I'm Australian. The Tasmanian tiger should be brought back if possible. Tasmania's ecosystem is still fully capable of handling its reintroduction, it hasn't been gone nearly long enough for the ecosystem to have changed significantly, there's still scientists who aren't even 100% certain it's actually extinct yet because Tasmania has alot of dense forests, it should still be here if we didn't hunt it for fur, and the Australian government would make sure they don't go extinct again

I heard that since they were killed off, the other animals don't really have natural predators. Cause population explosion and disease to run amok, like with deer in the states being culled by predators to stop both from being a problem.

There are literally so many big cats who "they" claim there is no room for, so hunters are releasing them into reserve parks and using them for game, which is disgusting, sick and brutal. Animals are territorial, even social pack types, unlike the tiger. What will happen when these extinct breeds- hunters/killers want large swathes of land to themselves or their prides and kill other males or females and cause displacement among their kind? Chaos happens. They will be tormented hunted down and killed for game by the rich or elites. Let them stay asleep until God puts us and them in a world where there is harmony and peace. This ain't it!

@@gooberfries6692 Tasmania is mostly wild forest and Tasmanian tigers are the size of a medium dog, they aren't a threat to humans and as I said the Australian government will make sure they don't go extinct again by imposing fines and jail time for hunting them, it also not good for the ecosystem for them to be missing

@@AccaliaShakariaN7 The biggest problem with adding a "new" apex predator is the possibility of over hunting as man is guilty of. I look at the effects of the Burmese python on the wildlife in the state of Florida where they kill or out hunt alligators putting further pressure on an already endangered species. We should remember that humans are not the only cause of extinction events as what we have been seeing has been happening naturally since the beginning of life on this planet.

It is more likely the saber toothed tigers would be released in Siberia or Northern Russia where there are only bears and wolves to compete with. They may need a bigger predator in that region since they are probably also going to release the mammoths and woolly rhinos there.

One overwhelming thing to point out when talking humans causing these extinctions is what we have learned. Here in the US we have taken animals and birds that were close to extinction and revived them in preserves and listening them on endangered spices lists. In the US we are very good at protecting these creatures and I feel with proper wildlife management they can thrive uf they are returned.

Many of the species fulfilled needed roles in the balance of life in the wild. We can only guess at some of them, but I have heard some speculation about some of them. The predators should be obvious as they reduce the over population of deer, rodents, etc. The mammoths and rhinos may serve to reduce global warming. In the northern Russia and Siberia areas (where they once lived) the permafrost has been melting (causing damage to structures and roads constructed on it) from the increasing temperature. Where there were once ice and snow fields now there are plants. Ice and snow are white and reflect the sun light so less heat is absorbed. Plants absorb more heat. Mammoths and rhinos could easily live in the area and would consume the plants which would contribute to a cooler environment. The success of bringing these animals back will advance our scientific understanding in this area and that could lead to some amazing future discoveries. I'm 100% for it and looking forward to the future. Thanks for the video!

Cay meat. Interesting mention. One of the most unique things I've ever eaten is a lion steak. I was not looking for this, by the way. I was at a restaurant in Qutar while awaiting a flight in 2007. Not knowing the language, the waiter with limited English said, "the special", I assume because of the cost. Turns out there are a few select lion farms with strict rules and regulations about how many lions can be bred for food, etcetera. Now, as for cat meat being foul tasting, to my understanding, this is primarily for smaller cats, not so much so with wild large felines, i.e., tiger, lion, panther/cougar. If they are eating well. Most feral 'house cat' felines are scavengers or eat caught animals that are also scavengers. Having been ranked before and given coyote jerky, I assume cat or the meat of any animal whose main diet is the scavenged meat and marrow left by other predators. One of the reasons large cats do not have the taste of death is because they tend to eat fresh kills. I believe that it is likely any animal whose diet is unfresh carcass meat and refuse, is likely going to taste similar to coyote jerky. If you have smelled decaying flesh like from a mousetrap or other passed on animal, that is the taste.

Even though we have millions of acres of mostly uninhabited artic tundra that could benefit from these animals the wooly rhinoceros and mammoth wouldn't stand a chance with China's insatiable desires. The dodo's predators have also not gone away. The Tasmanian tiger has both the territory and protection to be returned. The Carolina parakeet should also have a shot. Wearing a dead parrot is no longer acceptable and it's range is currently swarmed with invasive starlings anyway.

Between that and the now accelerated decomposing of samples, these scientists better hurry it up if they want to bring back a genetically diverse herd of mammoth and whatever else is under there.

It would be cruel to bring back probably most extinct animals. For one, as soon as that happens, the animal is automatically in "endangered" status based on population. For two, most extinct animals went extinct because they couldnt compete with other animals that still exist today, and would likely continue to outcompete them. Third, their food resources would also probably have to be made extant again. Fourth, would they unintentionally bring back extinct diseases? Fifth, if they do well, would they cause the extinction of another species that exists rightfully? Dodo's should be fine though. They werent eaten, they were hunted for sport by colonists. The meat wasn't that good from what I've read.

Do you think to reintroduce a extinct animal would have positive results? How about doing such with humans? Why is that different? Honestly if they brought back any of these I don’t think the threat of them going extinct again is as big a concern. They probably would, at least at the beginning, be heavily protected and monitored as any species that is reintroduced into the wild is. The Mammoth would probably be the one that has the most practical reason for being brought back. The permafrost in Siberia (and other areas) is gradually melting and threatening to release billions of tons of carbon into the atmosphere. Trampling of these lands by Mammoth herds would actually prevent the permafrost from melting or at the very least slow the process down greatly.

So exactly where do they think these animals will go? The world's changed a lot since they went extinct! And like MrLboyd said, people will most likely just hunt them into re-extinction. Plus some of them might just make animals that are around now go extinct! Whether they're top predators, like the Thylacine, Sabretooth Cat, etc. or they make it so there's a lot less vegetation, like the Woolly Mammoth, Irish Elk, Woolly Rhino, etc. I mean have people stopped to think about how much food and water these animals would need to survive?
