I think these tips are invaluable. I only get 20 to 30 people watching my streams but I truly appreciate those people tuning in to watch me and I always acknowledge everyone on the stream. You're right, I don't worry about the numbers because they have gradually be going up. Thanks for the encouragement 🙏

Great video. This is everything I have been thinking. I’m about to get started streaming and I’ve had DJs I know telling me “What all I need”. I’m like bro…”why do I need all of that?? I’ll just use my iPhone and GO!” Seeing your video confirmed exactly what I was saying. Time to get started! Thanks!!

Dope advice as always. Another thing I think is worth mentioning, don't go crazy on the visuals/animations. No matter how good it looks in your view in OBS, Twitch and streaming in general will compress the video a LOT and make it look a mess. Keep the style clean and simple for the most visual impact.

Respect... the most humble and straight forward advice I have ever watched in years. Thank you for the great content
@mocairo80843 жыл бұрын
even though I consider myself good techie person I have been struggling doing proper live stream on IG as this is where most of my fanbase, and your calm and straight forward way helped me a lot, I hope this streaming hype won't last for long and all DJ's artists, Musicians return back to where they belong "Festivals, Clubs, Events, Concerts, Theaters etc...." and let us do what we do best "Creating & Performing Music" instead of juggling 8 balls in the air : D
@ClevelandTerry3 жыл бұрын
I think there will be both and you’ll get to choose which one works best for for you. Streaming is not for everyone just like club DJing is not for everyone.

Yes!!! Cleveland Terry nailed this one. I would like to add another one. Just have fun. It is not about money or having a fan base. Those things will come in time. I enjoy playing and learning more on the live stream. I also check out another DJ live stream (like CT). Since I am under 2 Radio stations umbrella, I have more freedom to promote and play on my 2 shows (working on 3). Also, promote your shows so people know where to find you. For example, I and my DJ partner are part of a family reunion at one of our radio shows next week. It's going to be a weekend event and I've been promoting it mostly on FB.

I bypassed the need for an audio card by rigging up Voicemeter Banana using a 'virtual line' and selecting an audio setting in Serato that allows the audio to pass through to the stream.

A great vid! I think so many people get caught up in the barrier of entry! Been a longtime music fan, and was gifted a controller. A friend literally said "I think you'd be amazing at this, here's my old rig". Am I a great DJ? no. Am I pretty to look at on camera? Also no.. Buy I have fun and even in a short time I have a bunch of friends that look forward to it. I hope your video inspires lots of people to give it a try.

Hi! Great video thank you so much for the insight! I do have a question: I'm currently djing as a hobby and have dj'd at a couple of small friend/family functions. I'm using soundcloud through Serato rn and don't currently have the funds to get into record pool subscriptions or purchasing all of my tracks. I want to start streaming on twitch. Is it ok to use soundcloud feature on serato to dj on twitch? I'm not fully educated on all of the legalities. Thank you in advance! :)

like i said i have my ipad on showing my stream and sometimes my partner will watch the stream via her under table computer and projector which is how i found out about the time difference between my performance and what everyone sees .This matters because at first i used to finish my show then look at it after and the end would be chopped off and thats because of the delay between what i am doing and what gets shown so now i monitor my ipad to be sure i am finished there before i sign off.
@Gelenkbusfahrer3 жыл бұрын
some very good advice but I think No.5 IMO is not true. Most people dont give a shit in clubs about what the DJ is actually doing and its the same on Twitch. Playing good sets, being open, talking with people or doing silly stuff to entertain them is way more important. And this is why beat sync is your best friend on Twitch.

Would you still recommend DJing on Twitch since they've started cracking down with DMCAs? My channel is only tiny and I only stream to share my passion & since it feels more like a real liveset, not really for the possible fame, but even so I don't see the point if my channel could be taken down..
@ClevelandTerry3 жыл бұрын
They actually haven’t really been taking people down. They are working with the labels to make it legitimate. It’s just going to take time. It’s not just DJs that are the issue. Gamers use commercial music all the time.

@@ClevelandTerry and I was wondering why so many DJs were at it… all these months I was thinking it does cut the stream… in fact it only get at the video once it’s finished and processed… very interesting. The audio is good i am using cdjs with time coded cds and that works great .I want to get some Rane 12s mk2s at some point or failing that the Denon 6000ms look good .These would remove the need for time coded vinyl or cds which in the long run i think would be better.

I get them all except the numbers section. Remember, that if you have 25-50 viewers consistently viewing your stream there are over 6 Billion people on the planet so the odds that all of them will be in your city let alone State are rather thin. This is why having 2 friends you have coffee with tell another 2 friends they have espresso with tell 2 friends and so on is so important. If you can get all of those friends in the club for coffee and an espresso you are golden.
