@@biglogie680 Lol yep I'm a little bit like that now. Last raid i did with my brother we wiped a base clean. Killed all their dinos, Gigas, you name it, took all their cryos and not one tear was shed. My bro an I trained a fair bit in 1v1 against each other to learn pvp and get used to it before going in. Not great but getting better all because of my first day on pvp lol.

These are some good tips especially for smalls / unofficial. I do think it's worth noting, though, that if you want to stay hidden in general, your best option is *not to build a base at all* , and instead just to hide underwater or in a sky base. I definitely appreciate seeing the render distance mentioned and paint is definitely overlooked. I've passed over a few bases because they were painted and that's definitely an underrated strategy. As an old legacy player myself, I respect you for actually making some pretty valid tips, unfortunately the game has changed a lot since then (mostly for the worst). It's worth noting now that the majority of serious PVPers will be running .ini modifications which remove shadows so things like dark paint can actually make a base stand out more. Building in a small closed off area is not as good because the lighting and shadows won't be visible for some people. They also won't be able to see light from the refining forges. I think the best tip by far is to avoid building turrets, as if you are not online to defend, then your turrets serve no purpose. Lastly, I think you should mention that most people aren't scouting for little shit bases, and if your base is getting found it's likely by accident. To avoid that, the best way to actually keep a land base hidden is to make sure it's far away from every possible spawn on a map, because that is typically where most people are PVPing and where someone is most likely to stumble upon your base. Overall, really like this video, compared to most other tips videos which come from retarded PVE players who just think if you hide in a cave your base is safe; it's pretty damn good for a returning veteran.

Thank you for the awesome feedback I really appreciate those tips, I've been gradually learning some of these things lately, and learned a couple from you just then! Only heard about people using ini's a couple months ago, and all the crazy stuff in the game was a bit overwhelming at first after not playing since aberrations release, but gradually learning the new techniques and new methods has been a learning experience to say the least! I'm surprised how well this video has done, so I'll probably make an updated one soon as I wasn't aware of ini and some of these other things when making this vid, as you can tell, mainly old school methods haha xD Thanks again buddy!

The .ini trick, how is that different from turning off shadows in game ?

@@techdiyer5290 Because, for example, the dark cave on Ragnarok is pitch black regardless of settings. If you disable it in the ini though it becomes perfectly clear. It basically turns off lightning effects, everything equally well lit.

@@moonshadow1795 well i don’t usually run at something that’s shooting me and if the base uses the other tips of having trees and rocks to conceal it, you shouldn’t be able to see it unless you keep on going towards it which would deal a lot of damage or kill you

@@aliataya1089 Yes, but while it may kill them once and surprise them, all it's doing is giving away your position and erking them. You may get the drop on them once, but the next time they will know exactly where you are and can come with tames to tank the turrets

@@moonshadow1795 yea but if your base is located somewhere kind of high on a cliff and concealed by trees not only would it be hard to find, it would also be hard to tank because if they have a quetzal it would be good to carry tanks but if you have plant species x and a ammo box it would be extremely hard to raid especially if you have tames guarding your base and turrets inside your house

I've also had good luck with making my base look like some wooden/thatch bob-build that already got raided on the outside and having a little metal 2x2 on the inside. People flying by see a low level build that already got raided and keep going.

Great tips! What also helps is building where no one favors like the swamp, for example. I had a mother base in the swamp and no matter how many times I was attacked anywhere else THAT base no one could find simply because it was some place no one liked.

I can confirm that this is really good advice! I also played around with the challenge of building small and hidden on official servers and found many of the strategies, that you described here, tried and true, as I came to the same conclusions (especially foregoing turrets and killing yourself off, having all your tames in cryo, when logging out). Cryopods are your best friends! I found success in doing that on Ragnarok and on the Island. In my opinion, your best line of defense, when building hidden, are allocation, minimalism and building in ways that cannot be spotted from above and are as far removed from the typical traffic areas as possible. Ever since the introduction of cryopods, one of the biggest necessities for a base (dino storage) is obsolete anyway. Imo you should only ever build little 1x1 or 1x2 bases and they should only ever serve as crafting stations. Storage can easily be hidden under water, especially in murky inland streams or in underwater foliage and trenches. I never once had one of my underwater stashes found and eventually I technically played without any structure, that would even qualify as a "base". I also would move more and more under water, as there is much less traffic and attention. In addition to that, I almost never used Flyers. Because flying around is a great way to be spotted. Get yourself a Baryonyx instead. The ultimate guerrilla dinosaur, since it is easily the best “amphibian” type of dino in the game, if being fast on land and underwater is your top priority!

Very useful indeed. Is there anything we can do about the snap points? Or building blocks barely touching a rock wall and the game tells us we can't build there? What about placing flooring over some rocks and it still says it's not on a foundation? All of this can easily be solved in single player. But when I'm in my pvp server I have to do things by the text book.. 🙃

@@aliataya1089 Anyone who's scouting bases is going to have the gear to destroy your base whether your dinos are outside on neutral or in a cryo fridge. You're better off putting them in cryos and uploading/killing your character so anyone scouting with a parasaur won't detect you. Turrets don't even protect you when you're offline, a couple of neutral dinos isn't going to stop anything and only draw attention to where you live

Are you sure its deleting your characters? Sometimes it will lag and your characters wont show in upload i just keep trying the upload till my tames or characters load in. Other than that the only thing I can think of is your internet is going out in the middle of the transfer so it never actually uploads. You probably need to get better internet or the next gen?

The truth is...there are no safe spots at all...ratholes are all exposed in videos and the same with caves and hidden spots...and your turrets do not matter, even if you have 1000 of them full of ammo...hackers will always come along and boot you from the server and or mesh your base. A hacker wrecked my base without my turrets firing a single shot. Another hacker was somehow killing me through the cave roof. And another hacker had kill commands and killed me and any tames I had in a snap of a finger. They also have esp which shows them exactly where you are and what you have in your inventory. The devs refuse to do anything about it as well. No matter how good you are, a hacker will wreck you...I've seen whole servers wiped, including powerful alphas, by one single hacker.
