A little info on Leslie Howard not commonly known. The British War Department was aware that Nazi Germany was monitoring flights and such, they also knew the plane with Leslie on it would probably be shot down. However, taking him off the plane would tip their hand to the Germans, so he and others on it were sacrificed. Excellent video and looking forward to part 2, cheers!
@TheGraveyardChannel2 жыл бұрын
That makes it even sadder. ☹️ I also read that there was a Winston Churchill look-alike decoy on the plane just throw the Nazis off as well. But then I read another story that said that was just a myth. No matter what, it was incredibly sad. Thank you for sharing this with us Dan!
@robertsullivan47732 жыл бұрын
Extremely possible because this type of thing was done. But in this case I just don't accept this theory flights are scubbed all the time. I don't think the Germans would have thought we cracked their code.

Steve.... this vlog hits home. I lived in Pittsburgh when Clemente died. The whole town cried for him. He did not like flying. He had a premonition that he would die in a plane crash. There had been a devastating earthquake in Nicaragua. Black marketers were selling the supplies. Clemente boarded a plane to take supplies. He felt if he went with the supplies he could stop the black marketers. He was probably the greatest Puerto Rican player. He is regarded a hero in Puerto Rico.

This makes me so sad. The thought of people being lost forever to their families without a chance to say goodbye is so tragic. No chance to say goodbye, no opportunity to collect them up into the safety of the family, no place for them to be. A friend had his ashes scattered at sea at his own request, but that felt very different, somehow.

John F Kennedy, his wife & her sister were in a plane crash on their way to a wedding. Their bodies were recovered; John, John as many of us remember him was buried at sea. The crash was debated by many "experts" who concluded it was pilot error. While not fitting in with his topic, a good idea for one of its own. I never want to be buried underground & while I watch your videos, cemeteries are not where I want to end up. Instead I want to be cremated with my ashes placed into the Gulf of Mexico. I find it comforting that my ashes will flow out with the waves & as always the waves roll in & roll back out

Two of my favorite people are on this list, Glenn Miller and Leslie Howard. My father was a musician, and he loved jazz and big band, so as a result I'm a lifetime big band fan. @@TheGraveyardChannel I could certainly be wrong, but I thought his body, not just his ashes, was buried at sea President Reagan gave his approval, which was necessary since Wilson had no ties to the military. Wikipedia gives this version. The story at the time was that the Beach Boys had performed for Reagan not long before and he'd casually said, in thanking them, "If I can ever do anything for you...." So when Dennis died they took him up on his offer. Could be apocryphal , or urban legend, and I don't know exactly who supposedly asked Reagan.

Titanic victims: Canadian businessman Hudson JC Allison, along with his wife Bess Allison and their 2 year old daughter Lorraine. The family was separated from their infant son Trevor Allison (he was taken to a lifeboat by his nanny; they survived). Bess and Lorraine got out of a lifeboat, so that they could be with Hudson, hoping Trevor was with him. Then the three of them learned that all the lifeboats were launched. Bess Allison was one of only four women who died in the sinking of the Titanic. Lorraine Allison was the only child in First Class to perish. The body of Hudson Allison was recovered and he was buried in the family cemetery, in Chesterville, Ontario, near Ottawa. The bodies of Bess and Lorraine Allison were never found 😢

Major Archibald “Archie” Butt was an advisor to Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Howard Taft. While trying to soothe tensions between the former and sitting President, in 1912, he was advised to travel, and was heading home on the Titanic, as a First Class passenger. Archie Butt died in the sinking and his body was not recovered. There are 2 tributes to Archie Butt: 1. A tribute plaque is in the basement (Gift Shop) of the National Cathedral, in Washington DC; and, 2. A fountain in the Ellipse area of the White House has the names of Archie Butt and Frank D. Millett, who also died on the Titanic

Very recently I saw a show talking about Earhart and Noonan. They showed a picture of "them" in Japan(?). "They" were a distance away from the camera but it looked like it was them.
