Let me know what fantasy books kept you up all night reading! ⬇️

The last fantasy trilogy that kept me up all night reading was The Dark Gifts saga (first book called Gilded Cage) by Vic James. It has some years. It’s a pity that in Spanish only were translated the two first and not the last one! The edition was so beautiful.

I started reading the Throne of Glass series last month and even with 4-5 other books interspersed, I’m already on books 5&6 -tandem reading them which I honestly think is one of the best reading experiences I’ve ever had-and I’ve been late to work 3 times because I wake up thinking about them and HAVE to read

You have many excellent suggestions there, plenty to add to my wish list. For a 5 star book I can recommend Robert Holdstock's Mythago Wood. If you enjoy urban fantasy, then I can also recommend anything written by Charles De Lint.
@nazimelmardi Жыл бұрын
I would add Sir Terry Pratchett’s Discworld. Also Name of the Wind. (I really hope we will get that 3rd book one day).

@@FunFantasyBooks I would maybe mention that the Earthsea saga from Ursula Le Guin never gets enough credit. It’s starts as a book for children but by default it’s better than Harry Potter and it is the key book series between Tolkien and modern fantasy. The Wizard of Earthsea is the book that inspired Neil Gaiman to write Sandman in several ways so did Sir Terry Pratchett’s Equal Rites in the Discworld. And of course Harry Potter itself. Her books in fantasy and sci-fi are important enough and fortunately fun to read. I’m not sure if you read them. The sci-fi ones are also that important not just in the genre but for the recognition of female authors and also her work for lmbtq. It’s the text book how to do a representation without being bad in the story. And so on. Btw: the books in Earthsea are short so it’s a fast read good to catch back to read.

uuh, great video! Have been considering readin some Tchakovsky for a while (not sure which one to start with) but Guns of the Dawn does sound very interesting! Foundryside also sounded very interesting :O God damn, I have put book buying ban in December :D Malice, Stardust, WIll of the Many and Nettle and bone are on my physical TBR waiting for me to pick them up very very soon! Soo great choices, makes me happy about my new books !! :D And I completely agree with Blood over Bright Haven and Psalm for the Wild Built (such different books :D)

I'm glad to hear Malice kept you up at night! Well, I'm sorry for your health, but I was thinking of picking it up relatively soon. The series I'm finishing right now is one of John Gwynne's favorites, so what better book to break the reading slump I'll soon find myself in? I'm not touching Will of the Many until we have a release date for the second one, everybody talking about the cliffhanger has scared me 😆
@FunFantasyBooks Жыл бұрын
What!!! I thought I answered this comment! So sorry Laura!!! Yeah, I understand, the cliffhanger is real! BUT ALSO I need you to read it so that we can theorize 👀✨

I found it hard to get into Malice at first but so glad I gave it another go. Gwynne is easily one of my top 5 authors now. Brian McClellan isn't far behind. The second Powder Mage trilogy is even better than the first and the first in his Glass Immortals series was brilliant

Locklands actually has one of my favourite scenes ever, (I don't think it's a spoiler) it's the one where Sancia pokes Crasedes with a stick, it still has me cracking up months later 😂😂😂 Is it just me, or are sticks in fantasy books just incredibly funny?? Winter's Orbit had a hilarious stick scene too, I'm a fan 😂 I'll go with a very standard up-all-night book to start, Six of Crows! Also, Kingdom of Ash many years ago when it first came out, that book destroyed teenage me 😂 Also the last book in the Prison Healer series, I know you DNF'ed that one and not sure if I'd recommend it, but I sure was entertained 😂
@FunFantasyBooks Жыл бұрын
Hahaha I should give Prison Healer book 2 a try! I only read the first one and yeah, haha decided against it lol! But maybe I judged too quickly! Hard agree with Six of Crows and ToG!! Hahahahaha I also loved that scene from Locklands! Epic
