I finally found you. Wow, for years i have made and dehydrated my backcountry meals, some were good, most were not, then i run across your vlog; simplicity is a beautiful thing. I will be taking many of these along as i set out on the Sheltowee trace this fall all the while dreaming of the AT thru hike. Thank you so very much, this is a game changer.

Since u like to make meals, try these. Crunch up Ramen into small pieces, + 1/2 packet Pioneer Country Gravy + 1 cup boiling water. Taste like biscuits & gravy. U can add bacon pieces. I save the Ramen seasoning packet (chili flavor) to season a steak I cook over a fire. My favorite meal is 1/2 cup Minute Rice + 1/2 cup Dehydrated Refried Beans + 1/2 TBSP Tomato Bullion + 1/2 TBSP Taco Seasoning + 1 cup boiling water. Then add some Cheese & Fritos. For breakfast, put 1 cup Raisin Bran in a baggie with 1/3 cup NIDO. Add water to cover, shake, and instant milk & cereal. For a dessert treat, put a packet of Jello "No Sugar" pudding mix in a baggie with 1/3 cup NIDO. Add 10oz cold water and stir a couple minutes making sure no lumps. Pudding sets up in 10 minutes. For Fat Bomb, prepare b4 trip, put 1/3 Coconut Oil + 2/3 Peanut Butter in a microwave bowl, heat and mix thoroughly, then pour into jar. Takes a couple hours to set up. Then spoon onto tortillas or eat out of the jar.

These recipes all sound good and at some point I will actually watch the video to find out how you make them. May I suggest that you talk us through them, when you do recipe videos? I usually have youtube videos on while cooking or doing other things, and I'll glance over now and then, but mostly listen. So I will have to actually watch to "get it". That said, I always enjoy your videos. Keep 'em coming! Thank you!

Great backpacking recipes. A homemade Reflectix pot cozy would help a lot with adding boiling water to rehydrate pasta or dried au gratin potatoes. It also helps to boil the water in the pot with the ingredients, until all the ingredients and the pot are hot, using the pot cozy to keep it all hot, and eating out of the pot so there is still only one pot to clean.

Based on the order a lot of those are added, like dried onions and broccoli for example, looks like it would be crunchy and improperly hydrated

Nope the broccoli hydrates quickly and the dried onions are meant to be crunchy

I like the look of all those meals, if I’m honest. Any adjustments would be subjective. Yellow cheese that Americans eat, just isn’t for me, I can’t do that! Pork too, for some reason is a meat I avoid. What did excite me was the sachets of chicken! They are so versatile, with rice or pasta and flat breads etc. Some good tips in this vid, thank you.

Weird question but ive got to ask lol I live relatively close to Linville Gorge and love that place. Ive taken my wife there for some day hikes and showed her one of your videos from there. She said she thought she recognized you from coming to Stormcrow comics in high point/ Archdale NC area where she worked before. Could that have been you?

@meghoughton562 Жыл бұрын
IKR? You would think so. What I would do is to bring a small cold pouch (such as are used for baby bottles) and a freezer pack or frozen water bottle. It would only stay cold for about a day or so, but you could use those on the first couple days and probably be okay...🤷♀️
