How about a sweatshirt dress for the plaid knit? For example Style Arc Anderson, or even the Love Notions Aurora.

Sharon, if you have fabric leftover, you could make hats to match your coats. That would be elegant.

On pale pink rectangular fabric, can you use both sides? When I’ve lost creative mojo, well, I go shop around and try to get inspired😁 Im about to lose one of my fav fabric stores that’s easy to drive to and I’ve been going there for over 20 years! The owner is retiring🥲 I’ve heard you rave about SRHarris for years and this fabric haul makes me want to field-trip there with sewing friends!!!!

I, like you, love unusual textured fabric and that grey ribbon fabric is gorgeous. Hard to decide and a shift dress as said previously would work but I would consider a bomber jacket - I like mixing unusual combinations of practical and fancy in garment and fabric but that’s not everyone’s taste. Worth considering though as it may get more wear than a dress. I’m thinking of trying this combination in this beautiful organza I was given, it’s not totally opaque so would need lining but I never know how to use organza (& not my favourite to sew!) as my lifestyle doesn’t warrant the usual type 15:24 of garment and it’s so ‘bouncy’ so I don’t know if it would work as a bomber jacket, what do you think. Loved seeing your fabrics and glad just being in the midst of fabrics has brought your spark back. It’s been a tough time. Your family memories of Sesame Street has resonated too, my adult children still talk about their own favourite - it’s another family memory to cherish.

All those fabrics are so beautiful, but I really enamored with the black velvet circle one; it’s so unique! I think a simple long duster will really showcase that fabric and it will be a piece that will “kick up a notch “ any outfit you throw it over.😊

Hi Sharon! Happy to see you again here and excited to sew up your new fabrics. when I saw your pink and gray plaid fabric at the end of your video, I immediately thought of the new McCall's 8529! It's a Chanel like dress and I think it would work well with that fabric. Very Classic and Chic with Audrey Hepbern vibes. As for the textured silver grey rose like fabric, how about making a simple topper that could pair with that plaid rose fabric? A simple topper/cardigan to wear with that dress or any other outfit you like. You can get some great mileage with that piece. Thanks as always for the inspiration 🥰🥰🥰 Happy Sewing!

Hi Sharon the fabrics are absolutely gorgeous. I love the velvet prints.

The gray ribbon fabric would make a great bolero jacket. The pink plaid could be a holiday skirt that you wear with a silver or white top and silver pumps.

I agree that the ribbon fabric will look wonderful as a short over layer, specifically as Cashmerette Club Catskills jacket or Carol shrug.

The tunic, Vogue 9330, I saw a RTW version with 3 pockets, then an indie company released a version with3 pockets, so that’s what I’m doing this fall, among all the other things. For the pink plaid. Or anything that strikes your fancy, I’m no help, I see. 😂
@SharonSews18 күн бұрын
😂😂😂 Oooo! That sounds interesting, do you remember which Indy pattern company it was? I’m having a hard time envisioning where the three pockets are located.

The square flap in front of the raincoat is supposed to go over the closure hiding it from the rain. If it is one the other side and doesn’t cover the closure then it is done mainly for design. The long draped scarf feature is for drama. I purchased this pattern and can’t wait to sew it up. I just need to find the best dramatic fabric for the look
@SharonSews18 күн бұрын
I had no idea! Thanks for the explanation. I can’t wait to hear what you think of the pattern once you sew it!

A kissing front means the two seams kiss (they line up next to each other when joined) but do not overlap. You would be unable to wrap it around you in a snugly warm way.

So do the big 4 and Know Me copy the designers or vice versa or do you think it is just coincidental?
@SharonSewsАй бұрын
Pattern companies have traditionally followed, runway fashions and designers, and then created patterns from some of those designs for the home sewer to sew. Vogue especially. I remember when I was writing an article for Sew News (years ago), they had industry access to upcoming trends and fashions long before the rest of us did- which makes sense, but it was an eye-opener for me. Regarding Know Me patterns, I suspect when they are creating their designs, they’re probably influenced from RTW they’re seeing on TikTok and Instagram, but that’s just my opinion 🤷🏻♀️

The storm flap on a trenchcoat is indeed used to close the coat snuggly against rain, wind, etc. Also useful to hide vents preventing buildup of moisture and odor inside the coat.
