Not too surprising, both her parents were in Hollywood, ensuring their daughter would always be on the audition short list for sitcoms. Her father John Aniston was most famous for acting on Soap Operas for decades. Her mother Nancy Down was also a long time TV actress.
@alvexok5523 Жыл бұрын
@@emptyhand777 Yeah, without them having been her parents, she would've hardly been known except for someone who was in those couple of failed 1990 sitcoms. She wouldn't have been on Friends, in Office Space, or Along Came Polly, they would've had a totally different actress playing those roles. I wonder if Lisa Kudrow would've played the characters in those latter 2 movies if Jennifer Aniston never made it past the early 90s failed sitcoms
@alvexok5523 Жыл бұрын
Without her having 2 famous parents, her career wouldn't have taken off the way it did. Jennifer Aniston would've been much less well known since she would've only ever been seen in those 1990 failed sitcoms and she wouldn't have ever been in her career boosting hits Friends, Office Space, and Along Came Polly. I remember a show called "Cupid" starring Jeremy Piven and Paula Marshall. It aired for only 15 episodes in 1998-99. It was a hip, smart romantic comedy with Piven claiming to actually be Cupid, the Roman God of Love, who has to unite 100 couples, without the use of any of his magic powers, in order to return to Mount Olympus. Marshall is the Psychologist assigned to his case. It was revived in 2009 with Bobby Cannavale and Sarah Paulson in the roles and that too was cancelled after an even lesser 7 episodes. I suspect one reason why the Bradys didn't go over well with audiences were all the 80s Brady reunions like that unbelievably horrible Brady Bunch Variety Hour as well as the Brady Girls Get Married and A Very Brady Christmas and by the time this series appeared, fans of the original series were just sick of the entire concept. ABC kept hoping that all those baby boomers who grew up with the original series would watch these reunions out of a sense of nostalgia but the network tried to draw water from that well once too often and this time, it discovered that the well had finally dried up.

NBC had "Cheers" and "The Cosby Show", 2 hit shows, but both were coming to an end, that's probably why they were really trying hard to find something, just like you said. As @mjwbulich said in his/her comment, it was not until season 3 or 4 for "Seinfeld" to become a popular show. I would add that NBC really made it big with "ER" starting the same year than "Friends", having their famous Thursday evening which had "Seinfeld", "Friends" and "ER" for several years.

Many people made the point of how most of the shows were remakes/reduxes/releases/reunions of older shows and movies. I'd heard about 'Cop Rock', but never saw actual footage. Shut looks absolutely unhinged lol.

Its weird how I vaguely remember all of these shows but I dont recall watching any of them. Probably because they had a whole summer of promos but aired maybe one episode and then died quietly.

I was thinking the Cop Show on your thumbnail looked promising ... until I heard the premise. 😂

*i suspect there are literally hundreds if not thousands of sitcoms/tv shows that were made and didnt even make it pass the pilot episode, let alone get cancelled after 1 season*

Parenthood was an excellent show and it deserved a long run! I still believe that Cop Rock may actually be a misunderstood masterpiece that people (including myself, at least when I'm not drunk or high) are simply not cool and/or enlightened enough to "get"...

In the late 1980s/early 1990s, TV tried to capitalize on popular movies from theater. I know it wasn't in 1990, but there was also a Beverly Hills Cop sit-com.

Now that you mention it, I think I remember that.

I don't remember most of these, though I do know the movies they were based on. Another show from that same year was Over My Dead Body starring Edward Woodward ( The first Equalizer), I liked it but it got cancelled pretty quick.

Outsiders was great but then again I was 9 years old so that whole Fox Sunday night line up was gold to me after church lol. I watched Jump Street, Simpsons, Booker, Outsiders. Rock, and In Living Color

Hard to see how the cops in Cop Rock get any work done what with breaking into extended song most of their shift.

Never heard of any of them honestly. But. I didn’t watch tons of tv back then. I was in 7th grade and I was always busy our running around or listening to music.

Oh the white tights of 1990 3:35. I begged my mum for a pair to wear with my dress for my cousin's wedding. She took photos from the knees up to cut them out and pretend they never existed lol.

As far as the bradys I liked the show growing up but unfortunately by 1990 it was old news and there were new generations watching TV who didn't care about a show from the 70s 😢😢

Cop Rock is the only show that literally ends with the cast members complaining about how the show got canceled. I think Angry Beavers was going to do that but Nickelodeon had a rule at the time that no show they owned could bring up facts outside of the show (like cancelation)

I don't remember ever seeing any of those shows. It is interesting though to see how many of them feature eventually popular actors in their first gigs. Also, Cop Rock sounds an absolutely bonkers concept.

Talk about not being able to read a room...I remember when Cop rock came out. It was made fun of by every person I knew, I have no idea how that show made it on the air in the first place. Who was it trying to appeal to? Did Hollywood think fans of the Sound of Music were looking for a musical based on beat cops? Very weird.
