I really liked the Anne of Cleve's recreation. I always felt she got a raw deal, starting with the portrait that Henry saw before he met her. I think she was the most interesting and clever of all his wives, considering she was able to keep her head (literally) and befriend Henry to the point where he called her "sister", and gave her a house and money. Henry could be very unpredictable and downright vicious. Anne of Cleves is my favorite of the 6 wives.

My favorite-Anne Boleyn. Your re-creation emphasizes her beautiful dark eyes, a feature she was especially known for. It’s no surprise she was admired throughout her life and obsessively desired by Henry. Bringing her to life as you have shows a beautiful and clever woman who knew how to make the most of what she was born with. It’s sad to think of her end, but we must remember she gave birth to one of England’s greatest rulers. In that, she left a great legacy.

The beauty and tragic figure Marie Antoinette, she has been so horribly vilified by the French for actions she never took, and falsely accused of deeds she never committed. I think she was treated unfairly. She wasn't expected to marry as well as her sisters since she was youngest and so didn't receive as a good of an education as her sisters. Was only considered because her older sisters were pox marked or dead. Was married at 14, queen at 19, with no real instructions on how to run the country. Was blamed for the poor financial decisions of her husband and his advisors.

Anne of Cleves is absolutely stunning. Nothing I will say regarding her intelligence have not been repeated by other comments already, so I will only comment on the more superficial aspect of her - she is absolutely beautiful. Her face is the embodiment of tranquility, it just has that amazing quality that captivates you and invites you to want to know more about what she is thinking.

Yes! I could see why she was regarded as "ugly", but to me she seems so pretty! I also think her hair is hot. I guess nowadays we tend to more overcome details and look at the overall beauty of the face and also the spirit in the eyes. Back then, they might have regarded more things as "ugly".

Ann Boleyn is my favorite and most interesting queen in my opinion. Unfortunately, she was too ahead of her time back in those days. I really enjoyed watching her portrait come to life. I believe that she tried so hard in her marriage, but was too hot blooded. I’m that way and a lot of men can’t handle it. For her to lose her husband, title, reputation, child and other unborn babies, plus her life in just a short span of only 3 years, it just breaks my heart.

The problem with the recreation of Anne of Cleves is that we are basing it off of Holbein’s portrait of her, which apparently was embellished to make her look prettier than she was. Holbein was specifically hired to paint portraits of the king’s prospective wives and send them back to England so that Henry could choose the prettiest one. When Henry saw what she really looked like he said she was “repulsive.” Henry felt he had been deceived. Instead of blaming the artist though, Henry blamed the one who had hired Holbein, Thomas Cromwell. He accused him of treason and had him beheaded. So we will never know if this is what Anne of Cleves truly looked like.
@kathleenstoin671
@kathleenstoin671 9 ай бұрын
I don't agree. Holbein would have been crazy to paint an unrealistic portrait of a person Henry would have seen eventually. Henry's negative reaction to Anne was based in part on her failure to recognize him as the king when he surprised her with an unscheduled visit en route to the prearranged meeting place. There is also the very real phenomenon of "chemistry," the presence of physical attraction to another person, or the glaring lack of it. Anne also spoke very little English, so communication would have been frustrating. Perhaps she lacked charm, that elusive quality some people have, or she had a subdued personality. Henry liked to pick his own women, and he liked them to be vivacious. And Anne was just a political match. So, no, I don't think Anne was less good looking than that portrait. There are other reasons for his petulant rejection of her. Later, after the divorce, Anne was close to Henry's family and appeared at court often, so she couldn't have been too repulsive! And other people didn't describe her as lacking in good looks.

The recreation animation you do with these ‘people’ is phenomenal. I keep wanting the animation to continue. It’s almost as if I could speak to them. To bad you couldn’t write an AI program for that: take a close stab at their voice, manner of speech, have them speak in their native tongue(with subtitles at the bottom), in the ‘language’ of their time, have enough information about them and their time that someone could actually have a conversation with them. I know it would be a HUGH program. But I think it would be worth it! ❤️

Wow! I loved the one of Mataoka! I’ve seen that portrait many times in my history courses and tried so hard to imagine what she would’ve looked like in real life. It’s said that the painting was considered by people of her time to make her look too masculine but it’s also considered the most accurate one because she was the one to choose how the drawing was done.

My favorites were Alexander the Great and Pocahontas because you had very limited images, and possibly biased descriptions, to work from. Also liked Hadrian, but since the Romans went more for realism in their statuary portraits, while the Greeks pretty much kept to idealized imagery, it was probably a lot easier to create an accurate representation of that Roman emperor.

Your contributions to the expansion of our minds via being able to practically see the people of history can never be valued enough. Thank you so much for all your hard work and for bringing these people virtually to life. My only helpful comment hopefully, is that the text to the left of the pictures is so tiny it’s hard for me to see. Could you possibly make it bigger? I know the small text is fashionable but since most of the population is a bit older perhaps you could take that into account. It’s more important that we can read your comments than being “cool”.

I subscribed to your channel this morning and every video I've seen leaves me in tears. I feel you put it into perspective that these were actual humans. With great minds. And that just warms my heart. I love what you are doing. And all of them are my favorite but Marie Antoinette was exceptionally beautiful as well as Anne 2nd wife of Henry and the " ugly wife" is my all time favorite because she is so simply beautiful. Abraham Lincoln broke my heart immediately all he wanted was equality for American people and was murdered. Nonetheless I love what you are doing. I can't wait to binge watch later tonight. ❤❤❤❤ Keep up the great work.

Hello I am from India and I have been watching all your recreation videos in a frenzy continously for the last two days. I am simply floored. I am a history buff, love english medieval history. I really request you to do some recreations of Indian great kings and queens from our history. It would be so wonderful.

Abraham Lincoln. My husband was a Civil War Reenactor so this brought President Lincoln right into the 21st century. WOW.
