Great suggestions. A couple of years ago I added new insulation in the attic and while up there used fire proof expanding foam around the chimney. Also adding a smart thermostat helped.

Could you please do videos on how you heat your workshop / shed? Thanks.

I have already done a video regarding my workshop insulation and keeping warm in it. You can find the video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpLUmqiiidKHpsk

Hi I like you educating us. I had a thought if you up the foil first which, would try to reflect the heat back down. Then put the insulation on top. Thank you. Well done I am Keith.

After you've poured out the kettle, put some more water in it as the element is still red hot and will take the chill out for the next time you want a brew.

I do this too

I always do this. I leave it for couple mins then pour it into a flask. Leaving it in kettle is pointless unless using within short time.

@@PhillWyattProjects Hand on heart the truth .Burst in to tears and realised had to clear the mess up / board the window / and give up baking .My cookery is excellent but I recognise my limits .Made a great job of fixing the window .The dog had no skills in that direction ..Once in Berlin teaching I quit all DIY and carried on with a no baking policy .

Sounds very bizarre but use clear shower curtains under sheer curtains on windows. It stops so much heat and cold from going out and in!!

Curtains, they don't save you money if they are left open. My wife constantly opens them in the morning to let in light and I have to keep closing them.

I see what you mean especially on dull cold days although there is the odd sunny mild day in winter too.
