The Larp group I go to which is called Scy’Kadia allows jabs and stabs. I’m honestly not sure why this one doesn’t allow stabs. They are foam weapons. I know from experience that stabs with foam weapons don’t cause injuries. It seems to me that the only attack you’re allowed to do in this thing is slashes. That doesn’t give you too many options on what you can do in combat. Stabbing with foam weapons really doesn’t do that much harm. They should probably change that. I mean stabbing is a big part of swordsmanship.

Thats germany for you. Always a bit extra strict. I heard england is bit more relaxed in this aspects.
@sirknight82674 жыл бұрын
@Davie Shaw yes all weapons are foam. The metal clanking is all metal armour.
@zhufortheimpaler4041 Жыл бұрын
because the fiberclass core rod can break or pierce the foam and inflict injuries when stabbing. Stabbing even with flexible fencing feathers is risky and should only be done when you are experienced and the other side wears protective gear. the core rods are not flexible enough to bend out of the way when stabbing, so during battle, the opponent might run up your weapon when you stab and impale himself. also its a serious risk to your eyes and throat areas
@BeylaKaythin2 ай бұрын
Bruh what!? You need special stab-safe weapons to stab with, cause with normal ones, the core can dislodge and come out and actually do damage. At least that's what I've been told all my life. In the Netherlands stabbing is also not allowed, except with weapons designed for it. Some larps dont even allow that, but I think THAT is a bit lame. Altho a lot of players who use the spears dont play very fun with them and just jab jab jab from behind their shield :')

You didn't mentoin the Oily Plaque and the Void when mentoining the counterparts. I know they were mostly defeated and there are only small numbers remaining but I think it now sounds weird that there are five elements but only three counterparts and although those two other ones are not that big of a threat anymore, they add so much to the lore of mythodea. And, well, they are still out there, so it might not hurt to know when you have to cover your face or call for a magician. Happy to be back in Mythodea this year after that annoying two years long global plague-plot... (If everything goes as planned.)

Many Germans speak English, that shouldn't be a problem. You might even pick up a little German while you're there. I wouldn't worry too much.

Most germans now basic english. And they adjust more extra for international visitors. Since this year they offer a shuttle service from the two big airports frankfurt and hannover and a "hotel" service which means you can sleep in an authentic cotton tent. I think it only could be a little bit less fun when you do not know german and english. But even if you couldn't understand anything and having no friend with you it is so worth seeing it once in your live. It is like a holiday in a fantasy land. It has the size of a whole city an the whole setting is gorgeous. The effort people put in costume, play and everthing is so intense. And compared to the big festivals like burning man the crowd is so much friendler and more safe.

Also I am black, I have found a lot of fantasy fans to be quite racist to be honest, their imagined fantasy worlds often don't include black folks. So yeah again I will pass. "Average Fantasy" larps are easiest to find but there are also Postapo Larps, Warhammer Larps, Witcher Larps, Western, SciFi.. you name it 😊
