don't understand coats that don't have any closures. If it's cold enough to wear a fake fur coat, it definitely needs to have some kind of front closures.
@SharonSews12 күн бұрын
You’re welcome! I agree, if it’s cold enough to wear faux fur most of us want to have a closure.

Sharon, you are so good at putting these videos together! I love seeing the designer looks, even if I don’t have the lifestyle for them, now. I always hope there are trendy young women out there making those fabulous patterns up. I think the trench with the drape is stunning; however, imagining it in real life on a windy day in Oklahoma makes me chuckle. I think it’s just decorative, but I guess it would add warmth. Thanks for the video! 😊-Deborah

I love these videos. I like to make my very stylish daughter the runway looks at thousands less. Also, you are correct on kissing fronts. There is no closure and they just come together with a kiss.

Although I wouldn't make any of the patterns, I really enjoy your YT series for clothing that can be made from patterns based on what's "trending" at the moment. What is really stunning is the price of some of these designer clothes. Seriously?!?!? If I had that kind of money to be able to afford trendy designer clothes (worn for no more than a few times during one season), I couldn't bring myself to spend my money in that way. Would rather be an investor/philanthropist and use my assets where it is desperately needed - to help provide for people who are struggling. That would bring me joy, not some article of clothing.

Wow, the tops are beautiful. Yes a little low for me but luckily I am a sewist and I can fix that😅😅😅... And if I can't figure out how to do it I know how to reach out here on KZbin to figure out how to do it. The top you're wearing It's beautiful. I love the butterfly necklace too.

Thank you! The necklace is a Betsy Johnson that my son gifted to me on my birthday Yea they’re low but it’s pretty easy to raise the neckline. Just remember to do the facing also. Style Arc has a short video on raising a v-neck on their KZbin channel kzbin.infoKK3pqRSbLyI?si=9mtNYbR1IYjmMPn2
